"I believe what Chloe says!"
"Me too! If the goddess speaks, it must be true."
"Yeah, Chloe would never lie!"
What the stall owners didn't expect was that the students surrounding them all believed Chloe. They didn't know Chloe and thus had no idea how popular and influential she was at Goldenleaf University.
"Even if what she says is true, that doesn't mean there's nothing wrong with the seasonings on this barbecue stall."
"Right, the chef here was still very inexperienced not long ago. It's suspicious that his skills suddenly improved so much, isn't it?"
"We're saying this for your health, you know."
The barbecue stall owners, clearly unhappy to see Jaxon's crisis being resolved so easily, began to recklessly slander that Jaxon's seasonings contained things they shouldn't. Their words indeed made some people hesitate, especially those who had eaten at Jaxon's stall before. They all had the same doubt in their minds. Jaxon's skills before, though not terrible, were by no means good, let alone comparable to what they were now.
It's true that one's cooking skills can improve through constant practice, but a sudden leap like Jaxon's was indeed rare, or rather, something they had never seen before. Now, with these owners' words, some people did start to doubt Jaxon.
"You say I added something, so I did?" Jaxon looked at the stall owners and said.
"Isn't that the case? Otherwise, how do you explain such a sudden improvement in your barbecue skills?"
"Because I'm not as slow as you guys. Is it not possible that I have a talent for this?" Jaxon said indifferently.
Talent is something very elusive, and no one can really explain it. Jaxon's words left others with nothing much to say.
"Yeah, my master's talent in cooking is something you guys can't compare to," Liu Yidao also spoke up for Jaxon.
Liu Yidao admired Jaxon's talent in cooking and naturally had no good feelings towards those who wanted to frame Jaxon and him.
Hearing Liu Yidao's address to Jaxon, Chloe glanced at Jaxon with a hint of surprise. Why was the head chef from Kaillemen helping Jaxon and even calling him master?
"You're just making this up! Even if you have a talent for this, it's impossible to improve so much all of a sudden!" one of the barbecue stall owners said, not convinced.
"Yidao, go to this boss's stall and get some seasonings," Jaxon suddenly turned to Liu Yidao and said.
"What are you going to do? I'm not like you. My seasonings are absolutely fine. I haven't added anything that shouldn't be there!" the boss shouted.
"Then lend some to me. Is that okay?" Jaxon asked.
The boss didn't know what Jaxon was up to, but since his seasonings indeed had nothing wrong with them, he wasn't afraid of Jaxon's accusations: "Fine, I'll lend them to you!"
"Also, get some ingredients back," Jaxon said to Liu Yidao, then he looked at the boss and said, "Don't worry, I'll pay for these. Consider it as me buying your barbecue."
The boss didn't know what Jaxon was planning, but since Jaxon was paying, he had no reason to refuse. Moreover, he wanted to see what Jaxon was up to.
Liu Yidao quickly returned from the boss's stall with some ingredients and seasonings. Jaxon took them and started barbecuing on his own stall.
At this moment, some smart people already understood Jaxon's intention.
You say my seasonings are problematic. Fine, I'll use your seasonings and even your ingredients. That way, you can't say there's anything wrong with my ingredients, can you?
The onlookers were now all interested and didn't leave. They were waiting for Jaxon's barbecue to be done. They also wanted to see if Jaxon's sudden improvement in skills was because he added something he shouldn't have or because of his great talent.
The barbecue stall owners also understood Jaxon's intention and their faces turned a bit complicated.
In their hearts, they didn't believe that Jaxon's skills could have improved so much. They were more willing to believe that Jaxon added something else to make his food taste better. However, they were also afraid of the unexpected. What if Jaxon really did have a sudden enlightenment? Wouldn't that be embarrassing?
But now that Jaxon had already started barbecuing, if they tried to stop him, wouldn't that just show their guilt?
"He definitely couldn't have had a sudden enlightenment. No one's cooking skills can improve that fast. He must be bluffing. Yeah, that's it. He's trying to trick us! Waiting for us to speak up!" the barbecue stall owners thought to themselves.
"Chloe, do you know this boss?" While Jaxon was focused on barbecuing, Chloe's roommate finally couldn't hold back her curiosity and quietly asked Chloe.
"I've met him a few times," Chloe said indifferently, her eyes still on Jaxon, not leaving him.
How could his focused demeanor be so captivating?
"Only a few times?" Chloe's roommate didn't believe it.
"Mm-hmm."
"Alright." Seeing that Chloe didn't want to say more, her roommates didn't press further. However, they had many guesses about the relationship between Chloe and Jaxon in their minds.
Jaxon didn't pay attention to the gazes around him and was seriously making barbecue. Before long, waves of delicious aroma began to drift from the food in front of him.
"The smell is still so good."
"I told you, the boss really has skills."
"I can't hold it anymore. I'll take all these barbecues!"
"Me too!"
The customers in front of the stall were all attracted by the aroma of the barbecue. Some of them couldn't help but drool.
The faces of the barbecue stall owners turned even worse.
"Done!" In a short while, Jaxon finished barbecuing the food. He handed it to Liu Yidao and said, "Distribute these to everyone. Don't forget to leave some for those bosses."
After handing the food to Liu Yidao, Jaxon said to the crowd, "I won't charge for these. Please do me a favor and act as judges."
"I'll take it!"
"Me too!"
"Give it to me. I'm willing to be a judge!"
Many customers voluntarily called out, all wanting the barbecue in Liu Yidao's hands. Liu Yidao quickly distributed the food. Of course, as Jaxon had instructed, he left the last few skewers for the barbecue stall owners.
The owners held the food in their hands, feeling very complicated. Although they hadn't started tasting it yet, just the smell and appearance were already far beyond theirs. They already had a bad feeling in their hearts.
