Sarah's expression was panicked as she urgently tried to approach me, but Garrison rushed over and shoved her away, slapping her hard across the face.
"Get lost, you piece of trash! Wasn't it enough to get Chris's dad killed? Now you're here to torment Chris too? How dare you show your face to him again?"
Blood seeped from the corner of Sarah's mouth, but she paid it no mind. She looked at me guiltily:
"Chris, I was wrong. I'm sorry for what I did to you and to Dad."
"I used to think Kellan was the one I loved. I was drawn to his passion and boldness. But after you left, I realized I had fallen for you long ago."
As if afraid I wouldn't believe her, she pulled open her shirt. The old tattoo had been removed, now replaced by a sunflower.
"Chris, look. This is the flower I gave you when we got engaged. Wasn't it your favorite? Now I've tattooed it over my heart. You're my sunflower, Chris. I'll never betray you again."
