Chapter 9

A gentle female voice came from behind. I stepped forward and took Callie's hand, smiling as I said to Krista:

"This is my girlfriend, Callie."

Callie nodded politely to her. Krista froze, her expression as hurt as an eggplant after a frost.

Ignoring her further, I left arm-in-arm with Callie.

If anyone were to call me 147, and I didn't get angry, it could only be Callie.

In prison, when the top dog and his cronies bullied me, Callie watched through the iron bars separating the men's and women's sections.

Later, during a prison activity, she reported those who had been bullying me.

Even though it might make her enemies, she didn't care. She not only tenderly helped me apply medicine, but also repeatedly encouraged me not to be so timid.

In my three dark years, she was that beam of light that seeped into my life.

After her release, she not only visited me often but also continued to help me gather evidence about the mysterious Scarlett.
