Inside an old but grand mansion of the Shinso family, a young boy was sleeping in a rather large but grand bed. It was a bed fit for someone of the upper class of society.
The room he rested in was large.
It had everything befitting of someone with a noble status: a large bed, expensive carpets, fancy paintings, and a crystal chandelier; the walls were painted black and red, with the Ace of Spades design on the walls.
Everything was, of course, designed in a neo-gothic sense, and the room was dark, very dark; however, as the boy continued to sleep in, his room door suddenly opened up, revealing a dark figure.
Whose form was barely visible from the mansion corridor.
The figure walked into the room, his steps silent despite his natural stride forward. The person continued to walk till they reached the window of the room, their hands grabbing the closed curtains, and they pulled the curtains apart; as a result, a creepy red hue came flashing into the room.
There was no sun, no stars, no planets, just the idea of day and night; if it was the day, it would shine; if it was night, the world would darken.
These two forces were the Divine Spirit of Day and Night. It wasn't a distant orb of fire or a celestial body drifting in space.
It was something far greater, something beyond human understanding. It simply was the force that made day rise and nightfall.
In the world of HDXD, there exist two types of spirits. The Great Spirits embodied the subjective laws of nature and phenomena, making them literal living, law-based entities. A fact of existence would be the best way to put them.
While above them are Divine spirits, the absolute definitions of existence itself. They weren't just representations of ideas that govern the entire universe; they were the ideas.
Time... Space... Life... Death... Possibility. Each one was a fundamental superior truth given form, and no two were alike. Some were stronger than others, not because of power in the traditional sense, but because certain concepts simply mattered more than others. A river may be mighty, but it will always bow to the ocean.
In this case, the very concept of day in the monster realm was chaotic.
There were no such things as a happy sunny day in this hell hole called the Monster realm. As the figure opens up the window, crimson light enters the room, and looking outside, the entire place is dark. Spamming across the entire space were dark clouds that radiated a red light.
It was a thick blanket of mayhem above, while at night this cloud disappeared, leaving only purple light and thick fog that covered the entire realm.
The world outside becomes progressively more dangerous at night, if not vastly more chaotic; the monster realm is a lawless place, and the few laws that exist can't even be called governing laws.
The so-called laws of the monster realm weren't made for justice, nor did they exist to build a better society. They were nothing more than rules meant to keep the worst kinds of destruction contained, to protect neutral zones, to enforce the will of noble monster families, and to regulate dealings with humans.
At their core, they weren't about fairness or order. They existed for one reason: to keep the balance of power in the hands of the Thirteen Great Families.
As long as you didn't cross them or step into their territories uninvited, anything else was fair game.
Murder? Commonplace. Kidnapping? Routine. Cannibalism? Hardly worth a second glance. Theft, slavery, genocide, it was all just another part of life. This wasn't a civilization. It was the law of the jungle, a world where the strong took what they wanted and the weak either adapted or died.
It was, in every sense of the word, a land built for monsters.
But one can only succumb to such a fate if they are weak.
"Rise and shine, Lord Adam."
The voice of a man rang out; it was smooth as it was charming.
"700 more years... Roland...
"Large numbers coming from one who is only five years old... now on your feet, today is the big day."
"AHHHH....fwine...
Adam groaned, rubbing his eyes as he turned toward the window. Standing there looking as pristine as ever was Roland.
The family butler.
The man was annoyingly perfect, silver hair falling in sleek layers past his shoulders, sharp features betraying not a single ounce of fatigue. He could pass for human, almost. But his slit-pupiled amber eyes ruined the illusion.
Dressed in a fitted charcoal suit, complete with a cravat pinned by an obsidian rose, he looked more like a misplaced Victorian aristocrat than a servant.
"Good young master, today is the first day of training with Minerva and Priscilla. You need to be at your best."
At these words, Adam dragged himself out of bed, bare feet meeting the ground beneath him; from there he made his way to the shower to cleanse himself.
Right after he began to get dressed, taking the clothes Roland had taken out of his wardrobe, and set on his bed, looking at it, he could no help but sigh as he said.
"Minerva really loves setting my wardrobe... it doesn't take an expert to see this scream her style of clothing all over."
Roland just chuckled at this as he said.
"Well, she finds dressing you up as a rather amusing hobby... I have not seen her excited to do something like this in a while. For the first time in a long time, she is spending her resources on things other than liquor."
"Geeez, I am flattered; oh well, she does have talent for fashion when it comes to simplicity."
Adam said, causing Roland to nod his head in agreement.
"Oh, indeed she does... Though I must admit, you have my deepest sympathies. That woman has never properly trained a single soul in her life... unless, of course, you count beating them senseless as training. Ohohoho! Still, I find myself quite intrigued. With your rather unique Shinso ability, I can't help but wonder what sort of future awaits you. A most entertaining spectacle, I'm sure!"When Roland said this, Adam could not help but shiver at his words, as he said to himself.'I am going to die, am I system?'『...』'System?!'『...』'... Ah, I see... I am so screwed... but even then I wont give up.'
Adam said to himself, A determined look in his eyes was present at these words; of course, he was planning on giving up anytime soon.
In this world, or any other world, power was always a major factor; it comes in all shapes and forms; even in his old world, that notion stood true.
And since he finally had a way to acquire power he never had in his old life, he was not going to waste this second chance of something great.
As such determined, he began to finish dressing in the clothes Roland picked out for him. And currently, right after he was finished, he was standing in front of a full-body mirror, and that was when he saw himself.
"Hmmm... what do you think, Roland? Does it look good on me?"
Adam asked Roland, who looked at the short kid in front of him.
Currently speaking, he was wearing black short pants, made from pure black silk; as such, it was soft on the skin and extremely comfortable. On the other hand, going to his upper body, he was shirtless, but around his stomach a red sarashi covered it, as it was wrapped around his body.
He wore a pair of rather fashionable black and red sneakers with ankle black socks, while both his ears were peirced with black and red earrings resembling a fang. But beyond that, this was all he wore. However, his skin was clear, and his eyes were a deep but menacing glowing blue.
He had long black hair; however, they were fashioned in a giant single Viking braid, with a blade holding the plait together. It was quite obvious Minerva was the one that did his hair; however, Roland fixes his hair up every morning.
Meanwhile, around his waist was a blood-red long-sleeve jacket, but beyond that, he wore nothing else.
However, Roland commented on his initial outlook.
"You look like the son of a deliquent."
"..."

"..."
"Welp... it can't be helped."
Said Adam, causing Roland to chuckle to himself yet again, but either way, Adam was now dressed for the day, and as such, Roland walked to his room door, opening it for him, and said.
"Well, then let make way towards Minerva and Priscilla, Lord Adam. You have the entire day ahead of you after all."
