Without a second thought, I lunged forward, shoving the first guard aside. He stumbled back, his smirk fading into shock. I didn't wait to see where he landed; I focused on the other two.
One of them swung a baton at me, but I ducked just in time, feeling the rush of air as it past me. I countered with a quick jab to his gut, the satisfaction of impact jolting me. He doubled over, gasping for breath.
The third guard, now enraged, charged at me. I sidestepped, using his speed against him. He crashed into the wall, a grunt escaping his lips.
The first guard was back on his feet, but I was ready for him.
As he lunged, I grabbed his arm, twisting it behind him.
"Arghhhh!" He screamed in pain and I felt the satisfying snap of his grip loosening as I pivoted, sending him crashing to the ground.
Finally, I stood over them, panting heavily. The three guards sprawled on the ground, whimpering in pain, all defeated.
I took a slow breath, before I spoke.
"You can't mess with me again, Never," I said, then turned and walked away, leaving them behind.
———
Five days had passed since I left the mansion, yet the ache in my chest felt as fresh as ever.
Laying on the couch at my best friend's place, I mindlessly scrolled through my phone. A wedding photo caught my eye—It was Nora and Hans.
They both held each other closely, and it made me wonder; They were getting married just days after our divorce. The sight twisted my gut, and I quickly turned off my phone
I dropped my phone by my side, staring up at the ceiling, thoughts swirling my mind.
Would my life ever get better? My dreams of wealth felt so distant now, and it made me wonder if I was ever going to make it.
I had envisioned a future where I'd rise above this pain, where success would wash away the bitterness of betrayal. But now, doubt crept in and I couldn't help but feel sad. Would I just end up hoping for riches that would never come? Or What if I worked hard and still failed? What if all my efforts led me back to this same couch, alone and defeated? I sighed, feeling so uncertain about my life.

I imagined myself years from now, still chasing a dream that felt more like a fantasy. Would I be the guy who spent his life hoping for something better, only to find himself stuck in the same place? God! It hurts.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed, breaking through my spiral of thoughts. Probably just another spam message, I thought dismissively, ignoring it. But then it buzzed again, more insistent this time. I rolled my eyes, reluctantly reaching for it, half-expecting to see another ad for something I didn't want.
But as I turned on my phone, my eyes fell on a notification: `CREDIT ALERT'. I blinked twice unable to believe my eyes.
I sat up right, my heart racing as I tapped to open it. A hundred trillion dollars stared back at me, and I felt my breath catch. No fucking way!
Just a few hours ago, my balance was barely a hundred dollars. What the hell? Was this some kind of mistake? A glitch? Or a prank rather.
I tapped the next message and it wrote.
"WE ARE OUTSIDE WAITING FOR YOU," My heart pounded as I read through it.
Was this meant for someone else? I whispered getting up on my feet to see if there was truly anyone waiting outside for me, because this wasn't even my real address. I had been thrown out of my real address.
I stepped outside and my eyes landed on a sleek black SUV that was parked in front of my friend's house.
Two men in black suits and black shades stood by it, their expressions unreadable. They looked too sharp—like they belonged in a high-stakes world I had never known.
Their suits were well tailored, their postures confident, and the way they stood together exuded a sense of authority that sent a chills down my spine.
I felt a mix of curiosity and fear. Who were they? And What did they want from me?
"Follow us," One of the men said, his voice firm. My heart raced as fear gripped me, twisting my insides.
What if they were here to hurt me? But the thought of the money lingered in my mind. Could they be the ones who sent it? Why would anyone give me that kind of money?
I hesitated for a moment, searching their faces for any hint of danger but they showed no emotion, just a steady gaze that made it clear I had no choice.
I took a deep breath and followed them, my legs feeling heavy as I stepped towards the SUV.
———
The drive felt endless as I stared out the window, lost in a whirl of thoughts.
What was happening? I turned to glance at the men in the front seat, their serious expressions making me anxious. Who were they? And why did they want me? The thought ran through my mind again. I wanted an answer.
After what felt like an eternity, the car slowed and pulled through large gates guarded by men with heavy weaponry.
My pulse quickened. This was no ordinary place.
As we drove deeper into the estate, I caught glimpses of elegant buildings that screamed wealth and power. Who owned this place? I wondered.
———
Finally, we stopped, and the men gestured for me to enter as they offered me a seat. I sat there, feeling more anxious than ever.
Moments later, a man in beige colored suit approached—definitely their leader. He walked with an air of confidence, holding a stack of files.
As he neared, I felt confused, yet curious at the same time. Why was I fucking here?
