When Kai opened his eyes again, he felt a headache. He slowly sat up and instinctively felt around for his mana powered phone. He reached around and finally felt it to his right and then looked at the time displayed on the device.
[7:23pm]
Kai slowly sat up, and then he felt a storm brew in his head. It seemed that he had inherited all of the original Kai's memories from before and after he died, as well as his system assigned profession and talent.
'System open.'
[User: Kai Darkbloom, Human]
[Occupation: Spacial Mage Level 1]
[Talent: Mana Affinity(B)]
[Physique:2.3]
[Mana:11.7]
[Skills: Pocket dimension Level 1, Blink Level 1]
Kai showed a somewhat excited expression at his talent. According to his so called family, he didn't have any use in a powerful clan like the Darkbloom because he didn't have any attack skills, but to the new Kai, not having much combat prowess wasn't all that important anymore. After all, unlike the old Kai Darkbloom who went onto a dark path after being rejected by the Awakeners academy and kicked out of his family, The new Kai had no problem staying away from such troublesome things. He could be a thief or a merchant or really whatever he wanted with the ability to teleport short distances and store items in a pocket dimension.
Heck, if he found some skill books for spacial mages or practiced his spacial abilities well, he could directly overturn the academy and even his family's opinion of him, not that Kai was eager to do any of that.
Other than his profession, the Mana Affinity talent directly allowed Kai to have an easier time mastering mana related skills, feeling mana both within himself and his surroundings, and even create new skills as long as he got the hang of his talent well. Really, Kai could only be called an ultimate waste of untapped potential, and he now had an extra profession and talent to awaken from his life as Hunter Bellows. Even the protagonist's [EX] ranked hidden profession and talent seem a little less powerful in front of someone with two professions directly.
Kai got up even though it was late. If he remembered correctly, this apartment had been rented out for an entire year by the Darkbloom family. After all, they were investing in him to go to the Awakeners High School to attract attention and resources to the Darkblooms. Instead, Kai had royally flopped and lost to an "E ranked loser" and done nothing but get wrecked and show an ugly side of himself. Just thinking about how he had gone to them to beg for forgiveness and gotten his tail end handed to him for the second time in two weeks in his previous life gave Kai shivers.
It was probably better to go and do his own thing from now on. After all, he still had about fifty thousand gold that the Darkbloom family hadn't even bothered to take back from him. The original Kai hadn't realized how much good it could do him in his previous life since it was too little to even buy basic mage gear, but that same amount of money could very well buy Kai a lot of things that his previous counterpart hadn't even put into his mind until it was too late.

By the time Kai was ready to go out, it was nearly 8pm. His first stop was probably the awakener's association. Kai opened and locked the door of the apartment behind him, and then looked around. He was on the second story of the complex, with two doors on his left before the stairs led down to the first floor and seven doors to his right. Kai closed his eyes and let a wave of mana flow out from him in all directions. As he expected, that wave of mana simply stopped at things like walls, ceilings floors, and other objects.
Still, this was an entirely new feeling to Kai, since he was originally from Earth. At first, the new sense that could only be described as a cross between sight and touch overwhelmed him completely. He almost staggered, but then the memories of the original Kai seemed to help him get his balance, and the Mana Affinity talent helped Kai adjust his range and control, and Kai finally was able to successfuly perceive things in his surroundings through mana. It was about a hundred times clumsier than even the original Kai when he at this point in his previous life, but Kai was quickly getting the hang of it. Kai took a step forward, and then instantly appappeared in front of the first floor of the building as if he'd jumped off the balcony.
Kai put away his mana sense and pulled out his phone. He began to walk to the awakener's association by memory, but there was a GPS function in this world too, so he double checked the route on his phone just to be sure. There wasn't much reason, and it wasn't like he didn't trust the original Kai's memories, but Kai wanted to walk through main streets and more common routes rather than the fastest route. It was more about the scenery and the atmosphere. Kai looked around as he traveled and didn't know whether he felt nostalgia or awe at the city. By now, technology had been adapted in this world to use pure mana as a power source rather than electricity, and somehow, it had worked.
Now, most devices were run on infinite battery since mana was all around. Things like internet services and such had actually skyrocketed in return though, since maintaining satellites and cell tower grids were infinitely harder to maintain since the planet was about five times as large as the Earth that Hunter Bellows knew, not to mention the dungeon portals that pop up and the monsters that overflow out into the world. Buildings like watchtowers and walls were all over the cities. As he walked, Kai eventually got used to the surroundings and turned his attention to his phone, like any modern addicted individual.
He searched news, looked up famous families, food prices, basically anything that struck his fancy. Whenever Kai came to something like a street light where people were waiting to cross or a street that he'd have to walk another block to find a crosswalk, he'd simply jump through space to the neext street over as if it was no big deal. Each jump usually cost him about (0.1) of his mana stat, and he recovered it quickly because of the mana affinity talent. He got some gaping mouths and stuff for his antics, but using one's abilities in the city wasn't much restricted unless they were dangerous. Kai always made sure that there wasn't anyone close to himself or his target location while he jumped, just in case something strange or unsightly happened when he jumped through space.
Finally, after about thirty minutes of walking around, he arrived at the awakener's association. Kai yawned and stretched as he walked. The front doors of the thirty or forty story building were made of glass, allowing passersby to see the vast lobby where awakeners and other people who came to the association for one reason or another. Kai opened the door and casually walked up to one of the lines.
