Kelvin was happy. His business was growing fast, and everything was going his way. He had money, power, and now, with his company stronger than ever, he thought about breaking the contract.
I knew what that meant.
He wanted to get rid of his wife—me.
And it wasn't just about his business anymore. He wanted to marry Mimi without questions asked.
With me out of the way, there would be no scandals, no complications. No one would accuse him of cheating or betrayal. He could start fresh with Mimi, and the world would see them as the perfect couple.
I clenched my fists. No. I wouldn't let him win.
But I had to act fast.
At the Hospital
Meanwhile, Simon went to visit me—my real body in the hospital. He still didn't know that I, Bella, was standing right in front of him, trapped in Mimi's body.
I followed him, keeping my distance as he walked into the room. My body lay there, pale and lifeless. Machines beeped around me, keeping me alive. I saw the pain in Simon's eyes as he looked at me.
"Bella," he whispered, reaching out gently to touch my hand. "I don't know if you can hear me, but… I miss you."
Something in his voice made my heart ache. He had always been kind to me, even when I hadn't noticed it before.
Then, something terrible happened. The beeping of the machines turned into a loud, sharp noise. Doctors and nurses rushed into the room. Simon stepped back in shock.
"What's happening?" he shouted.
"Her heart stopped!" a nurse yelled.
I froze. No. This couldn't be happening. I was right here! But my body… my real body… was dying.
They rushed me—her—into the operating room. Simon stood outside, pacing. He looked completely lost.
A doctor walked out after a few minutes. "Her brain is at risk. If we don't operate immediately, she might not survive."
Simon looked desperate. "Then do it! Save her!"
But before the doctors could act, Kelvin walked in. His face was unreadable, but I knew exactly what he was thinking.
"I don't approve of the surgery," he said.
The words hit me like a slap.
Simon turned to him, his fists clenched. "What?"
Kelvin shrugged. "There's no guarantee she'll wake up. It's a waste of time and money."
I couldn't stay silent. Stepping forward, I grabbed Kelvin's arm. "Are you crazy? This is your wife!"
He looked down at me, smirking. "Oh, Mimi, why do you care?"
Because I am her, I wanted to scream. But instead, I took a deep breath. "If you don't allow the doctors to do their job, you'll regret it. Imagine if she wakes up one day, fully healed. Think of what that would do for your reputation. People would admire you for standing by your wife."
Kelvin hesitated. I had said the magic words. He cared about his image more than anything.
"Fine," he sighed. "Do the surgery."
Simon exhaled in relief. I did too.
We waited for hours. Every second felt like a lifetime. Then, the doctor finally came out.
"The surgery was a success," he said. "She's still in a coma, but there's a good chance she'll wake up."
Simon sat down, burying his face in his hands. I could tell he was holding back tears. I felt like crying too.
*************
Later that evening, I sat with Simon in his living room. I had to know something.
"When did you fall in love with Bella?" I asked.
Simon looked at me, surprised. "Why do you ask?"
I shrugged, pretending not to care too much. "Just curious."
He sighed. "She was my only real friend in university. She was always kind, always believed in me. I never told her how I felt." He smiled sadly. "And then she married Kelvin."
Hearing that made my heart ache. All this time, Simon had cared for me. And I had been blind.
I needed to find proof of Kevin's lies. So I went to Kelvin's house.
The moment I stepped inside, Kelvin grabbed me and kissed me.
I froze. My mind screamed, Push him away!
But before I could, the doorbell rang.
Kelvin groaned. "Who could that be?"
I quickly stepped back, wiping my lips in disgust.
He opened the door, and to my surprise, it was Clara—my old friend.
She had a camera in her hands, ready to snap pictures.
I gasped. She was here to catch Mimi—me—in a scandal.
Thinking fast, I grabbed a book from the table—my picture book. It had photos of me and Kelvin, proof of our life together. Clara and I ran out of the house before Kelvin could stop us.
As soon as we were outside, I handed Clara the book. "Here. You should have this."
She frowned. "What is this?"
"Proof," I whispered.
She stared at me. "You're acting strange, Mimi."
I smiled sadly. "Maybe I'm just finally seeing the truth."
As I walked away, I felt a strange sense of relief.
I wasn't done yet. But for the first time, I felt like I was taking back control.
The next morning, I received a text from an unknown number.
Meet me at the docks. Midnight.
I knew it was Kelvin.
I didn't want to go. But I had no choice. If I wanted answers, I had to face him.
That night, I arrived at the docks, my heart pounding. The wind was cold, and the waves crashed against the shore.
Kelvin was already there, standing near the edge. He looked at me with a smirk.
"I didn't think you'd come," he said.
"I want to know the truth," I said firmly. "Why are you doing this?"
He laughed. "Because I can."
I clenched my fists. "You want to get rid of Bella so you can marry Me"
Kelvin's smile widened. "Exactly."
My blood turned cold.
"You're a monster," I whispered.
He took a step closer. "And yet, you still came to meet me."
Before I could react, he grabbed my arm. His grip was strong, painful.
"You belong to me, Mimi," he said darkly.
I struggled. "Let me go!"
He pulled me closer, his face inches from mine. "Why fight it? You and I were always meant to be together."
Then he kissed me—hard.
Even though I hated him, my body froze under his touch. The memories of our past love flooded my mind. But I forced mys
elf to push him away.
"Stay away from me," I hissed.
Kelvin laughed. "We'll see."
I turned and ran, my heart racing.
I didn't know what would happen next.
