After hours of trekking through the dense forest, Zhuan Ming finally reached the heart of the Verdant Wilds. Before him stood a massive cliff face, its surface jagged and weathered. At its base was the entrance to a cave, its mouth partially obscured by vines and moss. A faint, golden glow emanated from within, hinting at the treasures that lay hidden inside.
"This must be it," Zhuan Ming muttered. "The Sunstone Cave."
As he approached the entrance, a low growl rumbled from the shadows. A massive figure emerged—a spirit beast unlike any he had encountered before. It was a towering bear, its fur a shimmering gold and its eyes glowing. The beast radiated an aura of power, marking it as a rank 2 spirit beast, far stronger than the Silverfang Wolf.
"Goldenclaw Bear," the Qi Pill Ancestor said, his tone grave. "This will not be an easy fight."
Zhuan Ming clenched his fists, his body tense but ready. "No shit, but if a mere rank 2 beast could beat me, I wouldn't have been a rank 6 in my past life."
The bear roared and charged at Zhuan Ming with speed that would be considered fast even for a beginner rank 2 cultivator. Zhuan Ming dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the beast's massive claws. He continued to dodge, looking for an opening to go for one of the bear's weak spots—those were the eyes, stomach, and neck, where they had the least amount of muscle. Though it was hard, since the Goldenclaw Bear, like the name suggests, is known for its large golden claws that are hard to dodge.
The battle was fierce and unrelenting. The Goldenclaw Bear's strength was overwhelming, but Zhuan Ming's experience allowed him to stay on equal footing with the bear. He also used the environment to his advantage, dodging behind trees and rocks to avoid the bear's attacks. Slowly but surely, he began to wear the beast down.
Though he himself was getting tired, so he knew he had to act fast and get it over with.
Finally, with a well-timed strike to the bear's throat, Zhuan Ming brought the creature to its knees. The beast let out a final, pained roar before collapsing to the ground, its body dissipating into a cloud of golden spiritual energy, leaving behind a rank 2 core with a golden color.
Zhuan Ming breathed heavily, his body battered but victorious. "That was... tougher than I expected."
"Don't relax just yet," the Qi Pill Ancestor warned. "The cave may hold more dangers."
