The Monster Realm was a place of strange beauty. Jagged mountains pierced the sky, their peaks shrouded in perpetual mist. Forests of glowing mushrooms stretched as far as the eye could see, their soft bioluminescence casting an eerie yet comforting light. Rivers of liquid silver wound through the landscape, their surfaces shimmering like mirrors. It was a world untouched by human hands—a world where monsters roamed freely, living their lives in relative peace.
In the heart of this realm lay the village of Mossgrove, a quaint settlement nestled between the Fang Mountains and the Lava Lakes. The village was home to a variety of monsters: trolls, goblins, slimes, and even the occasional dragon. They lived simple lives, tending to their mushroom farms, trading shiny rocks, and occasionally arguing over whose turn it was to clean the communal cauldron.
And then there was Glurp.
Glurp was a slime—a small, blue, gelatinous creature about the size of a melon. Unlike the trolls, who were strong and imposing, or the goblins, who were clever and resourceful, Glurp was… well, just a slime. It didn't have sharp claws or powerful magic. It didn't even have a proper face. But what Glurp lacked in physical prowess, it made up for in curiosity and determination.
Today, Glurp was practicing its most impressive skill: looking inconspicuous. It had spent years perfecting the art of blending in, mostly to avoid being eaten by larger monsters. Today, it was pretending to be a puddle. A very convincing puddle, if Glurp said so itself.
"Hmm, yes, very puddle-like," Glurp thought, admiring its shimmering, gelatinous surface. "No one will suspect a thing."
The sun was high in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the village. Birds with three eyes chirped melodiously, and a gentle breeze carried the scent of sulfur from the nearby Lava Lakes. It was a peaceful morning—just like any other.
Well, almost.

The First Human
Glurp was just about to congratulate itself on its flawless performance when the air above the clearing began to crackle. A swirling vortex of light appeared, and out of nowhere, a human fell from the sky.
THUD.
The human landed face-first in the grass, groaning loudly. Glurp froze, its gelatinous body quivering in fear. "A human?! Here?! But… but humans don't exist in the Monster Realm! They're just myths! Legends! Scary bedtime stories told to little slimes to make them behave!"
The human sat up, brushing dirt off their clothes. They were wearing a bright yellow hard hat and a reflective vest. In their hand, they held a clipboard. Glurp stared, utterly baffled. "What… what is that? Some kind of weapon? Is it going to attack?!"
The human adjusted their hard hat, looked around, and muttered, "Ugh, another construction site? I swear, if I have to deal with another OSHA violation…"
Glurp blinked (or at least, it would have blinked if it had eyes). "What… what is it saying? Is it casting a spell?!"
The human stood up, dusted themselves off, and suddenly noticed Glurp. "Oh, hey there, little guy," they said, crouching down. "You the site supervisor? I'm here to inspect the foundation. Got a report that the ground's unstable."
Glurp trembled. "It's talking to me! What do I do?! Do I run? Do I fight? Do I… do I pretend to be a puddle again?!"
Before Glurp could decide, the human pulled out a strange device and pointed it at the ground. A beam of light shot out, scanning the area. "Hmm, soil density's a bit off," the human muttered, scribbling something on their clipboard. "Might need to reinforce this section."
Glurp's mind raced. "What is happening?! Why is it scanning the ground? Is it planning an attack?!"
Just then, the human turned to Glurp and smiled. "Don't worry, little buddy. We'll have this place up to code in no time. Safety first, right?"
Glurp didn't know what "safety first" meant, but it sounded terrifying. It let out a small, panicked "Glurp!" and immediately oozed away as fast as its gelatinous body could carry it.

The Village in Panic
---
Glurp burst into the village square, quivering with fear. "EVERYONE! THERE'S A HUMAN IN THE CLEARING!" it shouted, its voice echoing through the cobblestone streets.
The village elder, a wise old dragon named Emberclaw, raised an eyebrow. "A human, you say? Nonsense. Humans don't exist anymore."
"But I saw one!" Glurp insisted. "It had a weird hat and a shiny vest! And it was scanning the ground with some kind of magic device!"
The other monsters gathered around, murmuring in disbelief. A troll scratched its head. "A human? Here? That's impossible."
Just then, another vortex appeared in the sky, and a second human fell to the ground. This one was wearing a suit and tie, holding a briefcase. They stood up, adjusted their tie, and said, "Alright, who's in charge of this region? I need to discuss your tax compliance."
The monsters stared in stunned silence.
Emberclaw cleared his throat. "Well, it seems Glurp was right. Humans *do* exist. And they're… oddly specific."

The Humans Keep Coming
---
Over the next hour, more humans fell from the sky. Each one seemed to have a specific purpose, and none of them seemed to realize they were in a world where monsters ruled and humans were the intruders.
There was a chef, who immediately started complaining about the lack of a proper kitchen. "How am I supposed to prepare a five-star banquet without a stove?!" they shouted, waving a frying pan.
There was a scientist, who began collecting samples of glowing mushrooms and muttering about "breakthrough discoveries."
And then there was a politician, who started giving a speech about "uniting the realms" and "building a brighter future."
The monsters were baffled. "What do they want?" a goblin asked, clutching a shiny rock protectively.
"I don't know," Emberclaw said, his deep voice filled with concern. "But we need to figure it out—fast."
---
As the village descended into chaos, Glurp found itself standing at the edge of the square, watching the humans with a mix of fear and curiosity. It didn't understand what was happening, but it knew one thing: this was its home. And it wasn't going to let some strange, clipboard-wielding invaders take that away.
"Alright, Glurp," it said to itself, puffing up its gelatinous body. "You're just a slime, but you're a slime with a mission. Time to figure out what these humans want—and how to stop them."
With a determined *glurp*, it oozed toward the nearest human, ready to face whatever came next.
