Chapter 056: The Restaurant is Good, but the People Aren't Necessarily Good

Everyone began eating. Since two more people had joined, Paimon ordered a few extra dishes, like Mint Jelly and Cream Stew.

Lumine and Paimon were happy to eat anything, Amber wasn't picky about food, and Eula mainly stuck to sweeter dishes like Sweet Madame.

Shao Yun quickly filled his stomach, downed the last of his Apple Cider, and said, "You guys keep eating. I'll go settle the bill."

With that, Shao Yun walked over to pay, already having a rough estimate of the bill in mind.

However, when the new waitress presented the bill and quickly calculated the total, the number she gave left Shao Yun stunned.

"Let me calculate... Hmm, the total is 14,080 Mora (already discounted). You only need to pay 5,000 Mora."

(TL/N: my mind is blanking too with this calculation)

The waitress's voice was calm and firm, as if this were the most normal thing in the world.

Shao Yun stood frozen, his eyes wide, unable to believe what he was hearing. He pointed at the number on the bill and stammered, "Huh? Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? This meal should cost over 28,000 Mora without the discount. Even with the discount, it shouldn't be as low as 5,000 Mora, right?"

The waitress smiled and shook her head, confirming again, "No mistake. You only need to pay 5,000 Mora."

Shao Yun couldn't help but ask, "Is your restaurant about to go bankrupt? What kind of business loses money like this?"

As Shao Yun went to pay, the new waitress glanced over at Eula, who was sitting nearby.

Eula noticed the look and frowned slightly but said nothing.

Shao Yun, seeing the waitress's gaze, grew even more suspicious.

He turned around and took a closer look at the nearly empty plates on the table, recalling how everyone had eaten.

He suddenly realized that the waitress had only charged him for the food Eula hadn't touched.

(TL/N: i see.. its not me who is idiot 🗿)

Shao Yun turned and stared at the new waitress, sizing her up. His tone carried a hint of displeasure.

"What do you mean by this?"

The new waitress seemed to have anticipated Shao Yun's question. She pursed her lips, her eyes darting away as she explained, "Uh, well... I'll ask Miss Eula to pay for the rest. You don't need to worry about it."

Hearing this, Shao Yun's temper flared. He glared at her and snapped, "I'm the one hosting this meal, and you're going to charge my guest? Are you deliberately trying to provoke me?"

The new waitress was startled by Shao Yun's intensity and took a step back, cautiously asking, "You... you don't know who she is, do you?"

Shao Yun glanced back at Eula and said, "Her name's Eula. She's Amber's friend."

The waitress, exasperated, explained, "She's from the Lawrence family!"

His voice trembled, as if the Lawrence family name carried some deep, dark fear.

The girls at the table noticed the commotion and turned to look curiously. Eula kept her head down, nervously tugging at the hem of her clothes.

Shao Yun felt utterly baffled. He frowned and said, "And? I'm hosting this meal. What does it have to do with you?"

The new waitress, thinking Shao Yun didn't understand the Lawrence family's reputation, began to explain earnestly.

"The Lawrence family were the rulers of old Mondstadt. They have a terrible reputation. If it weren't for your sake, I wouldn't even have served her food. The food she ate will be charged to her account. You should also stay away from the Lawrence family to avoid trouble."

Hearing this, Shao Yun grew even more annoyed. This new waitress was meddling in things that weren't her business. He was the one hosting the meal—what did it have to do with her?

He glanced around, looking for a sink or something to splash some sense into this clueless person.

He said coldly, "Do you know what I'm thinking right now?"

Just as Shao Yun was considering whether to tear the place apart, Eula stood up. She walked over to the new waitress and said firmly, "Stop it. I'll pay for my share. How much is it?"

Why are you making such a fuss? It's not your problem!

Shao Yun, seeing this, angrily snapped, "You, go back to your seat! I said I'm hosting, so I'm paying. This newbie is insulting me, and you're joining in, huh?"

Shao Yun, with his usual forceful demeanor, decisively paid the bill and turned to Eula. "I'm hosting, so I'm paying. That's my rule."

(TL/N: eugh. Cringe)

His tone was firm and unyielding, as if telling everyone that he had his own principles and wouldn't be easily swayed by external conflicts.

He then waved his hand, signaling Eula to return to her seat. Eula looked at Shao Yun, wanting to say something but ultimately chose to follow his lead and silently returned to her seat. At that moment, Shao Yun's figure grew taller and more resolute in Eula's heart.

The others also heard Shao Yun's words, and the atmosphere became awkward. Amber looked at Shao Yun, unsure of what to do, and asked, "Mr. Shao Yun, what just happened..."

Shao Yun smiled and waved his hand. "Don't worry about it. Let's eat. There's still so much good food here. Don't let it go to waste." His tone was light and natural, as if the earlier incident were just a trivial matter.

With Shao Yun's lead, the atmosphere gradually returned to normal. Everyone continued enjoying the meal as if the little incident had never happened.

After breakfast, Amber felt satisfied. She gently rubbed her stomach, her eyes sparkling with happiness, and sighed, "That was a delicious meal."

Her content expression seemed to blend the flavors of the food into her smile.

"Sorry about earlier. I said I'd treat you to Honey-Roasted Carrots, but I've been so busy," Amber said, turning to Lumine, Paimon, and Shao Yun, her face showing a hint of apology for not keeping her promise sooner.

Paimon chuckled, patting her round belly, and said carelessly, "It's fine, Amber. This meal was already great, and we'll probably be in Mondstadt for a while. There's plenty of time to eat more good food."

Amber's gaze shifted to Shao Yun, her eyes filled with concern.

She remembered the intense battle Shao Yun had gone through last night and couldn't help but worry about his mental state. She asked softly, "Um, Mr. Shao Yun, are you okay?" Her voice was full of concern, as if asking whether the events of last night had affected him.

Shao Yun was momentarily taken aback but quickly understood Amber's concern. He rubbed his shoulder lightly and smiled casually, asking, "What do you mean?"

His tone carried a hint of ease and teasing, as if last night's events were nothing to him.

Amber sighed softly, her gaze unconsciously drifting toward the Goth Hotel, the site of last night's battle. The place had returned to calm, but the air still carried a faint metallic smell.

She hesitated but decided to voice her worries.

"After all, I've never seen such a shocking scene before. I'm worried..." She didn't finish her sentence, but Shao Yun already understood.

Shao Yun smiled and interrupted her, "Don't worry, Amber. I've been through more complicated things than you can imagine. Last night was intense, but it won't affect me. I know what I'm doing, and I know my limits."

Paimon, listening to the conversation between Shao Yun and the others, felt like they were speaking in some kind of code she couldn't understand. She widened her eyes, trying to decipher clues from their expressions and tones, but ultimately shook her head in confusion.

"What are you guys talking about? Paimon don't understand," Paimon asked, her voice filled with confusion and curiosity.

Shao Yun, seeing Paimon's innocent and curious expression, decided it was best not to tell her about the massacre. He cleared his throat and changed the subject.

"It's nothing big, Paimon. After breakfast, what's the plan?"

Paimon thought for a moment and replied, "Let's see... We plan to report to Acting Grand Master Jean at the Knights of Favonius headquarters, then head to the Cathedral. That's the plan for now."

Amber, hearing this, brightened up. She thought it would be convenient to travel together and said, "Oh, that works out! We can go together!"

Eula, however, had reservations. She didn't want to cause the group to be glared at by passersby because of her. She tugged at Amber's sleeve and whispered, "Amber, maybe we shouldn't go together. I'll go by myself."

Amber, seeing Eula's cautious demeanor, understood her concerns. She smiled and deliberately asked, "Why? Don't you need to go back to the Knights too? It's more convenient if we go together, right?"

Amber's voice reached the others, and they all turned to look.

Eula, feeling embarrassed under their gazes and unable to resist Amber's insistence, finally nodded reluctantly and agreed to go back to the Knights with Amber, Shao Yun, and Paimon.

Just as the group was about to leave, Sara, the familiar waitress from the Good Hunter, returned.

She was followed by a few Mondstadt adventurers pushing carts loaded with ingredients, clearly having just returned from a supply run.

Sara immediately noticed Eula and the satisfied smiles on everyone's faces, as well as the empty plates.

Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she teased, "I went out to get supplies. Did I miss something exciting?"

Shao Yun walked over, his gaze briefly landing on the new waitress in the distance, a playful smile on his lips.

He turned to Sara and said with mock seriousness, "If you'd come back earlier, you might've seen me putting a hole in that new waitress's head."

Sara's face instantly paled, her shock evident.

Shao Yun's name and his massacre of the Fatui had already spread throughout Mondstadt. Seeing his serious expression, she could almost picture the Good Hunter drenched in blood.

The thought made her heart race, and she instinctively glanced toward the service counter. The new waitress was still there, looking a bit flustered but otherwise unharmed. Sara breathed a sigh of relief.

Shao Yun, seeing her reaction, chuckled lightly and added, "Just kidding."

Sara, as if pardoned from a death sentence, closed her eyes and exhaled deeply.

Although Shao Yun wouldn't actually kill the new waitress, he still wanted to voice his dissatisfaction.

"However, I think the Good Hunter really needs to train its staff better. At the very least, they shouldn't let their personal feelings affect the guests' dining experience."

Sara understood the underlying message in Shao Yun's words. She glanced at Eula, then at the trembling new waitress in the distance, and nodded.

"I understand. I'll make sure to properly educate the new waitress."

Shao Yun gestured toward Eula and said, "I think you should talk to Eula."

Sara, hearing Shao Yun's request, walked over to Eula with a smile, took her hand, and said, "Miss Eula, next time you come, I'll personally serve you to ensure you have a pleasant dining experience."

Eula, seeing Sara's warm gaze, felt a bit of warmth in her heart but refused to show it. She stubbornly said, "Who needs you to serve me?"

Sara blinked, her smile unwavering, and replied, "Don't be mad, Eula. Next time you come, I'll prepare your favorite Moon Pie, okay?"

Eula, hearing this, gently pulled her hand away, a slight smile tugging at her lips, though her tone remained stubborn. "Hmph, how dare you defy me? I'll remember this grudge."

Her eyes, however, betrayed a different emotion, as if she were enjoying this subtle interaction with Sara.

With that, the group prepared to leave. Sara watched their retreating figures, then turned to the new waitress, who looked utterly ashamed.

It seemed she would have to thoroughly reform the Good Hunter's staff. Otherwise, one day, the place might really be drenched in blood, and that would be a real problem.

As they walked toward the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Mondstadt citizens spotted the group.

When they saw Eula, many instinctively wanted to roll their eyes, but Shao Yun's glare stopped them in their tracks. Today was the smoothest walk Eula had ever had in the city.

The group arrived at the Knights of Favonius headquarters and went in to report their respective matters.

Shao Yun, waiting outside for Lumine, wandered aimlessly around the lobby, admiring the interior decor.

After a while, Lumine and Paimon came out. Shao Yun thought everything was done and prepared to leave.

But Lumine stopped him, pointing toward Jean's office.

"Acting Grand Master Jean wants to talk to you privately. She said it's something important that needs to be discussed in person."

Shao Yun frowned slightly, a wave of curiosity rising in his heart. What could be so important that Jean would summon him so formally?
