Act Innocent

“I know what you’re thinking,” Pablo said cautiously, watching her expression shift. “But please don’t jump to conclusions. We need hard evidence before we can accuse anyone.”

Carmen looked at him. “I’m not accusing anyone yet. But in the next meeting, I’m bringing up this topic of financial discrepancies. I want to see how they react.”

Pablo’s face paled slightly. “Missus Monteiro, that’s a risky move. What if you’re wrong? What if they deflect and turn the board against you? Or worse, what if they realize you’re onto them and immediately cover their tracks even more?”

Carmen’s jaw tightened with determination. “I know it’s risky. But if we don’t push them, we’ll never get the truth.”

Pablo sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “I understand that, but just be careful. If you corner the wrong person, it could cost us everything. And don’t forget, Perez and Salvador are not just some minor players if you’re to involve them. They’ve got influence.”
