A sharp knock on her door pulled Arya from the edges of sleep. She groaned, burying her face deeper into the pillow, hoping whoever it was would take the hint and leave.
No such luck.
“Arya,” Ariel’s voice rang out, far too awake for this hour. “Get up. We have a lesson.”
Arya let out a long, suffering sigh. “It’s not even morning yet.”
“Exactly. Best time to learn.”
Arya peeled her eyes open, glaring at the silhouette standing in her doorway. “Don’t we have the morning run?”
Ariel shrugged. “It’s necessary, not compulsory. We can skip one day.”
Arya wasn’t sure skipping was a great idea, but Ariel had already settled herself cross-legged on the floor, looking far too eager to begin. There was no escaping this, was there?
“Fine,” Arya muttered, sitting up. “Where do we start?”
Ariel grinned. “With the five factions.”
“There are five factions,” Ariel began, counting them off on her fingers. “Werewolves, witches, fae, vampires, and humans.”
