Chapter 3 “Unspoken Bonds”

"We both hail from Kyoto but our Guardian sent us here because this was the best Academy in the area. Hobbies include training and reading.

"

"A video game every now and again slips into the mix but our private lives aren't that interesting," Hiroki joined in. Yet both new students knew that statement was a lie.

Especially since they were stretching their senses across the room. They felt a presence in the room that was…in a word, dominating.

It almost made them cower and flinch away but they held strong. They would have to keep watch over the individual in question.

"What kind of training?"

"The kind that would make you wonder how we're still walking," Kasane said plainly, much to the horror and or perversion of the class.

"KYAA! They've done it!" "EEEEEEHHHHHH!!!"

They blinked in confusion before finally realizing what they meant. They awkwardly shifted in place.

One of the guys in the class spoke up, "I've always liked a woman who can kick my ass. "

Hiroki chuckled, having recovered from his state, "One brownie point to you for bravery, my good sir. "

Sensei quieted the class and told them to sit in the two spots available. The two did so, while Hiroki picked up their bags and set them down.

He even acted like a perfect gentleman and moved her seat out. You're overdoing it, her eyes expressed.

Well, you know exactly why I'm doing this… Hiroki couldn't fight that instinct if he tried. The times he did, he regretted it the next day.

Kasane got used to this and accepted his 'advance' only further fueling the fire between them.

As if making out in front of the class like exhibitionists didn't already stoke the forge enough.

Classes progressed as normal and the duo left the room holding hands. Hiroki secretly reveled in how soft Kasane's hands were while the reverse was true—she liked the coarseness of his fingers.

While the two don't seem to be in a relationship, they very much are. They just show it differently, making them an abnormal couple, in more ways than one.

As they left the class, bags in hand, they passed by two people, one having hair as red as blood and the most curious blue-green eyes. Wearing the outfit that seemed to be just a size too small, she peered inquisitively at the two before passing them.

The second girl could only be described as a Yamato Nadeshiko, the perfect woman with violet eyes, and an orange hairband, keeping her hair all neat and organized despite how it seemed to defy all natural physics.

The two pairs of students knew something about the other pair was afoot, and neither would like the confrontation.

Truthfully, the redhead was curious about her new kouhai and the fact they both have the aura…no only one does but that's because… "How interesting. "

"Something wrong, Buchou?"

"It's nothing, Akeno-chan, I was just thinking of our new prospects. "

The redhead, Rias Gremory, walked out the door to the old school building where her clubroom was. "Those two have something…different.

"

"Fufufu, is there anything you want me to do?" Akeno Himejima, a third-year at Kuoh Academy, asked her best friend.

Rias shook her head, "No. For now, we observe.

"

Meanwhile, with the original pair, "They are onto us. "

"Nope, curious. We haven't done anything to them, so they have no reason to confront us.

We do need to head home. I guarantee she will glomp us on how our day was.

"

That was Kasane's and Hiroki's conversation as they left the Academy for the day. "By the way…" she started.

He sighed, "It was the kiss wasn't it? I knew I shouldn't have but-"

"Will you ever shut up and let me explain before you go off on one of your triads?" Kasane irritably questioned.

Hiroki raised his hands in defense, "Sorry, but I know that you don't exactly like spontaneous acts of affection…but they were eyeing you and I had to lay claim to what's mine?" It was a sentence before he trailed off into a question.

Now, this was a rare expression that came onto Kasane's face, "Oh? And what exactly do you claim to be yours?"

Pure mischief.

Hiroki was caught off-guard as a blush came to his face, ". .

. ou…" a mumble.

"What was that?"

He coughed once before looking her in the eyes, his own in slits, "You. "

Kasane already knew of his heritage and what that single claim meant, "Oh. " Then she saw the hurt in his posture and gaze, and she knew she just trampled his pride.

"Wait, Hirochi!" She called out his name in a more affectionate manner, seeing how he was distancing himself. She grabbed his hand and he turned with a shimmer in his eyes.

That was when she made her move and before he knew it, she was kissing him. This one felt different from the one in class or even the previous ones they've shared.

This one…

…was full of love. Acceptance.

A plea.

Hiroki's instincts took over and pulled Kasane close, flush to him, and returned her affection with his own. He never took her presence for granted.

Something with Hiroki wanted nothing more than to-

He broke off the kiss to pull back, panting, with flushed cheeks, and tightly closed eyes. Kasane, initially confused, saw the internal battle in his posture and body language.

So, she conjured something that would snap him out of his instincts-addled state, and quite possibly bring harm to herself.

Hiroki felt this and snapped out of it, grabbing her wrist, ignoring the pain in his hand from doing so. "Thank you…but please…don't do that.

"

"It…" Kasane panted, still feeling the absolute rush of the kiss, as there were feelings that she long thought she discarded. ".

. .

was one way of getting you out of it. "

Hiroki noticed her uniform was a little disheveled and her hair, which was kept in the braid all day, was coming undone. He lovingly caressed her head as he once more fixed her hair.
