Hazuki stared at the stone steps beneath his feet. "I was in an orphanage too. Back in my world. Only difference was, mine had government funding. Basic meals, shared bunk beds, free clothes. Nothing fancy… but I never went hungry."
Ridan floated quietly for a beat. "…So that's why you didn't hesitate."
Hazuki snorted. "Like I'm doing this out of kindness or something."
"Yeah, yeah," Ridan said, grinning again. "Still, you didn't even blink when handing out your money. Guess you just got yourself another invisible title: Soft-Hearted Punch Idiot."
Hazuki glared. "Shut up before I donate you to the trash."
"Too late, I'm your treasure now." Ridan wiggled his fingers like a smug raccoon spirit.
Hazuki sighed and pushed the guild doors open.
Hazuki strode straight to the receptionist counter, his footsteps heavy but calm.
