If what I am seeing online is true this may be a huge opportunity for me.
Yet, I would be a fool to go head first into this troublesome situation without a few more tests.
Whatever this thing is, I need to get my father's suitcase upstairs to run some tests on it.
My mother often told me tales of tricksters who gave great power or made deals with foolish mortals to take their souls, or something else unknown at the time of taking the deal.
With this in mind I need to make sure that this phone passes through all the tests I have available on me before accepting.
I seemingly spent two hours looking online for information.
It was already 4 pm, and the kids were just chilling in their rooms like I asked earlier.
I got a few calls from some friends who wished him a happy birthday online.
'Huh, Ranma Saotome and Bobby Hill called one hour ago wishing me a happy birthday.' I guess it's been a hot minute since we last talked, I'm surprised they still had time to talk about their schedules.
Babysitting kind of left me with no real time to hangout with them or even call them much besides the occasional call once every two weeks. They were also hunters who lived their own lives so they were also busy with their own projects.
I lamented at our shared suffering of all being rookie hunters who all were raised to join the family profession.
I was slightly different from them, with my talents, but they are also talented so it even out.
I hadn't sensed any cursed or demonic energy from the phone, so that test was done before the others.
After leaving my bedroom I walked into my father's office to grab his emergency hunter's bag full of monster killing weapons & common weaknesses.
The bag had a strange silver short lance the same size of a dagger. Dad called it an angel blade and said he got it from killing a mad priest back in the day.
They had been creating false Frankenstein-like monsters with huge white wings. It ended with his mother coming in to save the day with a magical hex that cursed the priest to death.
The blade could kill most monsters but was hard for mortals to wield safely.
Strangely enough, my father said I was able to wield the blade just finely for some reason.
Neither my mother or father could use the blade longer than 10 minutes without their hands burning a bit. After some time I was ready to start tests.
Now with all the necessary tools and materials available he went downstairs to the living room then to the furnace in the basement. The furnace was quiet, but still hot to the touch.
I used some magical fireproof gloves to retrieve the phone.
*[Is the user ready to accept?]*
*[Yes or No]*
"Who the hell are you?" I asked while looking down at the phone seemingly unnamed from the flames.
It wasn't even hot, but at room temperature strangely enough.
It had been in the furnace since I had been looking online for information about the device.
*[Is the user ready to accept?]*
The robotic voice asked once more loudly as the phone lay on the floor.
'The phone passed two tests so far, it's not made by any sort of demonic creature or the holy fire would have destroyed it.
It also wasn't intelligent or sentient from its current responses.' I sighed in relief as my situation was starting to look good.
If the system answered me or showed signs of intelligence I would have rejected the offer immediately.
Intelligent systems that can talk and think are almost always a scam.
It showed itself to be a sort of automated system of sorts, and when I first had it on me it said something about system algorithms.
Having a system algorithm means some sort of higher being created the system's code. The odds of having an innate system that created itself or was born from the cosmos are so incredibly low it's better to assume the worst. This is a system, a computer-like program on a divine scale, if it was a sword or a less complex object I could assume it might have been born naturally without any schemes, but systems are innate and too complex for me to ever think those things can be born more often than they are created by others.
In other words, the system was designed with some sort of purpose.
'Now it's time for the next few tests.' I thought about it for a few seconds before giving a hopeful grin.
I went to the basement wall to activate the silencing barrier my Mom made for my Dad's forging business.
Now with that active, I grabbed the gun from the suitcase and loaded it with 100 silver explosive bullets. After that, I put on my gas mask, goggles, and magical ear muffs. I started loading most of my mana to supercharge the gun's attack power before shooting.
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
*BOOM*
After firing 100 magical silver explosive bullets at the phone on the ground, I waited for a minute for the smoke inside to be cleared by the magical vent and air purifier my parents made together.
Soon enough a few minutes passed and no damage was shown on the phone. It appeared to be unbreakable and the phone hadn't been scratched or dirtied from the bullets.
…
'This might actually be a multiverse group system....' I might actually make my dream of becoming an undying eternal existence come true if it's legit!
'No. No. No. No.' I shook my head trying to focus on the bigger picture.
"We still need to test it further, this all might be a trick by a trickster or some random pagan gods. We need more tests to be sure, or else I will be just a fool who jumped headfirst into something beyond my comprehension." I pushed my long brown hair to the side before tying it up with the yellow scrunchie I had on my wrist.
It's time to get serious. I took off my goggles, mask, and ear muffs before putting on some magical glasses.
