Chapter 52 – Angel Showdown

Bastian moved first and shot up into the air with remarkable speed, hovering far above before diving toward Billy with such force. Billy, however, was ready for him as his own wings exploded in a blast of silver, and he shot upward to face Bastian.

As the two angels collided in mid-air, the impact sounded like thunder, their attacks were quick and precise, with each quick movement made to test the other's power. Bastian's hands gleamed with holy force as he struck at Billy, who easily ducked and retaliated with a strong kick that sent Bastian away.

Before he could recover, Billy shot toward him, summoning an orb of blinding light in his hands. He hurled it at Bastian, who narrowly avoided the blast, the energy striking the ground below and leaving a crater in its wake.

"They're really going all out…" Anastasia gasped as she gripped Rose's arm tighter.

Bastian regained his balance as he made his wings slow his descent and then his eyes locked on Billy with a determined gaze. "You're not the only one who can play with energy," he said with a grin, his voice echoing with power.

Bastian extended his palm, and to Billy's surprise, a brilliant spear of light emerged, pulsing with power. Bastian flung the spear directly at Billy, who narrowly dodged it as the spear brushed across his wing before fracturing into a shower of golden glitter.

Billy grinned. "Not bad," he called out, before flapping his wings and charging forward. This time, they met in a flurry of blows, punches, kicks, and strikes too fast for human eyes to follow. The force of their battle shook nearby trees and sent waves through the grass.

Down below, Wyatt watched, his expression proud but cautious. "They're strong, no doubt about it," he muttered to himself, "but this is just the beginning."

Anastasia observed Bastian closely as he demonstrated a combination of elegance and power during the fight. He excelled in his environment, displaying grace and strength that indicated his rightful place.

In the midst of the ongoing aerial battle, they unexpectedly heard Wyatt shout to them.

"Bring it down to the ground! Show them what hand-to-hand combat looks like." His voice was firm, and both angels stopped and gracefully descended without making a sound.

Bastian and Billy landed with ease on their feet, turning to face each other with a new focus as this was no longer simply a show of power because they now had to show their technique and skill. With their wings folded neatly against their backs, they assumed classic fighting positions.

The ground beneath them seemed to tense in anticipation as the two angels moved in unison, closing the distance between them. Billy was the first to strike, his fist moving with lightning speed toward Bastian's jaw. Bastian effortlessly defended against it and responded with a well-placed low kick directed at Billy's legs. Billy swiftly moved away, narrowly dodging the blow, and then countered with a strong elbow strike to Bastian's ribs.

Bastian grunted in pain from the impact, but he remained focused. He used the momentum to spin around, landing a fierce punch across Billy's cheek sending him flying to the ground a few steps away. The sound of the impact echoed in the field, and a trickle of blood appeared at the corner of Billy's mouth.

Rose gasped into a squeal covering her mouth with both her hands as she stared at the scene before her, concern written all over her face which made Billy turn his head towards her, but he reassured her he was fine, giving her a cheeky smile and winked.

Turning his attention back to Bastian, Billy wiped the blood away from his mouth with the back of his hand and grinned. "Finally making me bleed, huh?"

Bastian continued to focus on Billy not letting his smile falter and they collided again and their actions were a haze of punches and kicks, with each blow becoming more powerful than the last. The intensity of the battle held Anastasia, Rose, Matt, and Sean captivated.

Every blow struck with a crushing impact, causing both angels to display the signs of their fight with blood staining their faces, wounds, and bruises showing after each blow. Bastian's expertise became evident as he began to predict Billy's actions and managed to avoid them while responding with more precision.

Billy attempted a hard uppercut, but Bastian noticed it coming so he stepped to the side, seized Billy's arm in mid-strike, and turned him onto his back with a loud thud. Before Billy could recover, Bastian was on top of him, holding him down with his forearm on his throat.

Billy fought briefly before chuckling breathlessly as he realized he was caught. "Alright, alright, you win, I yield."

As Bastian's chest was heaving, he smiled down at Billy, his face streaked with blood and sweat. He eased off, offering Billy a hand. "Good fight."

"You've still got it, old man," he joked, grabbing Bastian's hand and then wiping the blood from his own cheek.

"150 years of battle training doesn't just disappear," Bastian smirked.

They both stood and firmly shook hands before turning to face the others. Wyatt watched them with raised eyebrows, clearly impressed but trying to maintain his composure while Sean, and Matt were left with their mouths gaping from the epic battle scene they just witnessed.

But the tension melted away as Bastian and Billy turned toward the women waiting for them. Without a word, Bastian walked straight up to Anastasia, his eyes filled with an intense, burning passion. He didn't care about hiding his feelings for her and didn't care who watched so he didn't hesitate when he pulled her close and kissed her deeply, his hands cradling her face with a tenderness that contrasted sharply with the brutality of the battle they had just witnessed.

Billy followed suit, sweeping Rose into his arms and pressing his lips to hers in a kiss that left her breathless.

Wyatt, Sean, and Matt exchanged glances with eyebrows raised as they silently agreed to give the couples their moment. They turned away, walking back into the house with amused smirks on their faces, leaving the angels and their lovers to enjoy their well-deserved victory in peace.
