The beast loomed before Felix and Emma, exuding an air of menace. Its large, piercing blue eyes glinted fiercely in the sunlight, capturing a primal intensity that sent a shiver down Felix's spine. The creature shifted its massive weight, dragging its clawed foot back and forth on the ground as if preparing to pounce at any moment.
Carefully, Felix lowered Emma to the ground, ensuring she was in a safe position. "I'll take care of this in five minutes," he whispered, hoping to reassure her, but her eyes remained closed, oblivious to the danger nearby. A wave of exhaustion washed over him; he felt drained, as though each breath cost him energy. His last encounter with the red man's crew had left him battered, and now he could feel fatigue creeping into his muscles like a heavy fog.
He stood rooted in place, his heart racing as he faced the beast. They locked eyes, each assessing the other's intentions with a fierce determination. The expansive open space around them seemed to amplify the tension, and the sun overhead beat down relentlessly, adding to the oppressive atmosphere. Felix wore a facade of confidence, but his body screamed for rest, teetering on the edge of collapse with every passing second.
In that critical moment, he clenched his fists, silently vowing to himself, "I just need to defeat this beast and get Emma to the shelter." The stakes felt higher than ever, and he knew he had to summon every last ounce of strength to protect her.
The white beast roared loudly before charging at Felix. As the beast raced toward him, Felix gathered his black smoke, shaping it into a long sword. Knowing he was at his limit, he intended to avoid close combat with the beast. The creature charged straight at Felix, but he shielded himself with the sword and attempted to strike back. The beast was powerful, so the sword only pushed it back momentarily. Although the beast fell, it quickly regained its footing and prepared to attack Felix once more.
This time, the beast raised its front paws, and its nails elongated, resembling daggers. It clashed with the floating sword using its sharp nails. With a single swipe, the beast shattered the sword, reducing it to black smoke. In an instant, as Felix turned the smoke into a shield, the beast lunged at him, sending him flying far behind, landing with a loud thud next to unconscious Emma.
The beast rushed to attack Emma, but Felix retaliated by conjuring several spears made of black smoke. The spears pierced the beast, causing it to bleed. The creature stepped back, breathing heavily, and the black spears transformed back into smoke, returning to Felix as he stood protectively in front of Emma.
Though the beast had fallen, its fierce eyes indicated it was still ready to fight. The wounds on its body vanished, making it appear refreshed and strong once again, poised to attack Felix at any moment.
Felix was watching Emma to see if she had been hurt. She appeared to be fine, though still unconscious. He then shifted his gaze to the beast, which was already in the air and preparing to attack. Felix charged at the creature, transforming his smoke into two massive swords as he engaged in battle. They fought fiercely in mid-air, moving so quickly it was as if two lightning bolts were clashing against each other.
The beast's eyes remained fixed on Felix, and its wounds continued to regenerate. In contrast, Felix's magical clothes were torn in various places, and he was bleeding from multiple wounds. Suddenly, he was thrown from the sky, landing hard on the ground with a loud thud.
Felix lay there, severely injured and in pain. His vision blurred as he looked up at the sky, where the beast was still focused on him.
"What was that loud thud?" Emma mumbled.
Emma slowly opened her eyes, her body aching and desperately craving water. "When did I lose consciousness?" she wondered, struggling to sit up. Looking around, she asked, "Where is Felix?" Her gaze shifted to the sky, where she saw the two fighting figures. Just moments later, she watched a person fall from the sky with a loud crash.
"FELIX!" she shouted, panic rising in her voice.
Without hesitation, she ran towards him.
Emma looked down at Felix, who was lying on the ground, defeated. She shook him gently, trying to wake him, but he wouldn't open his eyes. Tears streamed down her face as she felt helpless. Suddenly, a loud roar echoed from the sky, prompting her to look up. The sight that greeted her was terrifying—a massive beast was charging toward her ferociously.
In a trembling voice, Emma began to mumble, "S...a...v...e s...o...m...e...o...n...e... p...l...e...a...s...e." Then, with a surge of desperation, she cried out, "Someone please help!" But the beast's gaze was fixated solely on Emma and Felix, hurtling toward them with immense force. Overcome with fear, Emma shut her eyes.
She thought to herself, "I can't do anything. I couldn't do anything even back in my world. I... am... responsible. Because of me, Felix and Frieda... they are both in danger... because of me..." She wept, remembering the happy faces of Frieda and Luna smiling back at her. "I think this is the end. This is what I get for betraying my parents."
With her eyes still closed, Emma lost herself in her thoughts. As the beast charged at her, a figure suddenly appeared, attacking the creature. In an instant, the beast vanished.
Time passed, and Emma realized nothing had happened; she slowly opened her eyes. Looking up, she found clear blue skies. Glancing ahead, she saw that the horizon was empty—the beast had disappeared.
"Who are you?" came a voice, slicing through the stillness of the moment. Emma turned to see a figure moving steadily toward her. As he drew closer, she couldn't shake the unsettling feeling pooling in her stomach; he looked almost human, yet there was an eerie aura surrounding him that set him apart. His features were finely chiseled, but his eyes held an unnatural glint that seemed to pierce through her.
