Getting Teased While Having Lunch

The classroom was unusually quiet for lunchtime. Most of the students had already made their way to the cafeteria or the school courtyard, leaving behind only a few stragglers. Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting long shadows across the rows of empty desks.

Riku sat near the back corner, his usual spot, with a neatly packed bento box in front of him. He ate in silence, his chopsticks moving methodically as he focused on his food. The faint sounds of students laughing and talking drifted in through the open window, but Riku didn't mind the solitude.

It was better this way—no awkward conversations, no eyes watching him. Just peace.

At least, that was the plan.

"Wow, you really know how to party, don't you?"

Riku froze mid-bite. He didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

Yumi.

She sauntered over from the doorway, her long black-blue hair catching the sunlight. Her blue eyes sparkled with mischief as she stopped beside his desk, hands on her hips.

"You're seriously eating lunch in here all by yourself?" she asked, her tone teasing. "What are you, some kind of brooding loner character from a drama?"

Riku swallowed his bite awkwardly. "The cafeteria's too crowded," he muttered, avoiding her gaze.

Yumi pulled out the chair next to him—her desk—and plopped down without asking. "So your brilliant solution is to hide in the classroom like a hermit?"

"I'm not hiding," Riku said defensively, though his voice lacked conviction.

"Right," she said, leaning forward. "Just coincidentally sitting alone in an empty classroom. Totally normal."

Riku sighed, poking at his rice. "Why are you here, anyway? Don't you usually eat with your friends?"

Yumi grinned. "They went to the cafeteria, but I saw you sitting here all lonely and sad, so I figured I'd come rescue you."

"I'm not sad," Riku grumbled.

"Could've fooled me," she said, resting her chin on her hand. "Do you always eat in here by yourself?"

"Sometimes," he admitted reluctantly.

She gave him a playful look. "You're like a mysterious lunchtime ninja. Should I be honored that I discovered your secret lair?"

Riku couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "If you say so."

Yumi's eyes gleamed at his reaction. "See? I knew you had a sense of humor buried in there somewhere."

He shook his head, trying to focus on his food, but her presence made it difficult. Yumi had this way of commanding attention without even trying.

"So, what's in the bento today?" she asked, peeking over at his lunch. "Rice, tamagoyaki, and... ooh, fried chicken. Not bad."

Riku instinctively shielded his bento with his arm. "You're not getting any."

She gasped dramatically. "Wow, stingy. And here I thought we were friends."

"We barely know each other," he pointed out.

Yumi pouted, though her eyes were still playful. "Harsh. After all the time we've spent sitting next to each other, I thought we had something special."

Riku's face warmed. "That's not how it works."

"Maybe not for you," she teased.

There was a brief pause as Riku tried to think of a way to change the subject. "Aren't you going to eat?" he asked.

"I already did," she said, leaning back in her chair. "I just came here to bother you."

"Mission accomplished," he muttered under his breath.

Yumi's laughter filled the room. "You're fun when you're grumpy."

Riku sighed, but there was a faint smile tugging at his lips despite himself.

As he finished his bento, Yumi tapped her fingers on the desk thoughtfully. "You know," she said, "most people like the noise and crowds or a beautiful view while eating, but here you are, acting like it's some top-secret hideout."

"I like the quiet," Riku said simply.

"Yeah, I noticed," she said with a smirk. "You're like a cat—quiet, low maintenance, and kinda cute when you're not trying to be."

Riku choked on his water. "W-What?"

"You heard me," she said smugly.

He cleared his throat, his face red, trying to recover. "You're impossible."

"And you're easy to mess with," she shot back.

Despite his embarrassment, Riku found himself relaxing. Yumi's teasing, though relentless, wasn't mean-spirited. It was... comfortable, in a strange way.

As the bell signaling the end of lunch rang, Yumi stood up, stretching her arms. "Well, that was fun. Thanks for letting me crash your secret lunch spot."

"I didn't exactly invite you," Riku pointed out.

She grinned. "Details, details."

Got it! Here's the revised ending with a funny comment from Riku:

As she made her way toward the door, she paused and glanced back at him. "Hey, Riku."

He looked up, surprised by her suddenly calling out to him.

"I'll see you around, okay?" she said, her usual playful smile returning.

Riku nodded. "Yeah. See you."

Yumi's laughter echoed through the hallway as she walked away, leaving Riku alone once again.

He stared at the empty doorway for a moment before muttering under his breath, "Wait... we go to the same class. Where is she even going?"

Riku shook his head, sighing. "She's so weird."

Turning his head down to his bento he saw that he still haven't touched it since Yumi came in.

"Ahh- i need to finish my bento before class starts" Said Riku, while shoving the food in his mouth.

But this time, the silence didn't feel quite as heavy.
