As I stepped out of Lexi's apartment, I couldn't shake off the feeling that lingered within me. The scent of her perfume, the softness of her skin, and the taste of her lips still lingered on my mind. I couldn't think straight, my thoughts consumed by the memories of our time together.
I made my way to the office, trying to focus on the tasks at hand. But my mind kept wandering back to Lexi. I couldn't help but wonder what she was doing at that moment, whether she was thinking of me too.
As I arrived at the office, I was greeted by one of my presentation managers, who was eager to discuss the latest sales figures. But I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying. My mind was elsewhere.
"To the new ways," she finished, her voice snapping me back to reality. I nodded, trying to appear interested, but my thoughts were still with Lexi.
"Can we go and explore the boutique now?" I asked icily, trying to stay focused. The manager nodded, looking a bit taken aback by my brusqueness.
"O...of course," she stuttered, following me out of the office.
I took my red Ferrari to the boutique store, the one that was now under my name, Blacque. The sign above the door read "Blacque" in bold letters, a reminder of my success.
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by the familiar sight of rows of designer clothes and accessories. My staff looked up, relieved to see me, knowing that I was a demanding boss who expected nothing but perfection.
I told them to take a break, and they scattered, eager to escape the tension that always seemed to accompany my presence. I watched them go, feeling a sense of satisfaction at the efficiency of my team.
As I came out of the store, I caught sight of Lexi standing across the street, her eyes locked on mine. My heart skipped a beat as our gazes met, the connection between us sparking like electricity.
Lila was standing beside her, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Well, well, well, who do we have here?" she said, her voice dripping with amusement.
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I approached them. Lexi didn't move, her eyes never leaving mine as I drew closer.
"Nice to meet you again, Lila," I said, trying to sound casual.
"Me too," Lila replied, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Thanks for taking Lexi home yesterday and spending time with her today."
I gazed at Lexi, whose eyes were still locked on mine. "It was no problem," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Lexi smiled, a small, shy smile that made my heart skip a beat. But before I could respond, she suddenly spoke up.
"I have work to do," she said, her voice firm but polite.
I felt a pang of disappointment, thinking that I had made her upset. But before I could apologize, she turned and walked away, Lila following closely behind.
I watched them go, feeling a sense of confusion. Had I misread the situation? Had I overstepped my boundaries?
I stood there for a moment, trying to process what had just happened. But as I turned to head back to my store, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I had just missed an opportunity.
I sighed, feeling a sense of frustration. But as I looked back at the spot where Lexi and Lila had disappeared, I knew that I wouldn't give up. I would try again, and I would make sure that next time, I wouldn't let her slip away.
