The air inside the villa was thick with tension. The echoes of the fight still lingered--broken furniture, shattered glass, and the bodies of Guo Bao's men lying unconscious or groaning in pain.
Zi Yan's heart pounded as she wiped a streak of dust from her cheek. The fire inside her had only grown stronger. She had spent too many years being pushed around. Not anymore.
Lu Yichen picked up a fallen chair and set it upright, his movements calm despite the chaos. Chen Wei kicked one of the defeated men aside and crossed his arms.
"They came fast, Chen Wei muttered. "We need to be quicker."
Zi Yan turned to Lu Yichen. "They won't stop, will they?"
He shook his head. "Guo Bao is desperate.
His family is already under pressure because of the scandal we released. If he can't silence you, everything will get worse for him."
Zi Yan's lips curled into a cold smile.
"Good. Then let's make sure he drowns.'
By morning, the villa had been cleaned up, and their next move was in place. Lu Yichen had sent the remaining files on the Guo family's illegal businesses to the authorities.
The results came faster than expected.
"Guo Family's Money Laundering
Scandal Exposed! Government Takes Action!"
"Major Business Empire Collapsing?
Authorities Begin Freezing Guo Family
Assets!"
The Guo family's empire, built on lies and greed, was beginning to crack. Zi Yan read the articles with satisfaction.
Chen Wei whistled. "The government's moving fast. They must have been waiting for an excuse to take down the Guo family."
Lu Yichen nodded. "They were too arrogant. Now they have no escape."
Zi Yan leaned forward. "But Guo Bao isn't someone who gives up easily."
Just as she spoke, Lu Yichen's phone rang.
He answered, his expression turning serious.
After a moment, he hung up.
"They're trying to push everything onto Guo Bao's father," Lu Yichen said. "The old man is taking the blame to protect the rest of the family."
Zi Yan smirked. "Then let's make sure none of them escape."
She turned to Chen Wei. "Do we have anything else?"
Chen Wei grinned. "I was saving the best for last."
He pulled out his phone and played a recording.
Guo Bao's voice filled the room.
"...That woman? Just get rid of her. I don't care how you do it. Make it look like an accident."
Zi Yan's eyes darkened. This was it. This was the proof that Guo Bao had ordered her death.
Lu Yichen's voice was low. "If this gets out, not only will the media turn against him, but the authorities will have no choice but to investigate."
Zi Yan nodded. "Then let's give them no choice."
That evening, the recording was leaked.
Within hours, it was everywhere.
"Shocking Revelation: Guo Bao Caught
Ordering an Assassination!"
"Guo Family Heir Wanted by Authorities -Police Begin Investigation!"
Guo Bao's reputation was ruined. No amount of money or influence could save him now.
Inside the Guo family mansion, chaos erupted once again.
Guo Bao smashed his fist against the table.
"Who released that recording?!"
His mother sobbed beside him, while his father sat quietly, his face pale.
"They're targeting you," his father finally said. "We need to get you out of the country before the police come."
Guo Bao's hands shook with rage. "This is all because of that bitch! Zi Yan... I'll kill her myself!"
His father's gaze was cold. "She's no longer someone you can touch. She has Lu Yichen protecting her."
Guo Bao's expression twisted. He hated Lu Yichen. The man had everything-power, status, and now, he was protecting Zi Yan.
He gritted his teeth. "If I can't destroy her with money, I'll destroy her another way."
His father stood. "Pack your things. We don't have much time."
But Guo Bao wasn't listening. He had already made a call.
If he was going down, he was taking Zi Yan with him.
Back at the villa, Zi Yan was unaware of the storm coming her way. She sat by the window, watching the stars.
Lu Yichen walked up behind her. "Are you okay?"
She nodded. " should be happy. The Guo family is falling, but...
He waited patiently.
She sighed. "It's not over yet."
Lu Yichen's voice was soft but firm. "It will be."
Just then, Chen Wei rushed in, his face serious. "Bad news."
Zi Yan and Lu Yichen turned.
"Guo Bao is planning something," Chen Wei said. "I got a tip from a contact. He hired someone--dangerous people.
Zi Yan's heart clenched. "Assassins?"
Chen Wei nodded grimly. "He's desperate.
He's going all out."
Lu Yichen's expression darkened. "Let them come."
Zi Yan took a deep breath. She had fought this far. She wasn't stopping now.
That night, shadows moved outside the Villa.
Lu Yichen, Chen Wei, and their men were already prepared. They had been waiting.
The first attacker tried to sneak in through the back-but a gunshot rang out.
Bang!
The man fell, groaning.
The others charged in, but Lu Yichen's men were faster. The battle was short but brutal. The hired killers had expected an easy job, but they were outmatched.
Within minutes, they were all either dead or captured.
Lu Yichen kicked one of them over and crouched beside him. "Who sent you?"
The man coughed, blood dripping from his lips. He stared at Lu Yichen, then at Zi Yan.
A twisted smile formed on his face.
"You think you've won?" he rasped. "Guo Bao... He's not done."
Zi Yan's blood ran cold.
Before anyone could react, the man pulled out a hidden knife and lunged at her.
But Lu Yichen was faster.
Bang!
The attacker collapsed, lifeless.
Silence filled the air.
Zi Yan exhaled slowly, her hands trembling slightly. But she wasn't scared. She was angry.
She turned to Lu Yichen. "Guo Bao made his last mistake."
Lu Yichen nodded. "We end this.!
The next day, a warrant was issued for Guo Bao's arrest.
But when the police arrived at the Guo family mansion, they found it empty.
Guo Bao was gone.
Zi Yan stood by the window, watching the news. She wasn't surprised. She knew he would run. But it didn't matter.
"He won't get far," Lu Yichen said beside her. "I already have people tracking him!"
Zi Yan's lips curled into a smirk.
Guo Bao might have run, but he would never escape her revenge.
