Chapter 4

I clicked into the chat window, slowly scrolling through the conversation history.

The more I read, the colder my body felt, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over my head.

"Sweetheart, don't worry, it's foolproof. rose.jpg"

"I trust you completely, babe~ I wish I could see Nolan's face in person, it must be priceless!"

"You little minx, I saw it for you. She turned as red as a beet, begging me on her knees. Ugly as sin."

"Oh, you're so bad~ Just thinking about it makes me feel better! After ten years, I finally got my revenge!"

"Sweetheart, you've been through so much. But I'm here for you now. I really can't wait to marry you. These five years haven't been easy, you know. crying.jpg"

"kisses.jpg"

My heart raced faster and faster. The chat history cut into me like a thousand sharp knives. With trembling fingers, I continued scrolling back.

"I can't wait anymore. You've been married to her for three years now. Do you know how unbearable each day is for me?"

"Don't rush, sweetheart. I have a plan."

"Tell me! I can't stand another second!""In a few days, for our third anniversary celebration, I'll find a way to get her drunk. You get Zane drunk and bring him to my place, then put them on the same bed. I'll go there in the morning, and with the evidence right there, let's see how she can talk her way out of this!"

"Oh brother, you're so clever! I've been disgusted by this Zane for a long time. This way we can kill two birds with one stone. You're a genius, brother~"

"We'll discuss the details in person. Love you.jpg"

I felt the world spinning, but I struggled to stay alert.

I caught the key information - Edgar said he had been patient for five years, but I had only known him for three.

Three years ago, Edgar seemed like a godsend to me, rescuing my family's failing business. I was immensely grateful to him and willingly married him.

But from the chat logs, it appears Vivienne had known Edgar two years before I did. Why didn't she tell me?

I kept scrolling back, hoping to find more information, but since Edgar's tablet was newly purchased, older messages hadn't synced.

I tried to piece together their conversation in my mind, recalling what Edgar had said to me this morning: "divorce papers", "leave with nothing."

Suddenly, something exploded in my brain.Could it be that three years ago, Vivienne persuaded Edgar to invest and help me?

Edgar racked his brains to scheme and make me "cheat," desperately demanding that I divorce and leave with nothing.

His goal was crystal clear now.

My assets, my company. Everything I owned that could be quantified in monetary terms.

Our three-year marriage was nothing but an illusion, and I was surrounded by conspiracies all along.

At this moment, any gratitude I had for Edgar no longer existed, replaced by the pain and anger of being deceived.

I took photos of their entire chat history with my phone, not missing a single message, and saved them to an encrypted album.

Just as I was about to turn off the screen, WeChat suddenly popped up with another message.

"Hey there, handsome! Tonight's beautiful dealer is dealing cards live, and we're just waiting on you~ I'll let you in on a secret, I've got some insider info~"

The red dot for the new message quickly disappeared, indicating that Edgar had already read it on another device.

I hurriedly clicked into it, and this seemingly insignificant action made my blood boil instantly once again.

A large number of chat records all pointed to one fact—Edgar was gambling online.

"I'll deposit $500 first."

"Not enough of a thrill, let's add another $2,000!"

"It's just one loss, I'll definitely win it back next round. This time, $100,000!"

"No way!"Come again! Just wait, I'll move some funds around. Deposit 5 million for me!"

"See, you've got to be bold! This win was exhilarating! Next time I'm going all in, 20 million!!"

Suddenly, it all became clear to me.

No wonder all the money I had invested in Edgar's company over the past three years had vanished without a trace, showing no signs of progress.

It turns out he had been gambling it all away!!

Similarly, I captured photographic evidence of all of Edgar's gambling activities.

In the span of a single day, my life had undergone a complete transformation. I began to contemplate my next move.

Leaving with nothing was out of the question. Edgar, since you've shown no decency, don't blame me for what comes next.
