The Day

inn leaned against a pole, surrounded by adventurers ranked B and below. Right now, he was just hanging around, waiting like everyone else. He glanced at the woman beside him and asked, "So, we're only waiting for one guy, right?"

The girl stuttered, seemingly caught off guard. "Y-Yeah. Alex. D-Don't worry, he's always late," Marry said, shifting awkwardly.

"Ohhh, I see. So, how many minutes are in the usual spectrum of lateness?" Finn asked, smirking as he toyed with his lollipop, rolling it around in his mouth.

Just then, the gate opened, and in walked Alex—a man with black hair, brown eyes, and an almost radiant aura. 'Just like a knight, huh?' Finn thought, watching as Alex approached.

Alex extended his hand. "Hey, you must be the new guy. Uhhh… Fin, right?"

"Yeah. Finn with double N," he corrected, shaking Alex's hand firmly.

With formalities out of the way, they began preparing to enter the gate. Alex, having the most experience and being close to ranking up, stepped in first. However, as soon as he did, something changed. The gate's colors began shifting violently, twisting into a deep crimson hue. The transition was sudden, and those nearby immediately sensed danger.

"It's turning red! Pull him out now!" someone shouted.

Several adventurers attempted to drag Alex back, but before they could, Finn was already in motion. He shoved them aside and leaped forward, breaking through the collapsing barrier just in time.

Once inside, he saw Alex struggling against the gate's growing force. Without hesitation, Finn grabbed the back of Alex's armor and hurled him out, sending him tumbling onto the safe side before the gate sealed shut.

Finn landed on one knee, panting. When he looked up, something had changed. Markings had appeared on his forehead—the markings of Totality. Shadows flickered around him before fading, and in an instant, his stamina was restored.

"Yeah, not letting this go. I have almost all of the Shikigami now, and I want to try them all," Finn muttered to himself.

Finn strolled through the city streets, a white lollipop stick dangling from his lips. On the other end, it was bitten clean off. 'Knew the candy would get destroyed,' he thought with a shrug.

Pulling out another lollipop, he unwrapped it in one smooth motion and popped it into his mouth. 'Ahh, orange—a great flavor,' he mused as he continued walking.

With every step, something nagged at his mind, a persistent thought creeping in. Suddenly, a tiny chibi version of himself appeared on his shoulder, sitting cross-legged.

"Hello, I am that small thought in your head that you'll never get rid of," Chibi Finn announced proudly.

'I'll hate this… so why are you here?' Finn thought, sighing internally.

Chibi Finn smirked. "Why not use Ox to get two Shikigami now? You only have four, and two of them are just support."

Finn stopped in his tracks, thinking about it. "Yeah… now that I think about it, what am I even doing? I have three days to get Max Elephant or even Great Serpent," he muttered to himself.

With that realization, Chibi Finn disappeared. Finn cracked his knuckles. "Guess it's time for a little field trip."

Finn stood atop Piercing Ox, holding his phone and watching the timer. The app was about to hit ten minutes.

"That should be enough," he thought, making a U-turn. As expected, he lost some speed and power, but he needed to reposition.

As they fully turned around, Finn saw a massive white dome made entirely of rabbits. Before he could react, the ground rumbled, and something burst out—Totality. Chasing after it was the Great Serpent. Totality spotted Finn and ran toward him, with the serpent in pursuit.

Just as they were about to clash, a tongue wrapped around Finn's waist and yanked him out of the way. Totality leaped over Piercing Ox, dodging its charge, while the Great Serpent was not as fortunate. The beast was skewered by the charging Ox and instantly dispersed into shadows.

Finn landed on a tree branch, grinning. "Alright, that makes it... two, three, four, five. Now, let's get Nue and try for Round Deer. Tiger Funeral is gonna be tricky, though. I don't even know what his abilities are or how strong he is." He shrugged and grabbed Piercing Ox's horns, flipping himself back onto its back.

Without hesitation, Finn formed the hand sign for Nue. The creature materialized behind him, but before it could react, Piercing Ox had already put distance between them. Back where Nue had appeared, Totality ambushed it, tackling the beast to the ground. Toad quickly followed up, wrapping its tongue around Nue's body. However, before they could fully subdue it, Nue discharged a surge of electricity. The shock stunned Totality and forced Toad to recoil its tongue, allowing Nue to escape into the air.

Miles away, Finn formed a new hand sign that resembled a serpent's head. In response, the Great Serpent erupted from the trees, lunging forward and biting into Nue mid-flight. Finn smirked.

"Hah, now I got myself a flying Pikachu!" he chuckled. "Next up, let's get a water bender. I want my own Piercing Water." He recalled Sukuna's fight, remembering how he had copied Piercing Blood using Max Elephant's power.

A short while later, Finn stood with a new weapon strapped to his waist—a whip infused with his Mana, ending in an iron chain. He gave it a test swing, snapping it through the air. The resulting crack shattered the sound barrier. Satisfied, he secured it at his waist, then summoned Piercing Ox to find a good battlefield. With Totality and Toad beside him for support, he prepared for the next challenge.

He formed the hand sign for Max Elephant. From the shadows, the colossal beast emerged.

"Oh, fuck," Finn muttered.

Without hesitation, Max Elephant unleashed a powerful jet of water, instantly flooding the battlefield. Finn cursed, snapping his whip around a branch and pulling himself out of the rising water.

"Oh, so you're just going for that right away? You fudging—" he started but cut himself off.

Below, Great Serpent materialized in the water. Unlike Finn, it had no trouble moving, slithering effortlessly through the flood. It dove toward Max Elephant, coiling around its body and constricting with immense force. The elephant struggled, its trunk thrashing, but before it could counter, Piercing Ox charged forward. With Great Serpent keeping Max Elephant in place, the Ox crashed into it at full speed. The massive beast groaned before dissolving into shadows.

The water receded, leaving Finn standing victorious. He clapped his hands together.

"Alright, now let's see if we can get Round Deer." He paused, feeling the drain on his Mana. "Though... my pool's already half empty. Maybe I should wait it out first."

With that, he took a deep breath, preparing for whatever came next.
