When the man's voice penetrated the crowd the entire group descended into chaos.
Three thousand shekels someone gasped
The money amount would provide food for an entire household throughout twelve months according to the second person.
A sudden shift of attention directed itself toward me.
The initial movement began with a pair of merchants who faced each other with intense appetite in their eyes.
The promise of wealth attracted many more individuals despite their lack of moral principles.
Grab her!!!
I barely had enough time to move before Orin jerked me by the wrist and dragged me away from the approaching footsteps.
Zorro he barked
"I'm on it!" Without hesitation Zorro used his speed to whirl around and sent a crate into the way of the initial attacker.
The flying crate hit the earth at the same time it released oranges while knocking some villagers to the ground.
Orin positioned his blade to block an attack which targeted me as he commanded "kael stay close."
The heavy club nearly hit my head so I ducked and my head continued to throb ever so loudly before I selected the closest object - a clay pot - to strike my assailant's head.
His shock lasted only seconds before I struck his chest to make him fall from his feet.
The sack of grain hit another man in the middle of his stomach.
The fighting swordsman managed to avoid a punch while grunting about never having rest between fights.
Orin moved quicker than the attacking woman who tried to strike me with her dagger because he seized her wrist to initiate a flipping motion that ended with a forceful dirt slam.
The situation momentarily indicated we retained our position until more attackers made our situation desperate.
A sharp whistle cut through the air
Additional people entered the area with both simple and makeshift weapons. Greed overpowered their fear to act
Zorro shouted "Too many enemies surround us now"
Suddenly Orin made an agitated sound through his teeth.
The crowd of men blocked Orin as they all attacked him at once to knock his blade free.
" Orin" I screamed
A group of men forced him to the ground and brought him to the heart of the market.
A person lifted their sword toward the sun with plans to kill Orin on the spot
I attempted to move ahead but strong arms stopped me from proceeding.
Panic, terror, range.
Something erupted inside me
I sensed my heart rate slowing but instead it turned into a thunderous roar inside my ear.
A sudden burning wave passed through my bloodstream as my body started to transform.
My hair shifted as if blown by a nonexistent wind and weightless strands lifted up like cut pieces of hair.
Orin !!
I yelled his name while extending my hands towards him.
And then the world erupted.
A powerful wind and lighting surge emerged from my core which changed everything around me.
The blurring of my sight suddenly transformed into an unnatural clear vision which expanded my field of vision.
Soundcloud
A scorching pressure hit my entire body starting from my skull down to my limbs and into my chest.
My feet launched into the air as the world started to turn wild around me.
I was floating.
My reflection shot past a window during my gasp while my breathing caught up.
Silver eyes blazing
Hair - no longer dark but shining pale as the moon
People screamed.
The windstorm tore through the villages and toppled them to the ground. Stalls overturned crates went flying.
The market transformed into a complete storm of flying objects.
I failed to understand the situation around me.
I knew without any doubt that the force came directly from myself.
Orin who fought with his abductors saw me with a look of complete shock
Kael?
The wind carried away his voice so that no one could understand what he was saying.
Everything, everyone was lifted up
The wind tossed everything like autumn leaves yet I continued to ascend into the air.
Out of control
Dark storm clouds circled the sky above me while they seemed to follow my every breath. I detected the wind's harsh scream but understood it was my inner self howling through the air.
I floated above the ground while being unconcerned about the destruction I had just started.
J The village square existed in complete destruction.
The toppled stalls revealed a scene that resembled war destruction with their scattered pieces of debris.
The people took position on their knees while trying to defend themselves against the elemental power that I had unleashed.
And Orin—Orin was still there.
He wasn't running.
He wasn't cowering.
He was walking toward me.
His steps were slow, deliberate. His eyes glowed golden as he stared at me without shifting his gaze while everything else around him became chaotic.
He walked toward me with dust-covered clothing and a cut on his cheek while keeping his composure.
He shouted over the wind's roar "Kael" with a tone that remained steady.
I couldn't answer.
I couldn't stop.
The power within me started to wind up toward an explosive manifestation. It wanted more.
More destruction, more chaos. The energy inside me gave me a secret message that I possessed enough power to dismantle anyone who had caused me pain.
Orin spoke a second time with a softer tone when he said "Kael."
He was now only a few feet away from me. His jaw muscles revealed his deep concern together with his worried facial expression.
He addressed me like a dangerous creature while ordering me to breathe. "You're stronger than this."
A gasp escaped me although it failed to deliver the necessary effect.
My chest became overwhelmed with the sensation of breathing underwater while being trapped inside my own strength.
A violent gust of wind rose from the earth behind it to create a loud cracking noise and blew away the dust.
The gathered people started screaming while others rushed to escape. Many people observed the scene in astonished terror while paralyzed by fear.
Orin continued to urge me to stop my display.
My voice emerged as a weak croaked sound. My hands trembled. My body burned.
"Kael, look at me."
I did.
The expression in Orin's eyes caused an uncertain feeling to emerge within me.
There was no fear. No judgment. No anger.
Just belief.
A deep breath came out of me as my throat constricted. My voice trembled while I admitted to Orin that I lacked the ability to control the power surging through my body.
"You do," he said. "You always have."
I wanted to believe him. I wanted to let go. The force within me appeared as a powerful tempest that remained strong and totally out of control.
"I—can't," I whispered.
