Chapter 11- Spirit Licence Registration

Jin smirked as he repeated himself. "I'm just a passerby exorcist."

Minato's grin didn't falter, but his sharp eyes studied Jin carefully. "You expect me to believe that? A kid who can obliterate a Level 18 Ghost in seconds just happened to pick up these techniques on his own?" He chuckled, shaking his head. "C'mon, don't mess with me."

Jin remained silent for a moment, weighing his options. He needed an answer that was both plausible and non-suspicious. After a brief pause, he shrugged. "I found an old book in a library a few years ago. It detailed techniques for dealing with spirits, so I practiced on my own."

Minato raised an eyebrow. "A book, huh?" He crossed his arms and thought about it. "Well, it's not impossible. There have been cases like that before..." He scratched his chin before breaking into another carefree laugh. "Hahaha! Man, you really are something else! No teacher, no training, just a book?! That's insane!"

Jin didn't react much, simply watching Minato with his usual calm demeanor. However, Minato's expression suddenly turned more serious. "Well, whatever the case, I've got a proposal for you. How about joining the Spirit Tower?"

Jin narrowed his eyes slightly. "Spirit Tower?"

Minato grinned. "Yup! It's rare to find a genius like you in this world. You're already strong, but with proper training, you could become one of the top exorcists!" He patted Jin's shoulder playfully. "Besides, the pay's good. And since you look young, you can even enroll in the Spirit Academy!"

Jin's gaze sharpened slightly at the mention of the academy. "Spirit Academy?"

Minato's eyes lit up as he launched into an explanation. "Yeah! The Spirit Academy is the foundation of humanity's fight against spirits. It's where young exorcists are trained. Think of it as the main pillar that keeps society safe. It's directly linked to the Spirit Tower, which is the biggest exorcist organization in Japan and the first one ever created!"

Jin processed this information carefully. If he joined, it would give him direct access to more knowledge about this world, including the organizations that controlled spiritual activity. This could be a great opportunity.

Minato watched him with a knowing look. "You're thinking it through, huh? No need to rush. I get it, it's a big decision." He then suddenly exclaimed, "Wait a minute! I forgot to ask—are you even a licensed spirit exorcist?"

Jin blinked before shaking his head. "No."

Minato froze, then deadpanned before dramatically holding his forehead. "Hah?! You mean to tell me you've been exorcising spirits without a license?!" He burst into laughter, shaking his head in disbelief. "Kid, you're killing me here. You're a damn monster, and you're not even registered?! Hahaha!"

Jin sighed, already used to Minato's eccentric behavior.

Still chuckling, Minato waved a hand. "Alright, alright. Since you're still thinking things over—and you're not even a licensed exorcist yet—let's get you registered first at the Exorcist Association. Can't have you running around like some rogue vigilante."

Jin nodded. "Fine."

Minato smirked. "Good. Then let's get going!"

Jin and Minato arrived at Arakurayama Sengen Park, a towering structure built in an old-fashioned Japanese architectural style. The building emanated a mysterious yet dignified aura, standing tall against the backdrop of the mountain.

Stepping out of the taxi, Minato led Jin to the entrance. As they reached the grand doors, Minato muttered a chant under his breath, "Omona kyōkai."

The moment the doors creaked open, the scene before them shifted in an instant. What was once a traditional structure transformed into a modern, high-tech facility bustling with exorcists and personnel moving efficiently through the halls.

Jin got surprised after the chant but didn't ask Minato about it. 'Will I be able to learn this at the Spirit Academy too?' Jin thought.

At the entrance, a uniformed guard greeted them with a respectful nod. Without stopping, Minato walked forward with his usual confident stride, leading Jin directly to the front desk, where a well-dressed woman sat, her sharp gaze scanning the documents in front of her.

Minato placed his spirit license card on the counter and spoke. "I'm here to register this kid beside me—Jin Kyoto—as a Spirit Exorcist."

The woman glanced at Jin briefly before taking Minato's card, scanning it with a device that emitted a faint glow. After confirming the credentials, she nodded and adjusted her glasses.

"Understood. Registration requires three assessments: a spirit energy measurement, a technique test, and a combat test. If he passes all three, he will officially be recognized as a licensed Spirit Exorcist. Shall we proceed?"

Minato grinned. "Of course. Let's get this done."

With that, they followed the woman through a corridor, arriving at a spacious examination hall. In the center of the room, a specially enchanted exorcist paper was placed on a raised pedestal.

"This is a Spirit Energy Measurement Paper," the woman explained. "When you channel your spirit energy into it, it will reveal your energy level. The classifications are as follows:

Level 1-10: Spirit Apprentice

Level 11-20: Spirit Expert

Level 21-30: Spirit Master

Level 31-40: Spirit Grandmaster

And so on."

Jin stepped forward, intrigued by the test. He placed his hand on the paper and focused, allowing his spirit energy to flow into it. The paper absorbed his energy, and after a moment, glowing numbers appeared.

25.

A heavy silence filled the room.

The woman nearly dropped her clipboard, her face turning pale as her eyes widened in disbelief. Minato, while also surprised, let out a low chuckle, having somewhat expected it after witnessing Jin's overwhelming strength against a Level 18 ghost.

'Hmm, well looks like I need to upgrade my training' Minato thought. He has a level 29 spirit energy which is equivalent to a Spirit Master.

Jin cleared his throat, snapping them both out of their shock. The woman quickly composed herself, straightening her posture as she adjusted her glasses once more.

"Ahem. Let's proceed to the next examination."

The group moved to another section of the hall, where a spacious testing ground was set up.

"For the technique test," the woman explained, "you must demonstrate a spirit-based technique, which will be evaluated based on effectiveness, control, and power."

Jin nodded, stepping into the testing area. Taking a deep breath, he activated his signature ability—☯Spirit Cloak☯. A cyan aura erupted around him, coating his entire body in a flowing, ethereal energy.

The woman got shocked but he was not that surprise because of the spirit energy that was test earlier after that the woman still professionally observed as Jin performed speed and strength tests while maintaining the form. As he dashed forward, the motion sensors struggled to track his movements. When he struck a reinforced dummy, the sheer force caused cracks to form on its surface.

After witnessing his performance, the woman jotted down her notes, her lips pressing into a thin line before finally speaking. "Your technique has been classified as a B-class ability."

Jin, intrigued, turned to Minato. "What are the classifications for techniques?"

Minato placed his hands on his hips, grinning. "Techniques are ranked from F to S grade. The classifications are:

F: Basic, common techniques.

E: Slightly refined techniques with practical use.

D: Advanced techniques requiring skillful energy control.

C: Stronger techniques used in battle by experienced exorcists.

B: High-tier techniques with significant combat potential.

A: Rare techniques used by top-class exorcists.

S: Legendary techniques that only a handful of people in history have ever mastered."

Jin hummed in thought, his mind racing. "Seems like I still have a long way to go… and a lot more techniques to discover."

Minato chuckled. "That's the spirit!"

The woman clapped her hands, drawing their attention. "Since you've completed the second assessment, we will proceed with the final test—the combat assessment."
