"This seems interesting, let's give it a try."
Though Sun Wuming didn't know what Raihan had in mind, he agreed after half a second of thought.
Come to think of it, since that inconclusive battle with Luana last time, he hadn't had a proper battle with anyone.
Let alone against a Champion-level trainer.
This should be interesting.
But if Sun Wuming knew what Raihan was thinking, he'd definitely wonder if this dark-skinned guy had lost his mind.
Why do you care if your best friend's woman was taken?
And your method isn't even right.
What you should be doing is hurrying to notify your friend.
Ugh... though that probably wouldn't help either.
"Are you serious?"
Sonia asked in disbelief: "You've only been a trainer for a few months, right? And you're going to battle Raihan? He's Champion-level!"
Noticing the worry in Sonia's eyes, Raihan became even more convinced that Leon was being cheated on.
"It's not like there's anything to lose, what's wrong with giving it a try?"
Sun Wuming retorted.
Sonia was speechless.
Isn't she just worried about his self-esteem taking a hit?
But Sonia was overthinking it.
Sun Wuming never cared about that from start to finish.
His attitude toward Pokémon battles was just like playing a game.
Winning would be great, losing wouldn't matter, since there wasn't much to lose anyway.
As long as it wasn't as frustrating and sickening as Ash's Greninja's defeat.
On the side, Marnie widened her eyes in shock.
Only a trainer for a few months?
Isn't that about the same as her?
But why did she always have the impression that Sun Wuming was so strong?
Thinking carefully, Marnie realized that the reason she thought Sun Wuming was strong and wanted to learn from him was because he himself was indeed powerful.
He made Zacian and Zamazenta, the two heroes who saved the Galar region, cry out in pain.
As for Sun Wuming's actual abilities as a trainer, Marnie hadn't really seen them yet.
"Good luck!"
Marnie clenched her pink fists and raised her head to encourage Sun Wuming.
She wanted to see just how amazing Sun Wuming was as a trainer.
...
...
When people saw Raihan and Sun Wuming walk to the command platform in the arena,
The remaining spectators who hadn't left yet cast curious glances.
Especially when they saw both of them take out their Poké Balls, they were even more surprised.
Could there be another gym challenge?
"What's going on? Isn't the match over?"
"Looks like someone else is challenging the gym!"
"Eh? Wasn't there supposed to be only one match?"
"This is getting interesting, let's see who's brave enough to challenge Raihan."
The audience enthusiastically discussed among themselves, and those who had just left their seats sat back down again.
But their mood was the same as the previous match, not believing Raihan would lose.
"Prepare for battle! Flygon!"
Raihan, as a Dragon-type trainer, finally brought out a Dragon-type Pokémon.
Though it was a dragon that didn't look much like one.
"That guy Raihan, using Flygon of all things."
Sonia, who had sat back down with Marnie, frowned in displeasure.
That Flygon was one of Raihan's main fighters, ranking second in strength among his team, definitely Champion-level.
Isn't this clearly bullying?
Although she knew Sun Wuming's personal strength, Sonia also knew he was a rookie who had only gotten his first Pokémon a few months ago.
How could he possibly beat a Champion-level opponent?
Marnie, hugging her Morpeko, said nothing.
Her beautiful eyes were fixed on Sun Wuming on the other side of the field, and she could sense strong confidence in his gaze.
"Today might be your chance for a major breakthrough."
Sun Wuming threw his Poké Ball with a backhand.
With a flash of white light, Kubfu did a flip in mid-air and landed with Bruce Lee's signature pose.
"A Kubfu? That's quite a rare Pokémon."
Raihan's eyes lit up, but then his expression turned somewhat nasty as he smirked:
"Though your taste in women seems poor, some women are better left alone."
"Huh?"
Sun Wuming raised an eyebrow slightly, wondering what was wrong with this dark-skinned guy.
"You can have the first move, beginner."
Raihan said no more, hands in his pockets as he shrugged.
Having heard from Sonia that this person had only caught his first Pokémon a few months ago,
Raihan naturally didn't take Sun Wuming seriously.
"Alright then."
Sun Wuming couldn't be bothered to be polite with him.
After exchanging a look with Kubfu.
Kubfu suddenly stepped forward with his left foot.
Just when everyone thought Kubfu was about to take a second step,
They saw it spring up, reaching Flygon's face in almost the blink of an eye.
Even the usually expressionless Marnie couldn't help but exclaim: "What a jump!"
The remaining spectators widened their eyes in shock.
This wasn't just jumping far, this was practically flying low!
"Hyah!"
Kubfu let out a sharp cry, his right foot bursting with dazzling white light as he aimed a kick at Flygon's face.
Mega Kick!
"Flygon!"
Even Raihan was startled, hurriedly waving his hand and shouting.
Flygon twisted its long neck backwards, its face barely managing to dodge Kubfu's flying kick.
"Dragon Pulse!"
Raihan called out again.
Flygon, having barely dodged by twisting its neck, turned its face back, took a deep breath, and released a spiral of blue-green energy.
