Chapter 52 — Bear Disciple: So It's Just a Weakling

Opening the door with curiosity.

Marnie and Sonia were surprised to discover.

This temporary cabin was fully furnished with a sofa, TV, dining table, and everything else needed.

Not to mention the bedroom, toilet, and bathroom.

If it weren't for seeing through the window that there were no water-type Pokémon emerging from Lake Axew outside, Marnie and the others would have thought they were in some town hotel.

"The fridge is fully stocked with ingredients."

Sonia opened the refrigerator and said with a graceful smile:

"Now I can show off my skills."

Just as Sun Wuming was about to sit down with a drink, Marnie beside him suddenly tugged at his clothes.

Turning to look, he saw the pure and innocent girl expressionlessly pleading:

"Can you train with me?"

Train?

Hearing Marnie's words, Sonia, who was cutting vegetables at the counter, paused.

Remembering Sun Wuming's special training methods with Gloria and Luna.

Then glancing at Marnie's fair face and slender long legs.

The perfect "fair, young, and slim" model.

Could she handle it?

Sonia wondered privately.

Fortunately, Sun Wuming didn't hold Marnie to the same standards as Gloria and Luna.

The two walked out of the cabin and stood facing each other, ready to start a practice battle by sending out their Pokémon.

Sun Wuming wanted to judge Marnie's battle style through this.

Marnie's ball-throwing pose was like a baseball player's, lifting her fair and delicate long leg from under her pink skirt, throwing out a green and black Dark Ball.

It was a special Poké Ball designed to catch Pokémon living in caves and other dark places.

A sneering, mischievous-looking punk Pokémon bounced out of the ball.

"This Pokémon is... Morgrem, if I remember the name correctly."

Sun Wuming recalled from the Galar Pokédex he had seen at Sonia's house.

This Pokémon that looked like a delinquent had left quite an impression on him.

Plus, the Dark/Fairy type combination was quite rare.

Though for a girl to use such an ugly Pokémon.

Marnie's aesthetic sense seemed quite unique.

"Go ahead."

Sun Wuming naturally sent out Bear Disciple.

Zacian and Zamazenta might technically count as his Pokémon now?

But there was no way Sun Wuming would send them out, that would just make Marnie cry.

"Marnie, you make the first move."

Sun Wuming gestured with a nod.

Marnie didn't hesitate, raising her small hand and calling out:

"Million Ton Punch!"

"Fake Out!"

Morgrem shook its head and raised its right fist which burst into white light as it charged at Bear Disciple.

"Not even as strong as Luna..."

Sun Wuming thought to himself.

But it wasn't surprising, after all, no matter how weak Luna was, she had still been a Gym Leader for several years.

While Marnie was just a rookie who had been traveling for less than three months.

And Bear Disciple, standing before Sun Wuming, raised an eyebrow and thought dismissively "So it's just a weakling."

"Fake Out!"

When Morgrem reached Bear Disciple, it swung its fist at the opponent's face.

However, Bear Disciple slightly shifted his body, letting Morgrem's fist barely graze past his nose.

Then extended his leg to trip Morgrem's ankle.

Thud!

Morgrem stumbled and fell flat on its face in an extremely pathetic way.

"Pfft!"

Sonia couldn't help laughing, though she hadn't meant to.

"Morgrem, get up quickly!"

There was a hint of urgency in Marnie's voice.

The punk Pokémon hurriedly tried to flip over and get up.

However, just as it turned its body over, Bear Disciple suddenly reached out, grabbed its neck, and pulled it close to his face.

Bear Disciple's left hand gripped Morgrem's neck while his right hand clenched into a fist as big as a sandbag, bursting with blinding light.

Million Ton Punch!

Bear Disciple stared straight at the Morgrem in his grip, as if saying "Let me show you what a real Million Ton Punch looks like"!

In the next instant, Bear Disciple's fist shot forward as Morgrem watched in terror!

"Stop!"

Just as Bear Disciple's fist was about to break Morgrem's nose.

At Sun Wuming's command, Bear Disciple's powerful punch stopped abruptly at the last moment.

The released Morgrem nearly fainted from fear, quickly running back to hide behind Marnie, trembling.

"I think I understand your strength level now."

Sun Wuming walked over and patted the dejected Marnie's hair, "Let's eat first."

...

During dinner.

"Marnie, are you planning to participate in this year's Galar Star Tournament?"

Because of Marnie's crushing defeat earlier, the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

So Sonia, being the caring big sister figure, brought up a new topic.

"Mm."

Marnie's small face still showed traces of disappointment as she softly hummed and nodded.

"Isn't it too late?"

The thought emerged simultaneously in Sun Wuming and Sonia's minds.

With less than half a year left.

For a complete rookie to rapidly improve their strength while also finding time to collect eight badges.

It seemed impossible no matter how you looked at it.

Even those game protagonists who were practically bugs needed a full year to collect eight badges and fight their way through the Champion Cup to become the new Champion.

After dinner, in the bathroom.

Marnie quickly rinsed off, then stepped into the bathtub, her small face flushed from the warm bathwater.

"Mmm~"

Marnie occasionally let out comfortable sighs, her curved but still youthful figure barely visible.

"Marnie, can I come in?"

Sonia's voice suddenly came from outside the door.

"Mm."

Marnie softly responded.

The door opened, and Sonia, wearing only a bath towel, walked in.

"Don't be too hasty, you've only just started your journey, take it slow."

Sonia turned on the shower head and started washing, smiling reassuringly.

"Mm..."

Marnie hummed another "mm"

If Marnie was carefree like Ash, just traveling for her dreams, she wouldn't need to rush.

But besides her own wishes, Marnie's journey also carried the responsibility of revitalizing her hometown.

This made her want to achieve results quickly.

Noticing Marnie's expression, Sonia knew she still hadn't gotten over her crushing defeat.

Sonia slowly stepped into the pool, causing water to overflow from the bathtub.

Their delicate fair collarbones floated on the water's surface.

Sonia smiled and said:

"You were also attracted by Wuming's strength, that's why you wanted to travel with him, right?"

Marnie nodded, then after two seconds tilted her head in confusion:

"Also?"

"You're already the third one."

Sonia said with a helpless expression.

Then she reached out to tap Marnie's cute nose, "Don't worry, when I came in, I noticed that guy was already thinking about how to train you,"

Speaking to this point, Sonia puffed up her cheeks and said coquettishly:

"Really, I don't know if that guy is addicted to taking disciples or just has ulterior motives towards pretty girls."

Marnie's eyes lit up, but hearing Sonia's words, she became a bit embarrassed and buried her face in the water, blowing bubbles as she said:

"Sonia is the pretty one, and big..."

Sonia also blushed, retorting:

"You-you're still young, yours will definitely get bigger in the future!"
