The sound of shoes clicking against the hard ceramic tile floor echoed in the dining area, making the people sitted at the dining table to turn their heads to look over.
An elegant and graceful figure appeared before their eyes. She was tall and slender with a pale skin that made her look so delicate. Her eyes were deep and beautiful like the ocean, her tall nose and beautiful red colored lips. Her beautiful royal dress complemented her look, making her look beautiful.
She bowed her head and greeted in a respectful voice that sounded like tingling bells. "Good morning, your royal highness, Queen Aria, Princess Solace and…"
She raised her eyes to rest them on Damon's body as her lips curled up. She lowered her eyes to resume her elegant posture as she finished her words, "Prince Damon"
Jasper nodded his head and smiled. "Come have your seat and join us, Princess Adair"
Adair straightened her back and walked over, pulling out a chair to sit beside Damon. A maid walked over with an extra plate and cutlery and placed it on the table. She took a step back, and bowed respectfully. "Princess Adair, what will you love to eat?"
Adair scanned the dishes on the table and her gaze landed on Damon's plate. She smiled and answered, "Same as prince Damon's"
The maid took a step forward to serve her the food and left afterwards.
Jasper cleared his throat and said in a deep voice, "Princess Adair, we didn't know you were coming. We would have prepared for your arrival. Did King Stefan send you to me?"
"No, my dad doesn't know I'm here. I came on my own"
Jasper and Stefan are childhood best friends and they grew up together to rule their own kingdom. When Adair was born, Jasper sent a marriage proposal to have her married into his family as his daughter-in-law which Stefan agreed to.
Damon as the eldest son was granted the title by the king as the recognized heir to the throne and without a wife, that wouldn't be possible, so they had a meeting to have Damon married to Adair since they had been brought together since they were kids.
However, Damon disagreed, saying, he wasn't ready for marriage which made Adair disappointed and sad. Ever since they were kids, she had a crush on Damon and after hearing that they were both getting married, she had thought of confessing her feelings to Damon.
Adair turned her head to look at Damon and bit her lower lips. Damon had always been so cold, heartless and ruthless which made her take a step back from confessing her feelings to him.
She hadn't been able to make friends with him, making it difficult for her to know what he likes and dislikes.
When she saw that he didn't give her a single glance, she pursed her lips and lowered her head. She didn't believe that Damon's heart was that cold that he wouldn't fall in love. She knew she had a chance as long as she didn't give up.
She had whined and cried to her father, telling him that she wanted only Damon as her husband and she wouldn't accept any other proposal, so who was she to give up?
She was the royal princess of Yarnat empire, Princess Adair. The words "give up" were not in her dictionary.
About half an hour later, Damon cleaned his lips with a napkin and stood up. "I'm done"
Adair raised her head and saw that he was already walking away. She hurriedly stood up and ran after him. "Prince Damon, please hold on"
However, Damon didn't bother with her and continued to walk away. And Adair wasn't going to give up. She continued to run after him while calling out to him. "Prince Damon-"
All of a sudden, Damon stopped dead in his tracks and because Adair hadn't controlled her steps and didn't expect him to stop all of a sudden, she ran into him and hit his back.
"Oww…" she gasped and let out a painful cry. She raised her hand to rub her already swollen and red forehead. She stared at Damon's hard back that looked like rock and tears welled up in her eyes.
Damon turned around to look at her and his lips curled into an indescribable smile. Adair took a step back in fear when she saw that smile. The anger that flashed past his eyes was enough to make her legs go weak. His entire handsome face had darkened making him look scary.
"Pri-Prince Damon… I-I… I'm sorry…" she stuttered as she said. She didn't dare to raise her head to look into his eyes. Her eyes were filled with tears and they fell from her cheeks.
She hadn't been treated like this and it made her feel so uncomfortable, but because it was coming from Damon, she accepted it and bowed her head.
She felt Damon take a step closer and her body trembled. She had heard a lot about him ruthlessly dealing with people he didn't like. She took a step backward in fear as she said, "Prince Da-"
Before she could complete her words, she was interrupted by Damon's cold voice that made the hair on her body stand. "Do you know what I hate the most? I hate it when women like you follow me around. It's disgusting and it wants to make me silence them"
Adair's eyes dilated as she raised her head in disbelief, looking straight into Damon's gray eyes. Her lips trembled as she struggled to say a word, but found it difficult to. She looked at Damon who was trying to control his anger with his jaw clenched.
She didn't believe Damon was that ruthless to think of killing her. She was Princess Adair, the most beautiful woman in the Yarnat empire and she had everything a man wanted in a woman.
However, Damon didn't bother looking at her, taking her as a stranger to him.
"Forget about the marriage whatever we have… it's nonsense to me" His words were like the cold breeze of winter hitting Adair's delicate figure. "I don't like women like you and I'll never like women like you. Get that into your brain"
