Hearing Rachel Lewis gather the courage to say what she wanted her father to do as his daughter was a pivotal moment. "My daughter, I want to take you to Longan's house as a gift. I will bring their son," Rachel's father said. Rachel and her mother's eyes widened in shock. Cassandra had no idea about her husband's plan and was now utterly speechless. Rachel, on the other hand, was greatly surprised, though this was exactly what she had wanted and had been trying to lead her parents to see her as. She thought about how to replace her sister Julie.
"What, Father? No, I can't seriously do this. My sister was the one he wanted to marry. You forget, how can I do this to her? No way, I can't," Rachel immediately rejected her father's offer with powerful acting skills.
"My daughter, you forget you said you would do what I want," Lewis said with warm, serious eyes. Cassandra, who was sitting beside her husband, listened without saying anything, a faint frown on her face.
"Father, I never thought you were going to say this. Seriously, Father, you want to replace me with my sister? How can you even do that? Is it even possible?" Rachel added the last sentence deliberately.
"Of course, my daughter, it's possible. It can," Lewis said. "Look, they are looking for a wife to marry their son, right? I'm sure they won't reject you. If I take you there and tell them whatever Julie had done, they will start resenting her, and of course, they won't like to have such a person as their daughter-in-law, right?"
"Secondly, when I tell them such and then I will tell them the reason I brought you there, they don't have to look around and go round looking for another lady to marry their son, right?" Lewis said, ending his sentence with a smile as he looked at his daughter, who listened attentively.
"Father, but..." "There is no but, dear," Lewis interrupted, his daughter quickly shutting her lips and nodding her head obediently, tears in her eyes.
To her parents, the tears seemed to be because of Rachel's unwillingness, but in reality, they were because she had gotten what she wanted in the end.
And she smirk.
Meanwhile, Roman's office was a fortress of power, with sleek, black marble floors and walls lined with towering bookshelves. The air was thick with the scent of cigar smoke and leather. Roman's desk was a massive, mahogany monolith, adorned with a single, silver pen holder.
Just then, the driver informed, "Boss, we've arrived at the house."
Roman, who was sitting and looking at the outside busy street, took a deep breath as he twirled around on his seat. Now looking at the driver, Roman nodded slowly, yet proudly, full of confidence. His intelligent eyes showed no emotions.
"I will take my leave now, sir," he said and quickly made his way out of the office.
Alone in the office, Roman twirled again in his confident chair and, after some minutes, turned around again, burying his head in the file that needed his attention. The office was spacious, with a large mahogany desk in the center of the room.
"Oh my, this is so relaxing," Julie said, laying on the bed peacefully. Just as Julie closed her eyes, she immediately opened them and sat up on the bed. 'How can you relax?' a voice whispered in her head. "Yeah, how can I relax? First of all, I'm in a stranger's house. Secondly, I don't know what he wants from me. Thirdly, I have nowhere to go, but that's if he sends me out. Fourthly, I have to look for a job, even though I didn't collect my credentials. Hmm, I'm in deep trouble," Julie thought, her mind racing.
As the hours passed, Julie's thoughts grew weary, and she gradually fell into a deep slumber. Time quickly shifted from morning to evening, with Julie sleeping peacefully, her hair sprawled beautifully on the bed.
Slowly, Julie adjusted on the bed as she woke up, feeling refreshed. "Hmm, sleeping is wonderful," Julie murmured, opening her long, beautiful, slim eyes. "Oh my," Julie gasped after her eyes landed on the clock in the room that ticked 5:00.
Immediately, Julie sat up on the bed and quickly got down, heading straight to the bathroom. After washing her face, she made her way out of the room.
"Hmm, what am I going to do now that I'm alone?" she said as her feet led her to the kitchen. "He is really rich," Julie said, twirling around the kitchen in awe, opening cabinets and closing them.
"Let's see what we have in the fridge," Julie said, moving to the refrigerator.
"Hmmmmm~~~~," Julie hummed, scanning the fridge. "Though I wasn't poor in my life, but this man is seriously rich," Julie said, taking a deep breath.
"So, what am I going to cook for dinner?" Julie asked, contemplating. After ten minutes, Julie put on an apron and started cooking.
Meanwhile in RJ co-operation to in Roman's office as Roman stood up from his chair, his eyes seemed to bore into the souls of those around him. His presence was commanding, his aura intimidating. He was a man not to be trifled with.
His assistant, a timid-looking man but brilliant nodded hastily. " Have a good evening, sir."
Roman's eyes narrowed. "I'll be back. And I expect everything to be in order."
With that, he turned and strode out of the building, his long, black knee length coat fit his build handsome body perfectly. The atmosphere in the office seemed to lighten slightly as he departed, but the sense of foreboding lingered.
Roman's car, a sleek, black bullet of a vehicle, was waiting for him outside. The driver, a hulking giant of a man, opened the door for Roman.
"Where to, sir?" the driver asked, his voice deep and gravelly.
Roman's eyes gleamed in the dark. " North."Roman said with a deep voice.
The driver nodded, his face expressionless. "Yes, sir."
An hour and a half later, Julie finished everything and, after bathing, she walked to the walk-in closet. Her mouth dropped as she opened it. "What is this I'm seeing? It's full of clothes," Julie said, stunned, her hand trailing over the clothes. "They are beautiful," Julie said subconsciously.
Julie looked at the clothes over and over before selecting one and wearing it. She made her way to the kitchen to set the dishes on the dining table. "All done," Julie said, appreciating her handiwork, rubbing her palms together.
Just as Julie turned around, she was shocked to see Roman standing at the door, looking directly at her.
