Joanne stood frozen at the entrance of the mansion, Alexander's words replaying in her mind.
"This marriage isn't a simple game of revenge… My world is dangerous."
Her fingers clenched slightly as she watched him, still seated in his wheelchair, his expression calm but his presence suffocating.
The man she had thought was just a wealthy heir was actually the dominating CEO of King Multinational.
And yet, she still knew so little about him.
Taking a deep breath, she followed him inside.
Martha greeted them with her usual warmth, but Joanne barely registered the older woman's words as she climbed the grand staircase.
She needed to think.
She needed to breathe.

Inside Her Room
The moment Joanne shut the door behind her, she let out a shaky breath.
Everything was happening too fast.
She walked toward her bed, catching sight of the reflection in the full-length mirror.
The same woman looked back at her—yet, something was different.
She was no longer Joanne Baker, the illegitimate daughter of the Baker family.
She was Joanne King.
The wife of Alexander King.
The thought sent a shiver down her spine.
She had entered this marriage thinking she was using him. But the truth was, she had no idea who she had gotten involved with.
After freshening up she lay on the bed thinking of what happened that night. Her head spinning, "How did I marry the Alexander King of the king multinational."
She said to herself.
A soft knock on the door pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Come in."
Martha stepped inside, her eyes filled with an unreadable emotion.
"Mrs. King," she said gently, "I thought you might need some tea to relax."
Joanne gave her a small, grateful smile. "Thank you, Martha."
As she took the cup, Martha hesitated before speaking again.
"I've worked for the King family for many years," she said. "And I've seen many people try to understand Mr. Alexander."
Joanne's grip tightened around the cup.
Martha's voice softened. "Be careful, dear. In this house, nothing is as simple as it seems."
With that, she left the room, closing the door behind her.
Joanne stared after her, Martha's words echoing in her mind.
"Nothing is as simple as it seems."
Her heart pounded as realization set in.
She wasn't just married to a powerful man.
She had stepped into a world she didn't understand.
And there was no turning back.
On the other side Alexander was in a terrible state in his study, he can't take his mind of Joanne, "God she was so beautiful," he said to himself. He has taken one park of cigarette.
He smoked this much when his mind is stressed. And now Joanne is stressing his mind.
