Chapter 82: Inviting People
Ji Qinghe felt that the parents of the students should be consulted on this matter, so he asked, "Mr. Li, how do you plan to handle this situation?"
Hearing Ji Qinghe's words, Li Yi responded calmly, "Teacher Ji, you don't have to worry about this matter. Just leave it to me!"
"Do you need me to ask the police station for assistance?"
Li Yi shook his head and replied, "Not for now. I will let you know if I need their help."
"Alright, just don't be impulsive in handling this."
"Don't worry!"
After saying this, Li Yi immediately left the school.
Before leaving, he carefully asked Chen Qing and Li Yue about the situation regarding those gangsters.
To his surprise, the gang members were not much older than Xu Qingyao. According to the two girls, these gangsters were likely students from a nearby technical secondary school.
After learning this, Li Yi had a clearer understanding of the situation.
In this era, the high school entrance examination was a serious matter. Many students couldn't get into a good high school, but they had another option—technical secondary schools.
In the 1990s, technical secondary schools and colleges were quite popular since they provided vocational training, allowing graduates to secure stable jobs earlier than university students. Many young people opted for this route to enter the workforce sooner.
However, not all technical school students were dedicated to learning. Many of them wasted time loitering, skipping classes, and frequenting places like billiard halls and video game arcades.
It seemed that the gang harassing Xu Qingyao belonged to this kind of crowd.
Li Yi's expression turned serious. This issue was beyond what Xu Qingyao could handle on her own.
Now that he had figured out the root of the problem, it was time for him to step in.
No matter what, he wouldn't allow anyone to bully Xu Qingyao!
Although they weren't related by blood, she held an irreplaceable position in his life—just as important as Xu Qingnan.
In his previous life, though she often complained about him, she had always been a great help in both his business and personal life.
Yes, a partner.
Not in the romantic sense, but as someone who stood by his side, supporting him in every way possible.
At the start of his business journey, Li Yi was constantly occupied, leaving him with no time to take care of himself. During that period, Xu Qingyao looked after him, ensuring he was healthy and well-fed.
After Xu Qingnan's tragic suicide, Li Yi's relationship with his parents had become strained. During this difficult time, Xu Qingyao took on the responsibility of caring for them in his place.
Even until the moment he was reborn, this foolish girl had continued to support him silently, remaining unmarried well into her forties.
She had devoted her entire life to him and the Li family. How could he let anyone bully her?
One of Li Yi's most important goals after his rebirth was to help this girl get into university.
At present, university admissions were extremely competitive, making it difficult to pass. However, with his knowledge of the future and his own tutoring, he was confident she could succeed.
Besides, Xu Qingyao's academic performance wasn't terrible—just slightly unbalanced in certain subjects.
With his guidance, Li Yi was sure she could overcome these challenges.
But if these gangsters continued to harass her, it could directly affect her college entrance exams.
This issue needed to be resolved immediately!
However, handling this matter alone wasn't wise.
Since these gangsters often came after Xu Qingyao, he would wait for them—but he needed reinforcements.
He immediately thought of his brothers.
Half an Hour Later – The Clothing Store
Li Yi returned to the clothing store.
As soon as he reached the entrance, he saw Wei Sanpao holding a hammer, knocking on the store sign.
"Old Third, what are you doing?" Li Yi asked.
Hearing his voice, Wei Sanpao immediately put down the hammer, wiped his hands on his vest, and grinned.
"Brother Yi, this sign was a little crooked, so I was fixing it while there aren't too many customers in the store."
Li Yi glanced inside and saw several customers browsing the clothing racks.
However, he didn't see Xu Qingnan.
"Old Third, have you seen your sister-in-law?" he asked.
Wei Sanpao climbed down the ladder and replied, "She's inside. Didn't you see her?"
"Maybe I missed her," Li Yi muttered.
Then, patting Wei Sanpao on the shoulder, he whispered, "Old Third, gather a few of our brothers and meet me at No. 1 High School this afternoon."
"Why? What's happening at No. 1 High School?"
"Yaoyao ran into some trouble at school. Get some guys who can fight."
Hearing this, Wei Sanpao's eyes widened in rage.
"Someone dared to bully Yaoyao? Who the hell has the guts?!"
"Brother Yi, do you need us to bring weapons?"
"How many people should I call?"
Li Yi sighed helplessly. Despite his maturity, Wei Sanpao still had the impulsiveness of a hot-blooded youth.
"No need for weapons. They're just some brats—we just need to scare them off."
Wei Sanpao nodded, though he was still visibly angry.
Someone had dared to mess with Xu Qingyao? They must have had a death wish!
Li Yi was about to enter the store when he suddenly saw Xu Qingnan coming out.
The moment he met her gaze, he felt his heart sink.
Did she overhear our conversation?
Li Yi silently prayed that she hadn't. Plastering a smile on his face, he greeted her.
"Sister, I'm back!"
"What's going on with Yaoyao?" Xu Qingnan asked, her tone serious. "Don't try to fool me!"
Li Yi sighed. He had no choice but to explain the entire situation he had learned from the school.
After listening to him, Xu Qingnan's expression darkened.
"So, you plan to take Sanpao and the others to scare those little thugs?"
Li Yi shrugged. "Yaoyao was bullied—we have to retaliate."
"Can't we call the police?" she asked, clearly disapproving of his approach.
Li Yi shook his head. "No."
"Why not? They were blackmailing her! Isn't that enough reason to involve the police?"
"First, we don't have solid evidence. Second, Yaoyao hit one of them with a brick, so even if we report it, the police will likely just dismiss it as kids being reckless."
Xu Qingnan frowned, her concern evident. "Will this really solve the problem? What if they come back to harass her again?"
Li Yi smiled reassuringly.
"Trust me, I know how to handle punks like them."
"Fine," she relented. "But make sure no one gets hurt!"
"Don't worry, I won't cross the line," Li Yi promised.
This was personal.
No one bullied his people and got away with it.
