Chapter 106: Poaching
Despite losing a television, Li Yi maintained a calm demeanor, acting as though nothing had happened.
On the other hand, Xu Qingnan, who was seated at the desk in the clothing store, had a deep frown on her face.
Seeing Li Yi so relaxed only added to her frustration.
Hadn't he promised to resolve the missing TV issue? Why was he now sitting outside enjoying the breeze as if nothing was wrong?
However, her frustration wasn't entirely because of Li Yi's attitude—it was mainly due to the missing television.
Xu Qingnan was well aware that Li Yi had been running around tirelessly these past few days. Seeing him lying back on a recliner, she was somewhat reassured. She knew that the current Li Yi was no longer the unreliable person he once was. He must have a plan.
Thinking of this, her tension eased slightly.
Unbeknownst to her, Li Yi was deep in thought.
Who had stolen the TV?
Judging from how easily the thief navigated the warehouse, it was highly likely that the culprit was an insider.
Only a few people were familiar with the warehouse layout—Xiao Wu, Da Chu, Wei Zi, Da Long, A Liang, and a handful of others.
This group had once followed Wei Sanpao but had now been recruited into Li Yi's business. Including them, there were more than ten men working under him.
However, among them, Li Yi was only truly familiar with Xiao Wu and Da Chu. The others, he hadn't spent much time with.
The facts were clear—the thief had a specific goal in mind. The missing television wasn't a random theft; it was a targeted operation.
If it had been an outsider, how could they have known exactly which warehouse stored valuable home appliances? The footprints left behind also suggested that the perpetrator had climbed over the wall and headed straight to the storage area, without any hesitation or signs of searching.
Whoever did this knew the place well.
The thief was cautious, but unfortunately for them, they underestimated Li Yi's intelligence.
Since it was an internal matter, calling the police was out of the question.
Li Yi wasn't a saint, but he wasn't heartless either. Many of these men had once helped him catch human traffickers. They had repaid kindness with loyalty.
Even if one of them had fallen to greed, sending him to prison wasn't an option—especially in the current climate of strict crackdowns. If caught, the punishment for stealing a television could mean a minimum of ten years in prison.
Instead of harsh punishment, it was better to guide the lost back onto the right path.
After all, he had just saved Wei Sanpao from self-destruction. He wouldn't let another one of his men go down the same road.
Still, catching the thief was just a small part of his plans—his primary focus remained on business expansion.
Now that the store was fully stocked and ready, the next step was aggressive marketing.
Promotional Campaign
At the warehouse courtyard, several truck drivers had gathered under Xiao Wu's coordination.
With a friendly smile, Li Yi addressed them.
"Guys, I need your help with something. I'll explain everything now. Once it's done, there's a generous red envelope waiting for you!"
He then laid out the details of their task.
"Start from Xiangyang Avenue, head down Haixin Road, and follow the exact route I just described. While driving, turn up the speakers as loud as possible! And don't forget to put up the posters at key locations!"
The drivers exchanged glances and nodded in understanding.
Though their return to Yanbei City had been delayed by a day, Li Yi had covered all their accommodation expenses, leaving them with no complaints.
He had also paid for their meals, which further solidified their respect for him.
The lead driver, touched by Li Yi's generosity, exclaimed, "Boss Li, you're a real one!"
Li Yi didn't think much of their praise. Even if he had heard it, he would have just smiled and shaken his head.
To him, this was just a matter of basic business ethics.
If you expect people to work for you, the least you can do is take care of their basic needs. Without that, how could you build a successful business?
Unfortunately, not all business owners shared this mindset. Before his rebirth, he had seen countless heartless employers exploiting their workers.
With the help of Xiao Wu and his team, all the posters were distributed and put up.
Then, the trucks set off.
Five medium-sized trucks departed from the storefront, their convoy looking grand and impressive.
The promotional posters were simple yet powerful.
They advertised Jiangcheng's first home appliance experience store, offering after-sales services including installation, warranties, and even product exchanges.
Most importantly, customers could return or exchange their purchase within three days if they were unsatisfied—a groundbreaking policy in Jiangcheng's home appliance industry.
Additionally, the store provided home deliveries to remote areas, a service unheard of at the time.
This move would undoubtedly shake the entire market!
However, before the grand opening, there was still one critical issue that Li Yi needed to resolve personally.
Recruiting Skilled Technicians
Jiangcheng, being the capital of Jiangnan Province, already had its fair share of home appliance stores. Naturally, this meant there were many skilled repair technicians as well.
These professionals were well-versed in fixing electrical appliances and could handle customer issues efficiently.
Li Yi needed exactly this kind of talent.
Although he had already recruited a master technician along with a few apprentices, he knew that wasn't enough.
If he wanted to build a strong after-sales service team, he had to poach experienced technicians from other businesses.
Fortunately, he had an idea.
His father, Li Fengnian, had once mentioned an old comrade-in-arms who had worked as a military circuit engineer before retiring.
This man, Master Chen, was extremely skilled in electrical repairs but was currently working at a chemical plant, taking occasional side jobs to make ends meet.
Living on a modest salary, his financial situation was far from ideal.
Li Yi saw an opportunity. He wanted to recruit Master Chen as the technical director of his after-sales team.
However, this wasn't something he could do alone—he needed his father's help.
To make a good impression, Li Yi prepared a gift.
He bought an assortment of fresh fruits and snacks before heading to his father's home.
Family Matters
When he arrived, he rang the doorbell.
Peering through the security peephole, Li Fengnian saw his son and immediately opened the door.
"Qingnan didn't come back with you? Your mother and I were just talking about having her bring Qingyao home for dinner tonight," his father said.
Li Yi smiled. "Dad, Qingnan has been busy helping me at the store. Things are hectic right now, but once this business gets settled, we'll have a proper family gathering."
As he entered the house, he saw his daughter, Li Youwei, sitting on the sofa, happily munching on a red apple.
"Weiwei! Did you miss Daddy?"
Hearing his voice, the little girl put down her apple and ran into his arms.
"Daddy! Weiwei missed you! When are we going home?"
Li Yi gently patted her head and said, "As soon as Mommy and Daddy finish work, we'll bring you home. For now, can you be a good girl and stay with Grandpa and Grandma?"
The little girl nodded obediently, her big eyes full of trust.
Li Yi felt a wave of warmth wash over him.
No matter how chaotic his life got, seeing his daughter always made everything else seem insignificant.
