05 Blacksmith.

'What the? Overwrite? Status?'. Jin was dumbfounded beyond words; the thing that should have been finished in one fell swoop now had become a source of his new headache.

From what Jin heard in the carriage, the ceremony would only awaken the hidden talent within someone else in the form of skill, and it would be hidden unless the person himself did not mind announcing it to the public or letting the temple record it.

Jin was a noble. He got the privilege to hide his talent by taking a bag of cash with him. Of course, it was not Jin himself but his father, Ryan.

After a few seconds of looking at the status panel that was hovering in front of him, Jin sighed in an exaggerated manner, realizing that his talent was pretty common, in his opinion.

'A magic swordsman, huh? Well, at least it was a battle-oriented talent. I was afraid that the character named Jin would acquire skills that were not suited for battle'. He turned around and found his mother clasping her hands tight, praying to the god above.

Ryan was standing calmly beside Marina, but Jin, who knew him best, could faintly see his tense expression. It brought Jin joy to see his caring parents, who worried about him even in this kind of situation.

Jin raised his thumb up, and the two parents beamed in happiness after losing the burden that weighed their hearts. Marina dashed forward upon seeing Jin had descended the stairs.

"Good for you, Jin. Depending on what you have, now, we can train you!".

While the two mothers and son happily celebrated the occasion, Ryan emerged from the shadows, took out a bag of coins from out of nowhere and closed his distance with the head priest.

"Head priest, this is some small donation for the temple".

"Ohohoho, Thank you very much. I appreciate the donation, Lord Midnight. I pray that all the Olympian Gods will bless your family. Then, I will be permitting myself!"

Ryan, Jin and Marina, who saw the old man leave, sighed in relief, as they could escape the temple's interference.

The two, Rian and Marina, have no problem with exposing one's own talent to the temple or public, as they too did that. However, the situation is different from back then.

As someone who was raised as a commoner and gained success in adventuring, the two of their names and skills were known to others, the moment they registered as an adventurer. However, now, as someone who holds status, privacy is necessary to protect the name of the family that they have built for years.

The main reason for that is not because they would be ashamed of their own son's failure to receive non-combatant skills. What's making them worry is that Jin, who is still a kid, would be subjected to cruelty from other noble sons who tend to flaunt their skills and status. So, for now, they want to at least keep it a secret for a little longer until Jin himself is aware of his surroundings and the world. So, that he can dealt with it calmly when the times comes.

"Let's go, Irena is waiting for us".

With those words as a cue, Ryan and Marina each took Jin's hands and began to leave the place. The three left the place in silence, and soon, they were welcomed by Irena, who had already prepared the carriage to depart.

"Thanks, Irena. I'm counting on you!".

"Of course…" Irena paused. After seeing Jin's happy expression, she broke into a joyous smile. "Congratulations, young master."

"Thanks, Irena".

"Okay, let's go, Jin too, you go first!".

Marina urged Jin to climb the carriage first, and then she followed him before Ryan came in last. After making sure the family was secured inside, Irena began to rock the steer, making the horse do the pulling.

As the three were inside, Ryan solemnly looked at Jin's eyes, then opened his mouth.

"...Jin, what sort of talent do you have?".

"If you don't want to say it, it's okay. We wouldn't force you".

For a moment, Jin hesitated to expose the thing that was now appearing in his sight when he muttered the word status in his heart. 'Should I expose everything? No, let's just answer the question…'. He felt sorry for lying to his parents, but he himself was unsure of what had happened to him.

"I obtained Magic Swordsman talent".

"...".

"...".

The place was shrouded in silence and heavy feelings. When Ryan and Marina heard the words, they turned stoned; it was hard for them to open their stiffened lips.

"...That's…!?". Ryan stammered in his words while Marina, without uttering a single word, suddenly hugged the boy and buried him into her average bosom.

"As expected from my sweetheart, your talent is indeed above ours".

"Hm, above you two?".

"Hahaha, that's amazing, your talent is even better than your two brothers. Ahaha, I'm impressed, Jin!".

'Is it that amazing Magic Swordsman?'. From here on, Jin was oblivious to what he owned, which made the two parents' jaws slacken to the ground.

Magic Swordsman, Jin perhaps was biased by the talent's name because he had read too many web novels, light novels, games and even manga about the character aside from the protagonists who own it.

So, his impression of the talent was a bit lacklustre compared to the people who had true common sense from the world he is currently living in.

"Listen, Jin, Magic swordsman is a rare talent that will appear in 1 to 100.000 people".

"Eh?". Jin glanced at his mother, who still embraced him with a shocked face.

"Your mother is right because that talent would enable you to master two paths: Becoming a skilful mage and even mastering swords at the same time".

"...But, but, because of that half-assed terms mastering both path are. Would it make the skill looks ordinary?".

"No, sweetheart. It was the opposite. You will become a person who can master both magic and sword to the peak. So, that makes you a versatile combatant in any situation."

"...I see".

"Yeah, your talent was that amazing!".

As the two mothers and sons are talking to each other, Ryan knocks toward the wall and informs Irena, who is sitting behind him.

"Irena, let's go to that place we are talking about".

{Understood, my lord!} Coming a reply from behind, making Jin tilt his head to the side.

"Dear, is it too early for Jin?".

"I know what you will say about it, but I think with Jin's intellect and his temperament. He is more than ready".

Marina hung her head low, gazing lovingly toward his son. She patted the boy's soft and sleek hair, burying his face deep into her chest. Slowly, she turned her head to her husband with a threatening glare.

"You know that if something happens to Jin, you will pay for that, right!".

"!".

Ryan's body shuddered, seeing the terrifying glare that choked him from his wife. Usually, Marina was a loving and caring woman who enjoyed spoiling her man whenever there was a chance, but even with all of that. There was one thing that she couldn't help herself from exaggerating, and she couldn't let herself forgive anyone who dared to threaten Jin.

As the child who was born last and has been stuck with her from baby until now, Marina has developed a bit of heavy love for Jin. She also has two other sons, who are currently staying at the dorm in school in the capital.

However, her other two sons were not really attached to her; instead, they were attached to Irena, her personal maid and best friend. She could tolerate this because, at that time, she and Ryan had just recently risen in social status. They were too busy to take care of them, and the results are still etched deep into Marina's heart even today.

Ryan wiped the cold sweat that streamed down his forehead. He couldn't even see the front because of the blur in his eyes. He gripped his hands, which were trembling nonstop, desperately seeking warmth to melt his frozen fingertips.

"Um, I promise he will be fine".

"Okay, good!".

Jin, now freed from his mother's clutches, gulped his saliva. He also felt a tremendous chill that pierced his heart after hearing his mother's cold tone directed at his father. He looked to the side and saw his father could only smile wryly.

'Father, I am sorry for you to have to deal with all of Mother's overprotective nature to me! I hope you are well`'. Jin placed both palms together, muttering some prayer for his father's brittle heart.

The mood in the place had returned, and the three families could enjoy their conversation until the carriage they boarded came to a halt. Suddenly, Irena opened the door and informed the people inside.

"We have arrived!".

As they were stepping off the carriage, Jin saw an old building painted in grey-ashen marble standing in the corner away from the crowds' eyes. On top of the wooden door, there is a steel plate with a carving of an anvil, hammer and name.

"Is this place?".

Ryan, who loosened his lips, looked toward Jin, who seemed to understand where they were right now.

"Yes, this is a blacksmith!".
