Heal

It was honestly pretty embarrassing that someone with a dexterity stat of 26 was so easily robbed by a little girl.

While it didn't make him godly, it certainly raised his perception and bodily awareness to superhuman conditions.

The simple fact came down to two truths. He wasn't on alert, and second, he wasn't used to his new level of perception.

It seemed his skill wasn't going to let him stay idle since as soon as the other patrons saw that a little girl was able to steal a gold coin from his hand, they immediately pounced.

Thankfully, this time around he was at least on a little more alert, being able to both perceive and duck under each of the drunken haymakers thrown before running out of the tavern.

Strangely enough, despite sprinting at full speed for well over a few minutes, he was only a little out of breath.

That might not sound impressive, but even the best of professional athletes training for sprinting usually lasted only thirty to thirty-five seconds.

It was only after Vega made sure that no one was on his tail that he finally slowed down to a light jog until he reached the nicer parts of town.

On the opposite side of town, a small child ran with all her might towards a pristine temple, holding a golden coin tightly in her grasp.

Outside the temple's door, she took off her cheap sandals and busted through the heavy doors into the holy soil.

"Father Henry! Father Henry!" she cried.

Unbeknownst to her, she had interrupted a communal prayer, evoking some nasty glares from those involved.

At the head of a wooden podium, stood a priest, wearing the classic white vestment of the golden church.

The girl understood the possible reprimand for her actions, but she needed an audience for this exact moment.

She got down and begged for the priest to heal her older brother.

Whispers of heinous comments filled the once-silent temple.

"What's that disgusting thing doing here?"

"Mommy. She stinks…"

"It, honey. Don't call it a she."

With the priest silent and the others repulsed due to the girl, a young boy decided to step up and deal with the issue.

Without wasting his breath, he took out the small ceremonial dagger he had been gifted by his father.

Despite the impending danger, she stood her ground, her head still facing the ground. It was useless to resist, not when the boy in front of her had mana.

Each step he took seemed to reverberate inside her head, making her heart start to beat wildly.

It was only when he was just a moment away, did the priest finally spoke.

"Do you have a gold coin?" He asked.

The boy, recognizing that the priest was going to handle the situation, clenched his hand in frustration, but ultimately decided to go back to his seat.

"Yes, father. I have it right here," she replied.

Opening her hand, the golden shine of the coin, intrigued the members present in the room.

In the town of Cleargate, a golden coin was an uncommon sight, usually being held in a family's safe.

The fact that something so insignificant managed to find or steal a single gold coin evoked the curiosity of everyone.

"Since you have the required payment. I see no reason to decline." He smiled.

"Thank you…" She whispered.

Vega jumped onto the luxury room's soft bed and began to contemplate his eventful day.

Although it had already been a few hours since that girl had stolen his gold coin, he couldn't let it go.

He wasn't mad at the girl, but rather at himself for even letting something like that happen.

The fact he was trying to do a good thing and was rewarded with betrayal just left a sour feeling in his gut.

It served to him as a wake-up call. He wasn't on Earth anymore; he had to be careful, especially in a world that was filled with supernatural powers.

It was for that reason that he was glad to have completed his class's first milestone. If he hadn't gained those 10 levels and a hundred stat points, he might've really been beaten to death by those people in the tavern.

That's exactly why he made up his mind to get stronger. In the few hours before arriving at the inn, he spent a while looking for the basic essentials.

With 9 gold coins as his capital, he was able to buy a standard set of armor and some supplies required for the wilderness.

Although he wanted to buy a sword, by the time he reached the most renowned blacksmith in the area, he arrived only after they closed.

For now, though, he planned on resting, but tomorrow he would buy a sword and gather information on the nearby wildlife.

Just like when Altera had been a game, players were able to grow stronger in 2 main ways.

Those two are killing monsters, and completing quests. Although they weren't in a game anymore, the system was still able to hand out quests that gave out experience, money, and lots of other things.

Although quests did give out more exp than just killing plain monsters, Vega wasn't too keen on interacting with people more than he had to.

Back on earth, he had been isolated due to not playing Altera and while that no longer mattered here, he wasn't going to break that nature in just a single day.

Laying his head on the soft pillows, he summoned the system to inspect the set of armor he had bought.

[Gary's standard armor set (Uncommon): Made with high-quality leather and containing well-made chain mail, the armor handles well for beginners.]

It was a simple enough description, despite only being uncommon, it was exactly what he needed.

Unless the material contained magical properties, the highest grade an item could have was Uncommon.

Other than that, there was another thing on his status screen that he hadn't inspected until now.

[True earthling (Unique): You have been blessed by the progenitor of humanity for your cherishment of the land that has birthed you. +10 Luck]

From the title description, it added 10 points to luck, but for some reason, he didn't see it on his status screen.

It took a quick search in the forum to see that besides the 6 main stats there existed a plethora of hidden stats, which could only be increased or decreased by special items.

Although Vega was thankful for the 10 points added to luck, he wondered if it really worked considering today's event.

In the end, he just hoped that tomorrow would prove to be a better day.
