I Lost Her

Elyna opened her eyes with a blank stare. Her hands clenched the blanket tightly. No matter how long Elyna tried to blink, she felt like she was still trapped in a never-ending nightmare.

The place where Elyna woke up was a room with white walls and sufficient lighting. However, Elyna could not see anything but red. Her breath was ragged. She felt strange with her own body the moment she woke up.

Foreign memories continued to flow in her mind. Elyna remembered her mother and father holding her as a baby. She also remembered how Tritan smiled and hugged her every time they met.

Elyna had even been fed blood as a baby. She was not a descendant of a vampire and a human as she had imagined all this time. Her father and brother were vampires, the second enemy of the werewolf race after the hunters.

No wonder her original pack hated them to death. Elyna was not just an ordinary half-blood, but half of her blood belonged to the vampire race.

Elyna held her head every time she felt various information back to her. She felt like someone was trying to split her brain. Elyna groaned. Her body also ached as if her bones were barely hanging together.

"Argh!"

The extreme pain made Elyna try to get up but failed. She struggled just to stay conscious. Elyna couldn't hear anything but her breathing. Her body kept struggling. But in reality, she couldn't do anything but light movements.

At that moment, a warmth touched her damp eye, then parted away. Feeling the hand wiping away her tears, Elyna flinched. She struggled to catch the warmth that drifted apart.

'Please hang in there, Elyna. Everything will be okay soon.'

A low voice reached her ears, and the warmth that came back held Elyna's hand. Elyna finally stopped struggling. Although the pain still hit her body non-stop, she was no longer afraid because the person she knew was holding her hand tightly.

"Bro...ther."

Elyna felt someone stroking her hand after she tried to call out with difficulty. Elyna felt her lips being moistened by something. She didn't know what it was. However, once Elyna took a sip, she could feel that the pain in her body was slightly better.

Elyna moved her head forward, trying to take more of the sweet liquid. Tritan, who noticed it, immediately asked the servant to bring more. Only after they changed the teapot several times did Elyna finally no longer show symptoms of convulsions and extreme pain.

'Please sleep well. When you wake up, everything will be fine.'

Elyna was also tired after fighting for so long against her pain. She closed her eyes again calmly. After a while, darkness took over her vision again.

Elsewhere, Val stood without shaking as the werewolves who attacked her fell to the dirty ground. The fight should have been a one-sided attack. However, because their opponent was Val, none of them could give Val a serious injury.

Everyone must have heard that Val's power is one of the strongest powers in werewolf history. His power is so explosive that one move can tear his enemies to shreds.

His attackers knew that, but they still tried to attack Val recklessly. The fight couldn't even be called a fight. For Val, those people attacked him because they were desperate with their anger.

They wanted to bring destruction to their pack. Unfortunately, Val had no intention of killing any of his attackers. He only paralyzed them until he reached the leader of his enemies, Brian.

Val's fight with Brian didn't last long. In just a few attacks, Brian, who was covered in wounds, finally fell at Val's hands. Brian should have fallen to the ground like the others. But before his body could hit the ground, Val had already held him.

"Let go of me!"

Brian pushed Val roughly, then fell to the ground pathetically. The man coughed out a mouthful of blood. Although Val had tried to hold back his strength as much as he could, his punch was still a big blow for an ordinary werewolf.

"Brian, stop."

Val pleaded. He had considered Brian as his brother. Val did not want to fight, even if the people in his pack also criticized his decision not to punish the pack that had caused Elyna's disappearance.

"I don't want to do this either," Brian said weakly. "But what will my daughter say if I don't avenge her? She died tragically, Val. I can't even see my daughter's body."

Brian clenched his fists tightly.

"I still hear her whining every time she asks me for something. I still remember the way she cried if her wishes were not fulfilled or how she was naughty because she wanted my attention. I respect you, Val. Why did you betray our brotherhood? Why did the child I intended to protect kill my beautiful daughter? She did it cruelly too."

Brian showed his disappointed face in front of Val.

"Pamela tried to kill my Luna, Brian."

"DON'T SAY MY DAUGHTER'S NAME WITH YOUR MOUTH!" Brian roared angrily. Val was still calm in her place. When Brian tried to attack him once more, Val only needed to swing one of his hands to knock the man down.

Brian fell to the ground again and vomited another mouthful of blood. His hands were tightly clenched. Even though Brian knew he was the wrong party, he couldn't stop trying to take revenge on behalf of his daughter.

"Can't you stop?"

Brian clenched his fists even tighter. No. Since his daughter's death, they had no way back.

"I can't do it."

Val was silent. No one knew he was also sad to hear the same answer from someone he considered his brother. Val's eyes shone. When Brian tried to attack him again, Val raised his hand without hesitation.

"Thank you for what you've done so far... Brian."

CRACK!

Val's stab hit Brian's heart. A quick death was the last mercy Val could give to his friend.

Brian smiled sadly. He knew. Although Val looked cold, he always had a warm heart for the people he cared about.

Because Brian failed to change his daughter's behavior, Val finally had to lose his comrade. Brian knew he was the one who should apologize to Val. But when his lips opened, what he said was something else.

"I entrust the academy to you... Val."

Val hugged Brian as the man began to meet his death.

"I'm sorry."

There was no longer Val, who was always cold to others. All Brian heard from his words was the voice of a child, the same child he played with in the past.

Brian's eyes began to close. His strength was gone. Val had given him the greatest forgiveness. With his death, he could finally catch up with his mate and daughter, who had left him first.
