Chapter 37: Test of Strength

Chapter 37: Test of Strength

The Warrior Association Registration Hall was bustling with activity.

Yun Wei led Yang Xie and Nangong Ya to the area where their strength would be tested.

"This task you're about to complete is actually quite simple," Yun Wei explained to Yang Xie. "To register as a warrior, you only need to pass a strength test, which will confirm if you're strong enough to become a registered warrior."

"There are three tests in total," she continued. "The first is the strength test, the second tests your martial skills, and the third is a blood test."

Yang Xie's heart tightened at the mention of the blood test. He had undergone such a test before, back at Nangong's house. He knew that the results of this test could expose everything about him.

However, Yun Wei's next words alleviated his concerns.

"Don't worry, the third test is optional," she added. "You only need to pass the first and second tests to officially register. After that, you can choose whether or not to do the blood test."

Relieved, Yang Xie couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.

"Miss Yun Wei, I'm not called 'handsome guy,'" he replied with a grin. "My name is Yang Xie. But why is the third test optional?"

Yun Wei laughed at his comment. "Oh, my apologies, Yang Xie. The third test is a test of the aura within the warrior's body. It's a personal matter, so warriors who don't wish to reveal their aura can simply skip it."

"That makes sense," Yang Xie responded with a nod. "Then I won't take the third test, just the first two."

Nangong Ya, who had been listening, chimed in, "I won't take the third test either. I'll just do the first two."

Yun Wei smiled. "That's common. Most warriors don't bother with the third test. Only those who are curious about their aura will go through it."

"Anyway," Yun Wei said, turning towards a door, "the first test is just ahead. Let's go."

They arrived at the test area, and Yang Xie noticed that the instrument looked almost identical to the one they used at Nangong's house.

Yun Wei pointed to a machine at the entrance. "You'll each need to swipe your personal warrior terminal to authenticate yourself before you can enter. The instrument can measure up to 200,000 kilograms of force, and each of you will have three chances to test. Afterward, the machine will record your results and print a data sheet, which you can then take to the second test."

"Got it," Yang Xie said, understanding the process.

Nangong Ya was the first to step forward, scanning her warrior terminal against the authentication device. The door to the testing room opened with a soft click.

She entered, stood in position, and threw her first punch.

"1124 kg!" the machine announced.

She nodded, seemingly pleased with the result.

Yun Wei, who had been watching, was taken aback. "This... This is far beyond the strength of a first-level warrior. Nangong Ya is already showing signs of being a second-level warrior."

Nangong Ya didn't seem to pay attention to Yun Wei's surprise. She assumed a stance and focused her strength for the second punch.

"1300 kg!"

"Impressive," Yun Wei whispered to herself. "She's only been training for half a month. It's truly remarkable!"

Nangong Ya wasn't done. She threw a third punch.

"1314 kg!"

Yun Wei couldn't help but stare in awe. "So much strength... She's definitely beyond the second level of warriors now."

Turning to Yang Xie, Yun Wei asked, "Yang Xie, is Miss Nangong already a second-stage warrior?"

"Yes," Yang Xie confirmed. "She's already reached the second level of warriors, fully mastering Zhoutian."

Yun Wei was impressed, both by Yang Xie's response and Nangong Ya's progress.

Nangong Ya, having completed her test, stepped out of the room. "Your turn, Yang Xie," she said, giving him a playful look.

Yang Xie, who had been carefully considering how to approach the test, took a deep breath. "I should take it easy."

Yun Wei was confused. "What do you mean 'take it easy'?"

Was he worried about breaking the machine? The instrument could handle up to 200,000 kg, and no ordinary warrior's strength even came close to that.

Yang Xie stepped into the testing room and stood before the machine, contemplating how much force to apply.

He couldn't help but worry. If he pushed too hard, his abilities might be too obvious. It was better to stay under the radar—after all, he was a D-level genius, while Nangong Ya was an S-level genius. It wouldn't do to exceed her results.

Yang Xie slowly swung his first punch.

"Boom!"

"908 kg!"

Yun Wei's eyes widened in disbelief. "That's... 908 kg! That's impressive, especially for someone just starting out as a warrior."

Yang Xie felt a little disappointed. He had been trying to control his power, and this punch was almost as strong as Nangong Ya's best.

"Let me try again," he muttered to himself.

The second punch came.

"506 kg."

This felt much better—Yang Xie was satisfied with the result.

His third punch.

"756 kg."

Perfect. He had controlled the force to his satisfaction.

He stepped out of the testing room with a grin, feeling pleased with his performance.

"You're too slow," Nangong Ya teased, clearly not impressed by how carefully he approached the test.

Yang Xie, unfazed, shrugged. "It's all about control."

Yun Wei, who had been silently observing, couldn't help but offer, "Yang Xie, would you like to test again? I think your true strength might be higher."

Yang Xie, however, shook his head. "No, I'm fine. I just used a special technique earlier, and now I'm exhausted."

Yun Wei didn't buy it. She could tell he was hiding his true strength but decided not to press the issue. After all, he had the right to keep his abilities to himself.

"Alright, then. Let's proceed to the next step."
