Chapter 40: Poor Man
Yunwei continued, explaining the warrior evaluation levels.
"In our Qingshan City Warriors Association, there are three recognized talent evaluation levels: ordinary, genius, and genius-level. The first level is for ordinary talents, the second level is for genius-level talents, and the third level is for exceptional genius talents."
What a relief!
There are three levels of talent assessment, but luckily, both Yaya and I fall under the second and third levels!
"If you are rated as ordinary, you'll receive a reward of 10,000 Dazhou coins from the Warriors Association. Beyond that, there's not much else."
"Oh, Yaya and I are in the second and third levels. Does that mean we get something special?"
"Yes, the second level consists of warriors recognized as geniuses. Their cultivation and martial arts comprehension speeds are much faster than ordinary people."
"For example, handsome young man Yang Xie, who became a warrior in just half a month, also has a remarkable understanding of martial arts. As a genius-level warrior, you'll receive 100,000 Dazhou coins as a reward from the Warriors Association, and you can also purchase elixirs, weapons, and other items with a 10% discount using the certified personal warrior terminal."
One hundred thousand Dazhou coins and a 10% discount on elixirs and weapons. This is an amazing benefit!
For an ordinary person, earning 100,000 Dazhou coins could take years, maybe even more. Yang Xie's grandmother might take several years to earn that amount.
But now, Yang Xie had just been certified as a warrior and already received 100,000 Dazhou coins. Adding the 10,000 he got from his talent awakening, he now had a total of 110,000 Dazhou coins.
The disparity between warriors and non-martial artists is massive. In terms of wealth alone, warriors leap ahead. This doesn't even account for the monetary rewards they receive from killing beasts or completing missions, which would be astronomical compared to what non-warriors can earn.
And the 10% discount—though it might seem insignificant—can be quite substantial when you consider that even a second-level weapon costs over 100,000 Dazhou coins. That 10% discount could save him 10,000 Dazhou coins.
Yang Xie's mind began to race.
"The benefits of being a second-level genius are amazing! What about Yaya's third-level genius benefits? They must be even better!"
Yang Xie suddenly regretted not showing his true potential earlier. Nobody had told him about these rewards in advance!
What a mistake!
"Of course. Not only does Miss Nangong have S-level talent, but she also awakened her talent and transitioned into a warrior within half a month. She is undoubtedly a genius, far surpassing other ordinary awakened individuals!"
"And naturally, the rewards for her will be even better. The monetary reward alone is 1 million Dazhou coins. Additionally, when purchasing elixirs, weapons, or other items from the Warriors Association, she will receive a 20% discount with her certified personal warrior terminal."
Yunwei's explanation made Nangong Ya's expression remain unchanged.
As the only daughter of Nangong Batian, the patriarch of the Nangong family, she was not short of money and wasn't as excited by the benefits Yunwei mentioned as Yang Xie was.
However, Yang Xie was now visibly uneasy.
"Miss Yunwei, is it possible to retake the test?" Yang Xie asked earnestly.
Yunwei looked at Yang Xie with a glint of amusement in her eyes. She had known he'd regret hiding his true abilities earlier.
"Young man, you need not worry. There's actually a hidden condition for being recognized as a genius-level talent: your talent must be at least B-level or higher."
When Yunwei had sent the data sheet, she had seen Yang Xie's personal data. It wouldn't be appropriate to say that he couldn't qualify for D-level, right?
Yang Xie's enthusiasm immediately deflated.
Alright, I wasn't meant to be a Tianjiao after all, but at least the Tianjiao are still my juniors now.
"Are there any talent levels above the Tianjiao level?" Nangong Ya asked, her curiosity piqued. "Dazhou is so vast, surely there are others who are even stronger. After all, Yang Xie isn't the only one!"
"I've heard rumors about two levels above Tianjiao. However, these levels cannot be achieved by merely being certified as a warrior. The recognition for these two levels is based on actual combat performance."
"They are the fourth-level Monster-level and the fifth-level National Scholar-level. Generally, those who reach these levels are top talents selected for the Great Zhou Qianlong Ranking."
Yunwei was knowledgeable, as expected from someone working in the Warriors Association.
"That sounds more fair!" Yang Xie thought. After all, actual combat is the most important measure of a warrior's worth.
Ding dong!
Ding dong!
Suddenly, both Yang Xie and Nangong Ya received notification sounds from their personal warrior terminals.
"Congratulations, genius-level warrior Yang Xie, on successfully becoming a warrior. The Warriors Association is rewarding you with 100,000 Dazhou coins. We wish you continued success in martial arts."
"Congratulations, genius-level warrior Nangong Ya, on successfully becoming a warrior. The Warriors Association is rewarding you with 1 million Dazhou coins. We wish you continued success in martial arts."
Yang Xie looked at the message from the Warriors Association, which included his genius-level certification along with his name, and saw his personal balance showing a total of 110,800 Dazhou coins.
"Damn, happiness comes so quickly! I, Yang Xie, am finally not a poor man anymore." Tears of happiness welled up in Yang Xie's eyes.
Yunwei looked at the messages on both Yang Xie and Nangong Ya's terminals with envy. She had no idea how long it would take for her to earn even 100,000 or 1 million Dazhou coins.
But at least today, she'd helped two extraordinary geniuses. After working for over a year in the Warriors Association, she had never encountered a warrior above the genius level. Occasionally, there were genius-level warriors, but it was rare for anyone to receive them.
Building a relationship with warriors above the genius level would bring numerous benefits. As non-warriors, they didn't expect to form deep connections, but being a host could earn commissions from the warriors' purchases in the association.
If they did a good job, their salary would be much higher, and Yunwei could finally afford the medical treatment her mother desperately needed.
Yunwei was, in many ways, a tragic figure. Her father had been a warrior, but he had tragically died during a mission. Yunwei, lacking any inherited talent, had no choice but to attend a regular university. Her mother was ill, so Yunwei had dropped out of school to support her family.
Fortunately, a friend of her father had helped her land a job in the Warriors Association, allowing her to earn money to take care of her mother.
She hoped these two warriors would choose what they liked from the association's offerings today.
"The association is unusually fast today. I suppose they didn't expect you to become a warrior so quickly. Even the payment came through so fast!"
"Indeed, this is much quicker than the subsidies we issued after talent awakening before!" Yang Xie couldn't help but agree. The money arrived in less than half an hour. It was hard not to be impressed by the speed of the association.
"Shall we visit the other areas of the association now? There are many good things there!"
"I'm full of curiosity! I've wanted to see it for a long time!"
"Then let me take you there right now."
