Chapter 25: The Duel Against Nobility

Elias stood in the Academy's grand dueling chamber, surrounded by hundreds of students, all eager to witness the next clash between magic and machine.

House Null's victory against Greystone had shaken the Academy, but now? Now, they were up against Darian Velcroft—a true noble duelist.

Lira sighed beside him. "You just had to accept, didn't you?"

Elias smirked. "Wouldn't want to disappoint the audience."

Reinhardt, Cecilia, Marco, and Ivy stood behind him, watching as Darian and his team entered the ring.

The noble walked with confidence, dressed in a finely woven dueling uniform embroidered with House Velcroft's crest. His silver hair gleamed under the enchanted lights of the chamber, and his sharp green eyes locked onto Elias with interest.

"You didn't hesitate," Darian said as he stopped across from Elias. "I respect that."

Elias crossed his arms. "If I did, you'd call me a coward."

Darian smirked. "You learn quickly." He glanced at Elias's gauntlet. "You've improved it since we last fought."

Elias flexed his fingers inside the metal casing. "Yeah. You're about to see just how much."

The instructor stepped between them, raising his voice so the audience could hear. "This is an official duel between House Velcroft and House Null. The rules remain the same—eliminate the opposing members. No outside interference. Combat continues until one side surrenders or is incapacitated."

He turned to both leaders. "Are you ready?"

Darian nodded. "Of course."

Elias smirked. "Let's make history."

The instructor raised his hand.

"Begin!"

The Battle Begins

Darian moved first, vanishing in a blur of wind-enhanced movement.

Elias barely had time to react before a sharp wave of force slammed into him, sending him skidding backward.

He dug his heels into the stone floor, absorbing the impact through his gauntlet's kinetic dispersal system.

Reinhardt was already clashing with Velcroft's frontline fighter, a heavily armored noble wielding a massive claymore infused with runes.

The sound of metal clashing against magic filled the chamber.

Cecilia had already vanished into the shadows, engaging in a deadly dance with Velcroft's rogue, while Marco threw alchemical potions, forcing their spellcaster into a defensive stance.

Ivy's arrows whistled through the air, forcing Velcroft's team to stay on the move.

But the real fight?

It was between Elias and Darian.

Magic vs. Machine

Darian moved like lightning, his rapier flickering with condensed wind magic. Each strike sent sharp bursts of pressure through the air, slicing at Elias's defenses.

Elias ducked, rolled, and redirected the energy through his gauntlet, but Darian's speed was overwhelming.

"You're still too slow, Graham," Darian said, smirking. "Magic isn't just about power—it's about control."

Elias smirked back. "Good thing I don't use magic."

He activated his thrusters.

With a burst of kinetic energy, Elias's speed doubled, allowing him to match Darian's movements for the first time.

The crowd gasped as Elias went on the offensive, throwing a reinforced punch that Darian barely dodged in time.

The shockwave cracked the air where Darian had been standing.

Darian's eyes flickered with genuine surprise.

"So," Elias said, rolling his shoulders. "Still think I'm just a fluke?"

Darian's smirk widened.

"…No."

He raised his rapier, and the air around him shifted.

The real fight had just begun.
