Chapter 53: Marked by the Enemy

The air around Solmara felt heavier, as if Aldric's words had settled into the very walls of the fortress. The Primordial Lords know about you.

The sentence echoed in Elias's head, looping like a warning siren he couldn't silence.

He clenched his fists, his exosuit humming faintly in response to his tension.

Reinhardt broke the silence first, rolling his shoulders. "So… do we panic now or later?"

Lira scoffed. "Oh, later. No point in panicking if we're all dead before we can enjoy it."

Marco rubbed his temples. "Can we at least pretend we have a plan before we spiral into existential terror?"

Cecilia smirked, twirling a dagger. "We always improvise. That's our plan."

Ivy ignored the banter, her sharp gaze locked onto Elias. "What do we do?"

Elias exhaled. His mind was already moving three steps ahead, sorting through everything they had, everything they had built, and what needed to happen next.

He turned to Kierian. "You've fought the Primordial Lords before. If they're already aware of us, how much time do we have?"

Kierian's expression was unreadable. "It depends on how much they perceive you as a threat."

Reinhardt frowned. "Pretty sure Elias has been screaming 'threat' since the moment he built that gauntlet."

Kierian nodded. "Then expect their first move soon."

Elias clenched his jaw. They had pushed forward too hard, too fast. Restoring Solmara's war foundry had put them on the map, and now, the most powerful entities in the world had noticed.

He turned toward the humming forges, the partially constructed exosuits, the blueprints spread across the workbenches.

They had come too far to stop now.

If the enemy was watching, then he would make sure they saw exactly what was coming for them.

Preparing for War

Elias turned to the group. "We accelerate production. No more prototypes—we start full-scale development."

Lira raised an eyebrow. "So we are panicking."

"No," Elias said. "We're preparing."

Marco exhaled. "Alright, what's the priority?"

Elias moved toward the nearest schematic wall, adjusting the projected blueprints with quick, calculated precision.

"Three things." He pointed at the designs as he spoke:

Fortress Defense Grid: If the Primordial Lords sent an attack, Solmara needed to withstand it. They would reactivate the fortress's ancient defenses, enhance them with modern adaptations, and turn this place into an unbreakable fortress.

Mass-Produced Exosuits: They needed more than just one. The first prototype was good, but not enough. They would streamline the production, creating a combat-ready version for each member of House Null.

Disruptor Technology: If demons were coming, then they needed a way to counteract their abilities. Elias theorized a frequency-based disruption device that could interfere with demonic energy signatures—a weapon that attacked magic itself.

Ivy nodded. "I'll scout the perimeter. If they send spies, I'll find them."

Marco cracked his knuckles. "I'll focus on the disruptor prototypes. It's experimental, but if we get it right… well, I like our odds."

Reinhardt grinned. "Then I get to smash things twice as hard. Good deal."

Cecilia flicked a dagger. "And I'll make sure no one sneaks up on us while we work."

Kierian studied the plans, then met Elias's gaze. "You are setting a dangerous precedent. You are not just building defenses—you are making a statement."

Elias smirked. "Good. Let them hear it loud and clear."

Kierian exhaled. "Then we have no time to waste."

Elias nodded.

The countdown had begun.

The Primordial Lords had marked them.

Now, Elias would show them why that was a mistake.
