Chapter 56: Blueprint for War

The foundry hummed with renewed energy as the sentinels moved into position, patrolling the outer perimeter of Solmara. Elias barely had time to admire the sight before turning back to the massive schematic table, where blueprints and half-formed prototypes cluttered the surface.

They had defenses now. A temporary deterrent. But deterrents wouldn't win a war. Weapons would.

Lira leaned against the table, arms crossed. "Alright, genius. What's next?"

Elias's fingers flew across the holographic interface of his gauntlet, bringing up a detailed schematic—a design he had been refining for weeks.

His own personal war armor.

Not just an enhanced exosuit. Not just a modification of what the Obsidian Vanguard had built. This was his own creation—a synthesis of engineering, magic-resistant alloys, kinetic force manipulation, and disruptive energy fields.

Marco leaned closer, adjusting his glasses as his eyes scanned the specs. "This… This is a full combat frame. This is beyond anything we've built before."

Reinhardt whistled. "You're finally making your suit?"

Elias nodded. "The prototype was just a proof of concept. It was never meant to be my final build. If we're going to survive what's coming, I need something more."

Kierian, arms folded, studied the schematic carefully. "A war machine unlike anything else in this world… But you won't just be fighting soldiers, Elias. You'll be fighting monsters. The Primordial Lords themselves."

Elias's gaze hardened. "That's why this armor won't just be a weapon. It'll be an equalizer."

He zoomed in on the core design.

Features of Elias's War Armor (First Model – Warden Frame Mk. I): Kinetic Absorption Layer: Converts impact force into stored energy, allowing for devastating counter-attacks. Mana-Resistant Plating: A rare alloy, reinforced with disruptor tech to reduce magical influence, making it nearly immune to direct spell damage. Integrated Thrusters: Short-range boosters for enhanced mobility, aerial maneuvering, and mid-combat repositioning. Adaptive Combat AI: A built-in tactical assistance system, running real-time calculations on enemy movement and attack patterns. Modular Weapon Mounts: Customizable slots for energy projectors, plasma blades, impact gauntlets, and long-range disruptor cannons.

Lira exhaled. "That's… insane."

Marco looked uneasy. "And dangerous. You're integrating too many high-output systems at once. The power draw alone—"

Elias cut him off. "That's why I need a core upgrade. The current power sources we've used? Not enough." He turned to Kierian. "The Obsidian Vanguard—how did they power their war machines?"

Kierian's expression darkened. "They didn't rely on standard mana crystals. They used something far more dangerous."

Elias's eyes narrowed. "What?"

Kierian turned toward the deeper sections of the foundry. "Solmara's true power source. The Vanguard Core."

Silence.

Marco immediately paled. "Oh, no. No no no. I don't like where this is going."

Reinhardt cracked his knuckles. "Sounds fun."

Ivy, still watching from the shadows, muttered, "Sounds suicidal."

Cecilia smirked. "Sounds like something Elias would definitely do."

Elias was already moving, packing up his schematics, mind racing. If there was a better power source, something capable of sustaining the Warden Frame, then there was no question.

"We find it," Elias said, determination hardening in his voice. "And we make this armor a reality."

Kierian's voice was grim. "Then we descend into Solmara's deepest vaults."

The real war was about to begin.
