With a single leap into a dimensional rift, Ikky and Memnon were already at the end of the valley. From there, they began moving from one dimensional rift to another as we advanced. The entry and exit distances were shorter, and Ikky could only open a rift in places he knew or could clearly see.

They had to shorten the distance at all costs; however, they were still too far away, and telepathic communication wasn't effective.
