Silent Observers

After their hard-fought win against CF Martorell, CF Igualada was set to face CF Sant Cugat, a team famous for its tactical discipline and organized defense. The excitement of the tournament was building, but for Daniel, a shadow loomed over the celebrations. He couldn't stop thinking about the strange man who had been watching him.

The team trained harder than ever in preparation. Coach Navarro gathered them before the session.

"Sant Cugat juega con la cabeza. No regalen balones y sean pacientes," he warned. (Sant Cugat plays smart. Don't give the ball away, and be patient.)

During drills, Daniel worked alongside his teammates, perfecting his passes and positioning. Yet, his mind was divided. Every time he scanned the field, he half-expected to see the mysterious figure again.

Álvaro, however, was as sharp-tongued as ever. After Daniel mistimed a pass, Álvaro rolled his eyes.

"Tal vez si prestaras más atención, serías útil," he muttered. (Maybe if you paid more attention, you'd be useful.)

Daniel took a deep breath, resisting the urge to fire back. Instead, he focused on the upcoming game.

Matchday arrived, and the team stepped into the packed stadium. As Daniel scanned the crowd, he noticed something unsettling—a group of people standing at the far end of the stands, not cheering, not reacting, just watching.

The game kicked off, and Sant Cugat's disciplined style became clear. Their passes were calculated, their defense airtight. Every attempt to break through was met with immediate resistance.

Near the end of the first half, Daniel received a quick pass from Marc. Just as he was about to be tackled, everything slowed. The world around him seemed to lag for a split second—long enough for him to adjust his footing and flick the ball past his marker.

Regaining normal speed, he sent a perfect through-ball to Álvaro, who finished with precision. The stadium erupted in cheers.

Álvaro, still catching his breath, shot Daniel a sideways glance. "Nice pass," he admitted, reluctant but genuine.

Daniel nodded but barely heard him. His gaze drifted back to the stands.

The strange group was gone.
