Craving Him

(Chapter 106:Mira's POV )

The air inside the fortress hung heavy with bloodlust. The council stood in their elevated seats, cloaked in shadow, watching as Lorenzo faced Marcellus in the center of the arena. The circle of ancient symbols beneath their feet glowed faintly—an enchantment that bound both combatants to the fight until only one remained standing.

I pressed my hand against the cold stone wall, heart pounding as I strained to stay connected to Lorenzo through our bond. The mark he left on me burned, an echo of his pain coursing through my veins. I was supposed to be outside the fortress, far from the battle. They had forced me to leave—claiming that Lorenzo had to prove his worth alone. But I wouldn't abandon him. Not now.

Focus, Lorenzo, I sent the thought through our link, feeling his anger sharpen. The bond was fragile under the strain, but it held. He wants you off balance—don't let him.
