Chapter 53 - Ticking Bomb
Selene ~~
I wasn't even sure who I was yelling at.
Everyone. No one. Myself.
And just when I thought I would break apart,
that soft voice returned again.
It whispered gently, almost like a lullaby:
"You can fight it, Selene. Don't let it take you. You're stronger than this."
But I wasn't.
I wasn't stronger.
Not anymore.
Whatever was inside me—
It was winning.
It was so much stronger than me.
And darker.
And angry.
Then… I heard myself speak.
But it wasn't me.
"Let me go, peasants."
The voice that came out of my mouth was cold.
Sharp.
Inhuman.
I was still awake in there.
Still fighting.
I could see what was happening, but I couldn't stop it.
It was like I was watching from behind glass, screaming without sound.
The monster had taken over.
It tried to rise.
Tried to stand.
