07 The Denizen of this World are Hideous

'This is mental...'

It was a rather unexpected claim which she couldn't help but was perturbing. And though it was faint, she knew she couldn't really be dead with a heartbeat but…

'I have another me in another world? Bullshit!'

The more she thinks about it the more she feels the idea is absurd.

'This system doesn't give me a hint on important things and it's confusing. It says I need a catalyst to complete the system integration process. And that's the only way to get answers but what the hell is a catalyst?!'

The scowl on her face was still deep when another shocking conjecture appeared in her already-spent mind.

Wait a minute!

So, if... if that ugly creature was a denizen of the new world she traveled into... oh no, no way no!

Bai Xiaotong's eyes was rattled and felt adeep fear about the unknown.

If she was really going to merge with her body in this world, would she be looking like that unhinged creature?!

More importantly, what would happen to the other version? Will it clash and be removed forever?

This may sound ridiculous but what if her thoughts became her truth? She didn't want to perish and neither her other self.

A bitter scream caught in her throat, struck with sheer terror and disgust.

Besides that, the denizen of this world looks hideous! She won't become like that rotting guy, right?!

She'd rather be dead than loiter around with a decaying body!

Bai Xiaotong was livid.

She tried to glance away but she was worried that its jaws gaping in a chilling snarl would be in her neck if she ever blinked for a second. She was both angered and grossed out at the smirk it had while flaunting its set of decaying yellowish teeth along with its smelly guttural breathing.

'Ugh, it smells worse than my old man's feet in summer...'

It feels so deliberate, as though a petty bastard was trying to screw her from behind. Is this world a dumpsite for lowly demons? Where is the blue planet she specifically demanded from the cosmic store?

She needs a full refund pronto!

The moment she saw its eyeballs dangling above her face, Bai Xiaotong was thrown out of her wits in frustration and horror. Like hell, who wouldn't be surprised and unnerved?

No matter how much she had seen ugly and fierce, this level of creepy was something otherworldly! It was not a sight she had expected to see upon waking up in a million years.

Like, who in their right mind would expect waking up almost kissing a damn monster? Clearly not her!

How must she deal with this? The creature hadn't harmed her, but clearly, it was acting weird and creepy. Like those old pigs back in her world, who drag helpless women in dark alleys.

'It looked more suitable to be six feet under than be here, lingering on the surface.' Her eyes gleamed in a dangerous light. If matters turn worse, 'Will I be thrown into a dungeon if I kill it? Argh, I suddenly wanna go back to my world.' If she was, she wouldn't be reeling her mind about cutting someone down.

'I can't be caught and punished for murder if I kill this nasty-looking pervert, right?'

She was thinking deeply, but the next moment, crazy happened and she even almost choked on her own saliva in the process.

"EWWW!!!" Bai Xiaotong mentally screamed.

Luckily, she only had water and no whole bits.

Fart!

'What lucky?!'

Damn, it was still gross, perceiving some of it coming back to her throat as if a coward that was spooked!

"—Kek!"

She shuddered and turned ghastly pale when its slick, gushing saliva fell on her right cheek.

Bai Xiaotong felt so terrible that her stomach churned, almost wanting to regress and thrash the black cat who scammed her. She didn't even realize she had stopped breathing to hold it in until she was out of air.

Pfft!

There was a faint-sounding fizzle as she spews out the fluids in her mouth like a bursting fountain and gasped.

Ultimately, the action caught the zombie's attention. It stopped sniffing and finally noticed her 'presence' which made the zombie confused beforehand, since the original soul had passed away leading to her low body temperature at the moment.

"O-Ohh boy..." muttered the girl and pressed her lips together, clearly unimpressed and displeased. The last thing she wanted to do was to clash with it until was sure of things. But when it turned to her and snarled, she knew it couldn't be helped.

The corpse that should've been long dead, was still alive and kicking, desperate to tear into her flesh.

"Grawr!" It roared so loud, that Bai Xiaotong could feel her ear ringing.

"Grawr—"

She winced and instinctively moved her hand.

"Ahh! You're so loud!"

Crackle!

With a light brush of her hand, the zombie's head burst, and its neck twisted, revealing a red stone nucleus within the splattered brain and blood.

Bai Xiaotong huffed with a bone-chilling gaze as she wiped the bloodstains that fell on her. Suddenly, the system window flickered above her and a series of notifications covered her entire screen.

Ding!

[Congratulations, Host!

Your journey has begun, and you've already made remarkable progress! The cosmic system acknowledges your achievements!

[First Blood!] – You've slain your first zombie! Your combat instincts are awakening!

[Crystal Pioneer!] – You're the first to discover an Evolution Crystal! Use the ingredient to unlock new potential!]

Bai Xiaotong didn't even bother with those trivial pop-ups and quickly skipped them. In the midst of all the notifications she received, what caught her eye was something else.

[Red Low Zombie Crystal Acquired!] – Energy Catalyst detected! (1/1)

Cosmic System Integration Ready!

"That was… that was the energy catalyst you needed?" her face snapped and turned dreadfully awry.

"You could've just said so earlier and be done with it! Why couldn't you tell me beforehand, you only made me waste my breath thinking!"

More than that...

"That thing... Ah! You're telling me it was similar to an evolved beast?!" she blurted contemptuously.

Bai Xiaotong hatefully smacked the window panel even though she couldn't really inflict damage on it.

She felt furious and played!

"Argh, what kind of shitty system are you?! How could you let that happened? Can't you have at least told me something so important? I... I let that thing sniff me off and even thought of sparing his life!"

Ugh!

She had almost become a dinner without knowing like an oblivious idiot!

[System's intelligence is limited. The host didn't ask so I didn't bother to say...]

"..."

Asshole!
