Chapter 5

 Kieran

I couldn't do much today at the office but kept thinking about Grace and anticipating the next date. Immediately the time says 6pm, I left my office and went back home to get changed and drove to Grace's apartment.

Don't ask me how I got to know her apartment. I have an Assistant, so I told him to run a background check on her and find out where she's staying. There wasn't enough information about her, which is weird but the only information I really needed was where she was staying.

I pulled up to Grace's apartment, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. I was eager to see her again.

As I stepped out of the car, I couldn't help but notice the way the evening light danced across her face. She smiled at me, and I felt a jolt of attraction.

"Hey," I said, walking over to her. "You look stunning."

She blushed, and I could see the faintest hint of a smile playing on her lips.

"Thanks," she said, taking my arm.

We walked to the restaurant, the tension between us palpable. I couldn't help but notice the way her hand felt on my arm, the way her eyes sparkled in the dim light.

As we sat down at our table, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. This was it, this was the moment I'd been waiting for.

"So, tell me more about yourself," I said, leaning back in my chair. "What do you like to do for fun?"

She hesitated for a moment, and I could see the wheels turning in her head.

"I like to read," she said finally. "And take long walks."

I smiled, intrigued. "What kind of books do you like to read?"

She shrugged. "All kinds. Fiction, nonfiction... I'm not picky."

I laughed. "I'm the same way. Although I have to admit, I've been reading a lot of business books lately."

She raised an eyebrow. "Really? What kind of business books?"

I grinned. "The usual. How to make a fortune, how to run a successful company... that kind of thing."

She smiled, and I could see the faintest glimmer of amusement in her eyes.

"I think you're already doing pretty well in that department," she said.

I chuckled, feeling a sense of pride. "Thanks. I've worked hard to get where I am."

As we continued to talk, I found myself asking her more and more questions. What did she like to do on the weekends? Did she have any siblings? What were her goals and aspirations?

And to my surprise, she asked me questions too. What was it like growing up as an Asher? Did I always know I wanted to go into business? What were my passions and interests?

As the night wore on, I found myself feeling more and more comfortable around her. It was like we were old friends, catching up on lost time.

As we finished our dessert, I reached across the table and took her hand.

"Want to take a walk?" I asked, looking into her eyes.

She nodded, and we strolled out of the restaurant, into the cool evening air.

The beach was just a short walk away, and we ended up strolling along the shore, the stars shining above us.

The tension between us was palpable, and I knew that I wanted to kiss her. I leaned in, my heart pounding in my chest.

She closed her eyes, her lips parted slightly, and I could feel her warm breath on my skin.

But just as I was about to kiss her, I smirked to myself. I wasn't ready to give in to my feelings just yet.

I kissed her forehead instead, feeling a sense of satisfaction at the look of surprise on her face.

"I'll see you tomorrow," I said, turning to walk away.

As I left her standing there, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. This game of cat and mouse was far from over.
