Eve clenched the steering wheel as she drove as fast as she could to her agency's office. She tried to ignore the restlessness in her heart, while trying her best to think positively about Pierre, hoping that it was all just a plain misunderstanding.
'No, not like this. This is the man I'm planning to marry. There is no way he would hurt me, right?'
Unfortunately, the more she tried to think positively about Pierre, the more she could recall all of the terrible things he had said and done to her.
Eve gritted her teeth and parked the car. She rushed to her office floor with the elevator and hurriedly walked towards her office.
The other employees were looking at her with pitiful gazes as if they all knew that she had been royally screwed, but Eve kept her head high and maintained her composure because she was the boss in here. She had no time to break down in tears—even if she wanted to.
Andrea, her secretary, had been waiting in front of the CEO's office's door. She looked at Eve with pity as well, but Eve ignored it and asked, "Tell me what truly happened, Andrea."
"Your fiancé, Mr. Pierre Dust, came to me this morning. He said he was asked by you to take a document from the CEO's office. I forbade him at first because your office has too many confidential documents inside, but he insisted, telling me that he would call you if I dared to stop him," Andrea lowered her head out of guilt. "S-so, I allowed him to enter your office, thinking it'd be okay since he is your fiancé. He suddenly left after that, and when I checked your office again…"
Andrea opened the door leading to the CEO's office for Eve to see, and Eve's eyes widened instantly.
"What in the—" Eve was speechless. Her usually neat office had been flipped upside down, with all of the drawers opened, and the storage cabinet she used to store all of the confidential information about her clients' upcoming products was wide open and empty!
Andrea glanced at her boss, waiting to see her reaction, as she was scared that Miss Carpenter would explode and snap at her because of this.
But she didn't.
Eve still looked calm as she asked, "Did you check how many documents he had stolen? Do you still have a copy of those documents on your computer?"
"I checked the storage cabinet. He stole ALL of the documents inside, including our projects for product advertisements, yearly ads, and many more," Andrea reported. "I still have backup for all documents on my computer, but that is not the main problem, Miss."
"I know. It's fine, I will handle this," Eve responded calmly. "Don't worry, and don't panic. Everything will be alright."
"Y-yes, Miss. I'm sorry for my mistake…"
"It's fine. Pierre is my fiancé after all, so it's natural for you to trust him," Eve smiled at her and walked inside her room. She turned her head towards Andrea and added, "I know everyone in the office must've known about this already, but tell them everything will be fine. I will handle it."
"Yes, Miss."
Eve closed the door and walked towards the storage cabinet.
As expected, there was nothing left inside the cabinet, and that meant Pierre had taken all of the documents for no reason.
Well, it wasn't for 'no reason.'
She had a gist of what caused him to do this, but she was still in denial, hoping that Pierre wouldn't betray her.
Thus, Eve sat on her chair and called Pierre.
The phone rang three times before he picked it up.

"Y-you finally called me, Eve," Pierre said in a nervous tone on the phone.
"Explain yourself, Pierre," Eve said decisively. "What is this, and what would you do with those documents?"
"I-isn't it obvious. I sent it all to my dad because I want to start my own advertising agency. Y-you have been keeping me as your little slave for too long in the office, Eve. So I will take matters into my own hands and become the CEO myself!" Pierre stated. He tried to sound courageous, but Eve dated and was engaged to Pierre for two years in total, so she knew well what kind of person he was.
Just like what Alex described before, Pierre was a jobless bum before he met with Eve. He spent most of this time wasting his father's money and hating everyone. He also didn't have any independent opinion, so there must be someone who influenced him to do this crazy stunt.
"Little slave? What the hell are you talking about? I gave you a job as a manager in MY agency with zero qualifications, what more do you want?!"
"T-that's not enough! I've been a manager for two years! I deserve to be a CEO by now!"
"And what makes you think you have the right to be the CEO of MY agency?"
"Because I'm the man in this relationship!" Pierre yelled. His voice was shaking because it was rare for him to raise his voice against Eve. "I have to admit that you have the talent to create creative ideas for advertising. But still, you're a woman, so you can continue making ads, and I will be the one in charge!"
"Does it make sense in your head? Just because you're a man, now you get to be the CEO? Tell me, where did you get this information from? The internet?"
"I-I saw it in the Alpha Male podcast. I just realized that you've stripped me out of my right as a man in the house. You are a woman–MY woman! You should've given the role of leader to me, but you often talked back to me!"
"IDIOT!" Eve snapped. "You are a goddamn idiot, Pierre Dust!"
"S-see? This is what you did! You always talk back to me, and yell at me whenever I do something you don't like. What kind of man would want a wife like you?"
