Chapter 8: Use me as your weapon

"A weapon?" Eve raised her brow as his statement picked her interest. "Tell me more about it."

Alex took this as the green light, considering Eve didn't try to push him away. He grinned and continued, "Now that you finally know my identity as Alexander Langford, the only heir of the Langford billionaire family with all of my political and business connections, wouldn't it be perfect to use all of my money, power, and connections to wipe that bastard Pierre out of existence?"

"Wipe that bastard out? Now, how could you turn so hostile towards him so suddenly?" Eve scoffed. She crossed her arms as she wanted to show her defensive nature. "Do you have any personal vendetta against him? He's your cousin."

"Well, he is not a likable person even in our family and friends circle. Very loud, brash, jobless, and has no tact. But I'd say that I tolerate him at best," Alex said. He took a step forward until there was no more space between them. Eve instinctively got nervous, and she wanted to take a step back. But when she was reminded that she should stand tall even in front of her enemy, she decided to stay still.

Alex looked down at her with a smile and leaned until his lips were near her ear. Eve's heartbeat started to race as she could feel his breath tickling her ear. He whispered in a sultry voice, but it carried a deadly intention that sent shivers down her spine, "But he hurts you, and that reason is enough for me to do anything to make you feel better."

"Y-you're speaking nonsense. Do you think I'd believe you'd do something so extreme just for that reason?" Eve tried to deny it.

Alex whispered closer to her ear until his lips brushed on her earlobe, "Indeed, that is the only reason. What do you think? I would do absolutely anything if you want me to."

Eve wouldn't lie, that offer sounded very tempting.

She was not a good person either. When she found out that her fiancé and estranged mother hooked up behind her back, and also planned for her downfall, the only thing in her mind was to make them regret ever messing with her. She didn't want to fall into the depths of hell called poverty for the second time, so she was ready to do whatever it took for them to pay.

'Now that Alex is here, he can be a big help with all of his power and connections,' Even pondered.

"What takes you so long to answer, Sweetheart? Is the deal not tempting enough for you?" Alex asked once more.

He was like a devil who offered her a contract that would give her all the glory she needed and also all the tools necessary to avenge her broken heart.

She knew better not to trust the devil, though. Especially when she had dated and fucked the said devil for years.

Evelyn cleared her throat to dispel her nervousness and strange excitement. She took a step back and kept her posture straight as she looked at him straight, "I am but a businesswoman at heart, Alexander Langford. I know that a lying scumbag like you won't make such a one-sided offer for free. So, name your price."

Alex raised one brow. He was caught off guard by that statement because all he wanted was to help Eve. After all, he was lucky enough to be given this opportunity to re-enter her life once more.

However, now that Eve wanted him to 'name the price', it would be dumb of him not to take advantage of it.

He had a lot of scenarios of what she should do to pay the price, and none of those scenarios involved money. He had plenty—probably too much of it anyway.

"You know I'm not lacking money, right?"

Alex kept staring at her with his deep, brooding eyes. He always had that devious grin on his face, and that made her feel uneasy because she couldn't guess what was in his mind.

"I-I know you don't need money, but I also know that you won't stir any trouble in your big family for free," Eve replied. Her voice was a little shaky as she felt a knot on her stomach. It really felt like she was facing the devil, ready to sell her soul in exchange for granting her wish. "So, name your price—I don't care what I have to pay. I want both my mother and ex-fiance to pay for screwing me like this."

Alex's grin turned devious as he dug deep into his heart, and let his desire take in.

Of course, when talking about a business deal, he had to get as much profit as possible, and he knew how to get that profit. For now, he only wanted one thing in life.

Her.

He wanted her, and he dared to do anything, even if it would make him look like a scoundrel if that meant she could be his.

So, he finally named his price;

"Bear my children, Eve, and I will save your company."
