Chapter 28: We are not attached

Jordan gasped when Eve dared to refer to Sir Langford as a 'scumbag'.

And with how she had that twisted grin on her face, Jordan guessed the breakfast between Sir Langford and Miss Carpenter would be nowhere near peaceful.

She wanted to ask Miss Carpenter not to make a scene as she didn't want to get dragged into the mess just because she said the wrong thing. But her soon-to-be Mistress already walked past her with determined steps, as if she was ready to fight a bull.

'The Head Butler told me that Sir Langford's true love is a very feisty woman. I guess he is not wrong about that. She is courageous,' Jordan thought.

She had always seen Sir Langford as a player with very specific taste because he seemed to go after one type of woman based on their appearance. 'I hope nothing will happen to her. The last thing I want to hear is for them to fight, and it ends up with Sir Langford drinking himself to sleep.'
