Brute Force

It's been two days, we slept in the stadium these past few days, we probably could've always went back to our apartments but it's too far of a walk and we're knackered.

GPS isn't even sending anyone to find us, she's that confident in her deductions that Ghostdoctor is of significant values to us, and that we will show up to save him eventually.

Well, she's not wrong.

In front of me is silencer's POV of the quarter finals, the match persisted a bit longer than the previous one I saw of him, but the battle was very much still one-sided.

Silencer's thunder magic is not just strong enough to incinerate every matter that comes it's way, but when silencer shoots lightning bolts downwards, it produces enough momentum to propell him upwards. He's pretty much flying right now, shooting at his enemies who's fleeing desperately on the ground.

Eleanor sitting next to me is sound asleep, Ken is as well lying on her shoulder, whereas me and my uncle were sitting idle staring blank into the quarter finals.

It's nothing interesting, the tournament gets old with time as it's not a film or story filled with plot twists.

It's just a raw battle of violence, no restrictions. First side to be completely eliminated or forfeits loses. People like me whose strengths lies on deceptive tactics and elaborate schemes are pretty much useless in these tournaments. Everyone I watched just brute forces through it.

"Brute force." I thought out loud, which startled my uncle as I broke the silence that's been going on for hours.

"What?" He asked flabbergasted.

"That's it, Guillotine's tournament team were a band of assassins before they enter this game right?" I asked.

"From what I heard, yeah."

"There's no way we're saving Ghostdoctor with my usual schemes, GPS won't fall for them easily, she'll counter it, she's proven she can.

But what if we outmatch them in manpower?"

"That's not possible, there's only four of us, even if my former alliance were to help, it wouldn't be enough for Living Cemetery.

Also, your words are heavily implying you want Guillotine to help, how do you picture that happening?"

"They're a band of assassins, they could probably take on Living Cemetery."

"Yeah I understand that, but they don't just do charity you know?"

"Don't you find it strange how they win every tournament, can leave whenever they want, yet never does?"

I can tell that question of mine intrigued my uncle, he paused and rubbed his chin as if thinking up a reason why they wouldn't just leave the game.

I answered for him,

"There's two possibilities from how I see it.

One, they have nothing to go back to in life, and they enjoy the life where they reign on top. However, I only see GPS being this kind of person. You wouldn't risk your life here if you enjoy it, and you wouldn't gatekeep the pass back into life for no reason. Of course, there's the possibility that they're psychopaths that enjoy killing but, let's dismiss that.

Two, they have unfinished business here. Being the strongest alliance in game, and being a band of literal assassins in real life, I doubt their unfinished business would be similar to Living Cemetery. I don't think it's that they want someone dead in this game, they would've achieved that easily.

What other unfinished business could they have then? Two possibilities again. One, they're the gamemasters, they can't leave, they have to monitor the players. But what's a gamemaster that ruins the tournament by winning every single time, that's no fun, if I were to create a game like this, I want it to be competitive. Of course there's still the possibility that they're psychopaths that enjoy killing but, let's dismiss that.

Two, they also thought the game was suspicious like me. I've always thought something was fishy and Ghostdoctor eventually confirmed my theory. The signs are all there, we still carry out living processes and the sun still rises and sets. What if they're staying in the game, to investigate the game?

Now that's a very probable scenario, they stay because they suspect something's off with the game. You know what could hold all the answers to the puzzle?"

"What?"

"That first place in the tournament, those five passes back into life. What's a better way to investigate this place than that?"

"You explained nothing."

"Look, if you actually took the passes back into life, then well, you're back into life, there's no more investigating the game. But if you send others to real life, observe the process of it happening, that could be helpful clues to what this game really is.

For example, I tell the random five person I selected, to reject the pass when it's given, since he observed what the pass is, he could then come back and explain to Guillotine what it is. Or maybe they could give the random winner of the pass a tracker, then tracks where he goes after leaving the game."

"There's no trackers for sale in this game."

"Ok still, my point stands, it's very probable that Guillotine is investigating the game out of suspicions, and guess who has the answer to it all?"

"Us." Uncle said with a puzzled look, clearly trying to process the information overload.

"Not us, Ghostdoctor. We simply has proof that Ghostdoctor knows." I reach into my uncle's bag. He used a bag from Ghostdoctor to carry all the non in game items of Ghostdoctor that can't be stored in the inventory.

I pulled out the pair of scissors and displayed it in front of my uncle's eyes. This is our proof, our proof that Ghostdoctor knows the secrets of this game.

"I am so confused..." My uncle said while shaking his head and pressing his fingers against his forehead.

Did I give him a headache?

"Well this plan doesn't require any of you to understand it anyways. We just wait until tomorrow when the tournament ends, I'll talk to silencer, bring him this (the scissors), and ask him to save Ghostdoctor for us, through pure brute force and violence."

"Sounds gruesome, put this down please." Uncle lowers my hand that was wielding the scissors proudly.

The holographic hosts of the tournament appeared again, they enthusiastically announced,

"The semi finals will commence in only 45 minutes! The matchups are...Guillotine...versus...The Ones Above All...and...Living Cemetery...versus...Myth!"

They did the dramatic pauses in between words for suspense, but I can literally see the matchups on the holographic board right next to them.

"Big news everyone! The Ones Above All has forfeited their round in the semi finals! Guillotine successfully advances into the finals!" They announce.

Most sensible alliance so far, the rest were way too reckless even going into the match in the first place against Guillotine.

Half of them ended up forfeiting the match halfway through, the other half obliterated.

Welp, looks like Guillotine's winning again, such terrifying strengths, especially from silencer.

2 days in enemy's grasp, I wonder how's Ghostdoctor doing, or should I say, how's our former cashier doing?
