Mors memento

Cold.

It wasn't the type of cold you experience from the ac blaring in your car or your room, it was a cold that seeped into your skin, it even felt like it was digging into his soul.

His eyes opened; the darkness that consumed him gone. Snow? How was it snowing in his room?

Oh, that's right I Died.

This didn't look like hell, a musty cave and a blaring blizzard outside the entrance, it sure as heck didn't feel like Heaven.

Where the hell was he? Better yet, when will he stop freezing. Could he start a fire here? He couldn't tell what type of material the cave was made of, starting a fire would be more dangerous than not.

Regardless Aegeon didn't want to freeze to death, he started to think.

Huh? A weird sense of incongruity overtook him, something felt wrong, felt off about this whole situation as if it wasn't his first time here.

He reached for his throat, tapping it, making sure his head was still a part of his body, a dream? A nightmare? A strange pervasive sense of Deja vu?

Could I be in Deminos? God, he hoped not. that was the common trope, sucked into a game. How original he lamented. He checked his own body; he wasn't wearing shirt, He had fur pants. His arms were marked with blue lines, formed like lightning.

He frowned, these thoughts, didn't feel new, it was like repeating from a script

He outstretched his hand, like it was second nature to him and pulled out a bolt of lightning from the air.

Was it a premonition, no it didn't feel like fortune telling, Aegeon spoke the magic word.

His progress was saved, was it regression? Should he test it? His hand holding the spear hovered over his heart as if to self-impale.

Right, this stalker is here with him, his frown deepening.

Light bearers were named paladins of the Church of Hest, worshiping the great god of light.

Thunder rumbled in the distance.

Aegeon thought that made sense, if this was really before Deminos One, the gods hadn't banded to together to fight against the Demon gods yet, and even if he was a part of the sacred Church of Thunder and Lightning, he had no sigil to prove it.

Still to be killed by Sir Gideon the light keeper felt surreal, and the fact he never got that cooked deer made him feel worse, not a word was exchanged before his head was cut off, he instinctively rubbed his throat.

Regression was not a skill he was granted, so how did he get it? His eyes metaphorically moved towards the nonexistent visage of his god.

He continued to 'stare' his eyes piercing the 'invisible' veil.

He thought of the skill; it displayed its meaning.

It was good to know Aegeon couldn't theoretically die, but if he really thought about it, this wasn't good news, this meant he was eternally trapped in this damned game even if he died.

Even death would not grant Aegeon freedom.

"Ah whatever" he loudly exclaimed I'll get to it when I get to it, for now Aegeon has other things to worry about, one is that his knowledge about the timeline was completely useless.

A sigh left his lips, he was hungry, and the forest was not a good place to be, yet if his god pointed towards the forest, then could it really be that bad.

Yes, it could be, maybe Aegeon should farm the goblins grow strong and sweep the whole damn continent.

"Humph" He snorted, Aegeon walked outside the cave and snowboarded down with his lightning.

Once again, Aegeon slayed the goblins.

Aegeon stood Infront of the Yidleaf tree.

Like clockwork the man's scream was heard coming from north of his location, the knights would arrive and help them anyways, he continued to study the tree.

Now that Aegeon knew the approximate time of when he was, the winter made sense, the sun god still hadn't won against the winter god and his allies.

If rescuing those merchants wasn't a good idea, then his only choice left was to explore, or destroy the goblin den, Aegeon wasn't one to leave free xp unchecked, besides, the only good goblin is a dead one.

"Now where would a goblin den be?" He whispered as he looked around, he started to walk around aimlessly, until he spotted smoke rising.

Please don't be a human camp. He crossed fingers and prayed, goblins and a whole lot of them Aegeon confirmed as a smile appeared on his face.

The smile on his face faltered as soon as he spotted something.

Why am I so unlucky?
